Ch.392[Episode 392] Roll, Sir Dominic!
by fnovelpia
After passing through a long, dark corridor, Sir Dominic found himself in darkness.
Sir Dominic fell to the floor at tremendous speed, but fortunately, since Sir Dominic was round and soft, he bounced safely.
After landing safely on the floor, Sir Dominic first looked around his surroundings.
“Where am I?”
Sir Dominic realized that it was too dark to distinguish anything around him.
And Sir Dominic knew one place like this.
“Is this Glitch Burg?”
Sir Dominic’s face darkened at the thought that this might be Glitch Burg.
It was understandable considering what he had experienced in Glitch Burg last time.
However, Sir Dominic soon realized that this was a different space from Glitch Burg.
Suddenly, a light flashed before Sir Dominic’s eyes, and some unknown letters appeared above a rectangular light.
Sir Dominic was startled by the sudden light, closed his eyes and turned his head, but the afterimage remained, blocking his vision.
“What on earth is happening…?”
Fortunately, all of this was temporary, and Sir Dominic’s vision gradually returned to normal.
Sir Dominic looked at the rectangular light that appeared before his eyes, and the letters that floated in the middle of that light.
The letters spelled ‘s2q’, and all these phenomena were things Sir Dominic had never seen before.
As the light illuminated the surroundings, Sir Dominic finally noticed what kind of place this was.
This place was, for some reason, a space filled with angular things.
The only properly round thing here was Sir Dominic.
Sir Dominic tried to plant his feet on the ground to check where he was.
However, for some reason, Sir Dominic couldn’t walk.
Because the floor stuck to the soles of his feet.
“What is this…?”
“Ah, found you.”
Sir Dominic was startled by the sudden voice and turned his head.
And he noticed that beyond the rectangular space where the light had just been, there was a giant I’m Not Little.
“I’m Not Little?”
“Sir Dominic! You were here!”
I’m Not Little sighed with relief, saying he had finally found him.
“The Giant of Red Roses cast a curse and Sir Dominic went into a nearby console. I thought his curses and imprecations were admirable, but I never expected them to break through Sir Dominic’s resistance…”
I’m Not Little blamed himself for not being prepared.
However, what Sir Dominic wanted to know was not I’m Not Little’s self-blame, but the current situation.
Sir Dominic asked I’m Not Little about the current situation.
“Where exactly am I right now? Above all, why can’t I walk now?”
“Sir Dominic is precisely in a console game machine, specifically in one of the games installed inside. And about the walking problem… it’s probably due to the gameplay of that game.”
After saying that, I’m Not Little suggested that Sir Dominic try rolling.
“Sir Dominic. Can you try rolling?”
“I’ll try.”
Sir Dominic rolled around as I’m Not Little suggested.
Only then did his feet leave the ground, allowing him to roll around.
“It works.”
“I see. You can even figure out the game mechanic right away.”
“Mechanic?”
Sir Dominic expressed doubt at I’m Not Little’s words and looked down at his body.
And Sir Dominic was shocked.
Because something was attached to Sir Dominic’s hands, arms, and various other places.
“Sir Dominic, listen carefully.”
I’m Not Little explained the exact mechanic of this game to Sir Dominic.
“This game aims to attach various things to a round object within a certain time limit to make it grow beyond a certain size.”
“Make it grow beyond a certain size?”
“Yes. If you look at Sir Dominic’s body, you can see various things attached to it now. And those are objects smaller than Sir Dominic. Sir Dominic attaches those objects to gradually increase in size, and with that increased size, you can attach even larger objects to grow even bigger.”
“Ah, I understand.”
Sir Dominic clearly understood the purpose of this game from I’m Not Little’s explanation.
“By the way, how do I get out of here?”
“Well… there are two ways.”
“Two ways?”
“The first is to go to the Retrograde City Library and search through gaming magazines to find a strategy guide. If you’re lucky, you might find it within a month.”
“Then what’s the second?”
