Ch.396[Episode 396] Return to the Future

    “So that’s how it was…”

The little lady’s name was Sir Dominica.

She was Sir Dominica from the Chick Class.

Normally, knightly ranks aren’t hereditary as a rule, but in Gacha Land, it seemed such titles could be passed down as hereditary titles without any need for formalities.

Of course, such minor details weren’t important.

What was important was that this little lady’s name was Sir Dominica and…

“To think she was my granddaughter…”

    She was Sir Dominic’s granddaughter.

Sir Dominic discovered from the family registry that the little lady wasn’t actually his daughter but his granddaughter.

In fact, Sir Dominic’s actions until now had been foreshadowing.

For some reason, Sir Dominic had been giving this familiar-feeling little lady cotton candy and various other foods.

The desire to feed one’s grandchildren something more to keep them healthy.

The feeling of wanting to prepare candies and snacks just for one’s grandchildren.

That very emotion that grandfathers and grandmothers would have was the foreshadowing.

Sir Dominic finally realized why Sir Dominica had called him daddy.

If Sir Dominic had a son, he would look just like Sir Dominic, so to a child’s eyes, a younger Sir Dominic and Sir Dominic’s son would look similar.

Sir Dominic closed the family registry displayed on his phone and looked up at Sir Dominica.

He had learned what he wanted to know, so the family registry was no longer needed.

    Future spouse? Future daughter-in-law?

Such things were beyond Sir Dominic’s interest.

What good would it do to know such things and be swayed by fate?

Fate is something you carve out yourself. That’s what he thought.

“Still, to think she’s my granddaughter.”

Sir Dominic tilted his head as he watched Sir Dominica happily holding a doll that looked like it might violate copyright laws.

Of course, the copyright violation comment referred to a doll that resembled Little Sir Dominica’s doll.

It was a strangely designed doll with X-shaped eyes.

Anyway, Sir Dominic thought as he looked at Sir Dominica.

This event, “Return to the Future,” clearly involved people from the future coming to the present.

But was there any need for such a young child to come?

A baby who looked barely a few years old?

Sir Dominic tried to understand the system’s intentions, but since his intellect wasn’t particularly exceptional, he couldn’t grasp the system’s inner workings.

He simply thought such things happened because this was Gacha Land.

    “…What should we do?”

“How should I know? That’s why I told you to stop inserting so many bugs!”

As Sir Dominic had guessed, Sir Dominica’s arrival in Gacha Land was a bug.

To be precise, it was an error that occurred among the bugs that coders had inserted as pranks.

Originally, Sir Dominic’s son was supposed to come to the past Gacha Land… that is, the Gacha Land where Sir Dominic resided, but due to the coders’ mistake, some invitation codes got messed up, resulting in Sir Dominic’s granddaughter, Sir Dominica, being invited instead.

Surely Sir Dominic’s son must be frantically searching for his suddenly disappeared daughter, but that was a problem for future Sir Dominic to solve.

After all, future Sir Dominic would remember today’s meeting with his granddaughter.

Anyway, the coders began to worry about the current situation, clutching their heads.

“If this continues, our plan to make Sir Dominic the main focus of the event will be ruined!”

“Why only Sir Dominic? Why always Sir Dominic?”

The coders started getting angry at Sir Dominic, who seemed to have a constitution that attracted bugs.

“If only Sir Dominic weren’t here!”

“…Team Leader? I disagree with that opinion. Sir Dominic is a valuable person who finds bugs and errors we couldn’t find.”

    “…Right?”

The coder who had gotten angry at Sir Dominic was dragged away by other coders and treated to a cup of coffee in the break room.

It meant he should drink coffee and come to his senses.

Of course, the method of making him drink coffee was somewhat unique… but I’ll spare you the details of the horrifying scene that would shock you if described.

“Given the situation, we need to change the direction of the event a bit.”

The woman called Team Leader had her face mysteriously shadowed.

She seemed to be trying to create a mystical atmosphere, but the inherent air of clumsiness about her remained undiminished.

“…Family Month! So we should switch to an event related to family!”

