Ch.390[Episode 390] Roll, Sir Dominic!

Before long, the second match of Group 2 had ended, and it was just before the start of the third match.

This meant it was now Sir Dominic and I’m Not Little’s turn to compete.

Sir Dominic had been able to understand how this competition worked by watching the two previous matches.

    Roll down a long course.

    The opponent interferes.

Avoid those interferences while rolling, destroy the enemy’s fortress, and flatten the avatars of the Stars inside.

And then all the Stars laugh uproariously at the ridiculous sight of the defeated Star.

Sir Dominic suddenly realized that Stars had a different mental state than mortals.

Even though they couldn’t die, to make a mockery of death itself…

As someone with the basic mindset of a warrior, Sir Dominic found it utterly incomprehensible.

“T-they didn’t tell us about this beforehand?”

Star I’m Not Little trembled in fear after seeing the results of the previous two matches.

She had no idea there would be mockery of the defeated Stars.

    “S-Sir Dominic…”

“We just need to win decisively. Don’t worry.”

Sir Dominic said this to the anxious I’m Not Little while rocking his body forward.

Such charming words that could make one fall in love.

However, coming from Sir Dominic’s round appearance, I’m Not Little burst into laughter.

“Pfft-! Ah, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to laugh at you-“

“…It’s alright. I realize those words don’t quite match my current state.”

Sir Dominic understood I’m Not Little’s reaction.

I’m Not Little gently wiped Sir Dominic with a handkerchief, cleaning off her saliva that had moistened him.

“The match will begin shortly! Would the competitors for Group 2’s third match please take your positions at the starting line!”

Only after Sir Dominic was dry and fluffy again did they hear the guide’s announcement for the next match.

Now, it was time to roll.

I’m Not Little’s opponent in the round of 16 was a large blue sword.

To be precise, it was a massive greatsword that looked as if it had been coated with blue-green paint. At the intersection where the blade, handle, and guard crossed, there was a blue eye that looked down upon everything arrogantly.

    “Ah.”

I’m Not Little let out a sigh upon seeing it.

“I was wondering about the name I saw on the bracket earlier, but this is bad news.”

    “?”

I’m Not Little said to Sir Dominic with a despairing expression.

“That’s the Star Blue-Green Sword. A record hunter who holds world records in several time attack categories.”

We’re doomed, I’m Not Little’s increasingly dejected demeanor seemed to say.

Just then, Star Blue-Green Sword floated through the air toward I’m Not Little.

    “Are you I’m Not Little?”

    “Ah, yes.”

Star Blue-Green Sword gazed down intently at I’m Not Little.

That arrogant gaze that seemed to fear nothing in the world.

I’m Not Little shrank back slightly, intimidated by that terrifying gaze.

Star Blue-Green Sword continued to look down at I’m Not Little with arrogant eyes, then suddenly pointed its tip at her.

    “!”

I’m Not Little squeezed her eyes shut.

Anyone watching would have thought it was about to attack.

However, Blue-Green Sword had no intention of attacking I’m Not Little.

“I’m a fan! Could I get your autograph?”

At the tip of his sword was merely a piece of paper and a marker for signing.

    “…?”

I’m Not Little looked bewildered at Blue-Green Sword’s sudden request for an autograph.

“I never thought I’d see you here! I never imagined someone from a major corporation would come to such a small competition…”

    “Ah.”

I’m Not Little suddenly thought about her GachaTube viewer count, and then Blue-Green Sword’s viewer count.

Blue-Green Sword was a small Star with just over 6 million viewers, while she was a massive Star with tens of times that number.

Though Blue-Green Sword’s skills were widely recognized, his lack of speaking ability had resulted in fewer viewers.

In the world of Stars, where the number of believers equated to power, I’m Not Little was quite high up as a major Star.

…Though you wouldn’t think so from her usual appearance.

“I joined your fan cafe and I’ve been subscribed for 352 months already. And also-“

Blue-Green Sword was beside himself like a fan meeting an idol.

    “I-I’ll sign it for you.”

I’m Not Little took the paper and marker from Blue-Green Sword and signed it.

Since I’m Not Little rarely signed anything except when paying for meals with a card, her hand trembled uncontrollably.

    “What message should I write?”

“Please write ‘Be sure to win.'”