“The second is to just try it. This game seems to be made for casual play anyway, so it doesn’t seem to need a separate strategy guide.”
“Then I’ll choose the latter.”
Sir Dominic chose the latter without a moment’s hesitation at I’m Not Little’s words.
“I thought so. The controls for this game are simple. Just roll. Roll and roll to grow bigger, then roll and roll some more.”
“Understood.”
As soon as Sir Dominic heard those words, he immediately began rolling around on the ground.
…
It started with angular ants or beetles, or star candies or Lego-like objects.
They stuck to Sir Dominic’s body, writhing wildly or hurting him, but Sir Dominic was a strong warrior who could endure such pain and keep moving.
After one growth, Sir Dominic began attaching the next objects to his body.
This time, they were quite large objects like snacks or bricks.
After another growth, Sir Dominic could now attach slate boards that were somehow lying on the road, small trees, small rocks, or tricycles to his body.
After the third growth, he could attach NPCs that acted like people, walls, tall trees, dogs, or ducks to his body, and after the fourth growth, he could attach large things like cars or polar bears.
And… Sir Dominic’s first attempt ended there.
“This is quite difficult.”
Sir Dominic said with difficulty.
Sir Dominic was now reduced to the size of an ant again.
Until just now, Sir Dominic had reigned as a small apocalypse with his enormous size, but as soon as the time limit ended, he returned to his original state.
“Time is quite tight.”
Sir Dominic realized that he could not possibly achieve the goal within the time limit.
To be precise, since a new goal appeared after each goal was completed, he didn’t know what the exact final goal was.
“I noticed there were time extension items scattered here and there.”
Unlike Sir Dominic, who was busy spinning around, I’m Not Little could look up at Sir Dominic from above and survey the surroundings.
“Then tell me about such things. This time I will definitely succeed.”
Sir Dominic said as he started the game again.
…
“Sir Dominic! Time extension item at 3 o’clock!”
“I don’t know where 3 o’clock is!”
“To your right from Sir Dominic’s perspective!”
“Got it- oh.”
Sir Dominic’s second attempt was quite successful, but ultimately a failure.
Since it was their first time coordinating, they didn’t work well together.
Nevertheless, Sir Dominic was able to grow large enough to attach huge buildings this time.
“Still, there’s hope this time.”
Sir Dominic, now as small as an ant again, grinned.
As Sir Dominic said, this time they had confirmed what was presumed to be the final goal.
And that was… to grow as large as the moon.
“That was a bit disappointing just now.”
“Indeed.”
“This time we can solve it… hm?”
“…? What’s wrong?”
Sir Dominic asked I’m Not Little, who had suddenly cut off his words from the other side, if something had happened.
Fortunately, there wasn’t any problem.
No, perhaps it could be considered good news for Sir Dominic.
“I remember playing this before.”
Captain Elang appeared on the screen with I’m Not Little.
“Sir Dominic. Just a moment. Your vision might be blocked briefly.”
Captain Elang began to operate something with familiarity, then opened a menu window and went into options.
And when he manipulated something in the options, hidden items in the options window appeared.
“Ah, as expected. This is the same. Wow. I didn’t know GachaLand would have something like this.”
Captain Elang marveled at the perfectly transplanted game and further manipulated the options.
Then the timer above Sir Dominic’s head started changing from 20 minutes to 30 minutes, 40 minutes, and 1 hour.
“I don’t know who set it, but it was at level 8. There, this should be more than enough to clear it, right?”
Captain Elang smiled happily as if he had accomplished something.
“Sufficient.”
Sir Dominic said, looking at the timer that had suddenly tripled.
“With this much time, nothing is impossible.”
Sir Dominic said as he prepared to start the game again.
Surely there wouldn’t be another goal after growing to the size of the moon.
With that thought, Sir Dominic began rolling on the ground again, signaling the start of the game.
Time was plentiful, but Sir Dominic wanted to escape this narrow space immediately.
Sir Dominic began to move along the shortest route he had discovered through his previous two attempts.