“But, that was already the plan…”

“A sports day! We’ll hold a sports day! It wouldn’t be strange to have children at a sports day!”

The coders sighed at the sight of their Team Leader starting to go out of control.

They knew that once the Team Leader started rampaging like this, no one could stop her.

“How is it that there’s not a single normal person among the coders…”

“…You know you’re one of those coders too, right?”

    “Damn it.”

The coders sighed while making self-deprecating jokes.

Given the situation, they had no choice but to change the direction of the event according to the Team Leader’s words.

…Through whatever bugs and errors that might arise.

“Do you like it that much?”

    Nod, nod.

Sir Dominica was touching the Sir Dominic merchandise hanging from the shield with a pleased expression.

Sir Dominic had decided to speak informally to Sir Dominica now.

Since he knew Sir Dominica was his granddaughter, there was no need to maintain a stiff relationship.

Above all, the Feralant code of chivalry stated that one should be gentle with children.

…Probably. Though Sir Dominic had been in Gacha Land for two years since coming from Feralant, he was gradually forgetting the customs of Feralant.

Anyway, Sir Dominic was taking Sir Dominica back home.

If he had been alone, he would have continued enjoying this elegant vacation, but he thought it wouldn’t be good for a child’s emotional well-being to be dragged around on vacation.

    “Here, this is Grandfather’s house.”

    “Gwanpa?”

Sir Dominica seemed to be quite intelligent, as she called out for her grandfather upon seeing Sir Dominic’s house.

It seemed that future Sir Dominic also lived in this house, as Sir Dominica immediately recognized Sir Dominic’s house as her grandfather’s.

    “Gwanpa!”

Sir Dominica must have been quite close with future Sir Dominic, as she became very excited upon seeing Sir Dominic’s house.

    “You like it that much?”

Sir Dominic’s face softened as Sir Dominica began humming a tune.

This was a type of expression Sir Dominic had never shown since coming to Gacha Land.

“Now that we’re here, let’s go inside.”

Sir Dominic said as he opened the front door and went in.

    “I’m home.”

    “I’m home-.”

Sir Dominica followed Sir Dominic’s words as she entered through the front door.

Then, as if remembering something, she went back outside, dusted off her shoes, and came back in.

She seemed to have received very strict etiquette training.

Sir Dominic smiled warmly at the sight, then waddled into the living room.

    “I’m home… Is nobody here?”

Sir Dominic confirmed that no one was in the living room.

    “Hmm… I should feed her first…”

Sir Dominic sat Sir Dominica on the sofa and headed to the kitchen.

For some reason, Sir Dominic thought Sir Dominica looked too skinny.

Of course, considering that Sir Dominic was currently in a very round state, Sir Dominica looked almost starved in Sir Dominic’s eyes.

Thinking this must be because she wasn’t eating properly, Sir Dominic began taking out all sorts of delicious foods from the kitchen.

He thought he had eaten everything during the last after-party, but it seemed Sir Dominica had restocked.

“Still, suddenly feeding her greasy food might upset her stomach…”

With that thought, Sir Dominic began making Feralant-style stew.

When the stew was bubbling nicely, Sir Dominic cooled it down slowly so that it wouldn’t burn Sir Dominica’s palate or tongue, then handed it to her.

    “Stew!”

Sir Dominica seemed to really like stew, as she grabbed the spoon before Sir Dominic could even set the bowl down and began eating eagerly.

However, lacking arm strength, she kept spilling more than half on the table.

    “Eat slowly.”

Sir Dominic said as he wiped up the spilled stew with the edge of his clothes.

Sir Dominic watched contentedly as Sir Dominica ate her stew heartily.

Just then, Sir Dominic heard something fall behind him.

It was the dull sound of glass falling, and when Sir Dominic turned his head, there was Lady Alice, who had taken digestive medicine, looking shocked as she stared at Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica.

“Sir Dominic has… gotten fat… No, more importantly, that child…”

    “My lord?”

“Sir Dominic… child… What on earth is… ugh.”

Lady Alice, already dizzy, felt her head spinning even more and fainted on the spot.

Whether aware of this or not, Sir Dominica continued eating her stew deliciously.