“…That would mean I have to lose, wouldn’t it?”

    “Ah, no, that’s not what I meant…”

Blue-Green Sword was completely flustered by I’m Not Little’s words.

Was this what years of experience looked like?

Finally agreeing on the message “Wishing you broadcast success!”, Blue-Green Sword clutched the signed paper to his chest and grinned broadly.

“I’ll treasure this as a keepsake.”

“Attention all competitors! Please take your positions at the starting line within 30 seconds! I repeat, all competitors-“

“Ah, the match is about to start. I… I’ll compete with no regrets. So… fighting!”

With those words, Blue-Green Sword flew toward the opposite peak.

To be precise, toward where I’m Not Little’s fortress was located.

    “…What an incredibly pure-hearted Star.”

Sir Dominic said, surprised by Blue-Green Sword’s demeanor that contrasted with his appearance.

“I know. From his appearance, I thought he’d just killed a Star or two and recently earned the Slayer title.”

I’m Not Little said as she walked toward the starting line.

“Now! We will begin the third match of Group 2-ooow! Now!”

I’m Not Little watched the traffic light that began changing colors with the announcer’s shout.

The lights blinked one by one with a beeping sound.

And finally, when the light turned green, I’m Not Little rolled Sir Dominic from the peak.

    The match had truly begun.

Sir Dominic rolled very slowly at first, but soon gained momentum and began spinning at tremendous speed.

The slope was extremely steep since it was a mountaintop, and there were almost no obstacles like grass or trees that could control acceleration on the specially constructed road for the competition.

However, Sir Dominic somehow wasn’t dizzy.

To be precise, Sir Dominic’s view wasn’t first-person but third-person.

Sir Dominic was watching himself, the spinning Sir Dominic.

“Thiiis iiis quiiite aaaan unusuaaal expeeerieeence-“

Sir Dominic wanted to say it was a strange experience, but the words coming from his rapidly spinning body were oddly stretched.

In fact, Sir Dominic’s third-person view during the competition was none other than I’m Not Little’s consideration.

She had temporarily bestowed the blessing of third-person perspective on Sir Dominic through her power as a Star.

Sir Dominic didn’t know this fact, but even if he had, he wouldn’t have minded.

For now, he had to get past all kinds of obstacles trying to impede him.

Sir Dominic saw various types of walls and turrets suddenly being constructed before his eyes.

And before those turrets could be fully built, he saw herds of cows and sheep appearing on the path.

Sir Dominic successfully demolished walls and shattered turrets at tremendous speed, but the cows, before dying, kept trying to push him sideways.

The road on the mountain was very narrow, so being pushed even slightly to the side could cause him to roll off in the wrong direction—an extremely dangerous situation!

Fortunately, Sir Dominic was able to prevent himself from rolling off in the wrong direction by moving the muscles he had diligently trained.

Sir Dominic remained vigilant for a moment, not knowing what the next obstacle would be, but after the initial walls, turrets, cows, and sheep, no more obstacles appeared.

“Creating obstacles requires funds! It seems the other side has run out of money!”

Just then, I’m Not Little conveyed information to Sir Dominic from the sky.

Sir Dominic finally realized that the opponent couldn’t stop him anymore because they had no funds.

With this realization, Sir Dominic’s movements became unhindered.

Sir Dominic began rolling again, and soon was barreling down the road with fierce momentum.

There was no worry about injury or aftereffects.

Thanks to Sir Dominic’s [Tanker] trait, his health and defense were at overwhelming levels, and when combined with his special skill [Rider], Sir Dominic’s hardness was almost as solid as the mythical metal adamantite.

Ordinary interference couldn’t even scratch Sir Dominic’s body!

Sir Dominic suddenly noticed what appeared to be a fortress structure ahead.

Without thinking, Sir Dominic leaped toward the opponent’s fortress with no interference whatsoever.

Sir Dominic’s round bottom struck the entrance of the fortress forcefully.

Sir Dominic suddenly heard the Stars in the distance cheering with their arms raised.

    “Well done, Sir Dominic.”

I’m Not Little picked up Sir Dominic after he attacked the fortress and placed him on her palm.

“I think we just need to do this once more.”

Sir Dominic glanced at the fortress entrance at those words.

There, he could see the fortress gate already more than half destroyed.
