Ch.370The Country of My In-Laws (10)

Suddenly, while I was relaxing, Death Knights charged toward the village in unison.

Under normal circumstances, it would have been a threatening advance. The Death Knights were certainly powerful. However, they had chosen the wrong opponents.

Our girlfriends had been hoping for something like this to happen. Tina had been inciting them with the idea that reaching level 99 was a token of affection, so they were waiting for mobs to appear that they could defeat to level up.

    SWOOSH-!!!

Kana’s sword strikes were one-sidedly sweeping away the Death Knight horde.

    ‘And she’s gotten even stronger…’

Perhaps it was due to all the combat experience she’d gained with me. Kana’s Thousand Thought Heart Style swordsmanship had become more refined. The connections between her movements seemed much smoother.

    ‘Kana… you’re really fired up.’

Besides her possessiveness as a harem member, Kana was the ambitious type. She was always looking to be at the top. But suddenly Tina had appeared with a much higher level than Kana. From Kana’s perspective, it was a blow to her pride.

“Tina!! Just showing off like you’re so great!!”

Kana launched a thrust that skewered both horse and rider whole. Honestly, it was terrifying.

“Hahaha!! Kana!! Not bad!! But you’ve got a long way to go!!”

Kirtan watched the scene and raised her hand high.

    “Kirtan Ship!!! Fire!!!!”

As Kirtan sent the transmission, something began pouring down from the sky.

    PCHOOM-!!!! SWOOSHSHSHSHSHSH-!!!!!

An enormous amount of death rays slaughtered the Death Knight horde. Yes, the crew of the Kirtan Ship had begun bombardment from outside the atmosphere.

    “GAAAHHH!!”

    “KYAAAHHH!!”

    “Wh-what is this…!!”

The Death Knights fell from their horses one by one, collapsing as they were pierced by the beams.

“That person… I thought they were just a ruffian, but are they a high-level magician?!!”

“What kind of magic is that? I’ve never heard of it!!”

The Death Knights shouted in confusion.

    “It’s science, you primitive fools.”

Kirtan said with a cutting smile.

    “Hey!! That’s cheating!!”

Kana seemed pissed that her prey had been stolen.

“What’s cheating about it? I’m a pirate. My ship is also my weapon.”

Kirtan replied shamelessly, pushing Kana away.

    “……….!”

Kana glared back at Kirtan with equal intensity, thrusting out her chest. The two busty girlfriends were desperately pushing against each other with their breasts in a battle of wills.

    ———-

Anyway, the Death Knight horde was being one-sidedly slaughtered without me needing to do anything. I honestly hadn’t expected my girlfriends to be this aggressive.

Given the situation, what I needed to do was obvious.

‘I should take the enemy commander’s head.’

It was the golden rule of war. Cut off the enemy commander’s head and the war is won.

The commander’s presence was easy to spot. Beyond the hill where the Death Knights had charged from, there stood a large man. He was wearing massive armor with long horns protruding from it. He gave off a strong impression of not being from this world.

    ‘Level 99’

Moreover, his level was maxed out at 99. The skull emblem drawn next to him, marking him as an elite, was just a bonus.

    “I’ll be your opponent!!!!!!”

I shouted loudly as I charged toward the hill.

    Clank-!

The fully armored level 99 man stared at me and drew his sword. Yes, yes. You’re the enemy commander, and so am I. Let’s have a proper duel. With such thoughts, I smiled and raised my sword.

But the match didn’t go as expected.

    “KYEEEEEEEEK?!!!!!!!!”

The horned helmet guy let out a crystal-clear scream.

    Swish-! Swoosh-!

Then he magnificently turned his body 180 degrees and took a crouching position.

    FWOOOOOSH-!!

Before I could even speak to him, he displayed tremendous leg strength and ran across the plain with all his might. It was a splendid retreat.

“Wait!!! Hey!! Where are you going!!!! Fight me!!!”

I chased after him with all my strength.

    “H-Hero?!! Why?!! Hero?!! KYEEEEEEEEK!!!!!”

He didn’t even consider listening to me and just ran across the plain with all his might.

“Oh yeah!! You won’t stop, huh?!!”

If he wanted to play tag, I’d chase him to the ends of hell. With that determination, I strengthened my entire body with the Blazing Stance.

    “HYAAAAH!!!!”

I sprinted forward with all my might, almost like in the opening of an eccentric family anime.

When I was certain the distance between me and the obviously hot full-body armor guy had narrowed precariously, I immediately leaped high into the air. Extending my legs straight out was just a bonus.

    “Ultimate Dropkick!!!!”

Extending both legs straight out and delivering the attack with confidence that it would definitely hit—that was the secret to a dropkick.

    BWOOOOM-!

Sure enough, the dropkick cleanly struck the armored guy’s back.

    “GUAAACK!!!”

The fully armored guy rolled dramatically across the ground after being hit by the dropkick.

“You look pretty strong. Let’s fight.”

I smiled and raised my sword.

    “Y-you……”

The armored monster stared at me. Perhaps due to rolling on the ground, the armor on his head was shattered. What was inside wasn’t human. It was a creature with purple skin and goat-like horns.

I shouldn’t judge by appearances, but… this guy definitely looked like bad news. Probably some kind of demon race from a fantasy setting or something similar.

    But… he seemed strangely familiar.

    “It can’t be… you, the Hero… you’re alive!!”

He seemed to know me well.

Yes. I know him too. Somehow… it felt like a dark anger was swirling inside me whenever I looked at him.

“You… that’s right!!! You’re that guy from my past life!!!”

    I immediately recalled his identity.

He was the one who had killed all my harem companions in my past life and eventually met his death by my sword.

“N-no way, meeting you here… did you also dimension travel? But I couldn’t sense your presence at all…!!”

The Demon Lord seemed confused about various things.

But… whether he was confused or not, what I needed to do was clear.

    SHING-!

I immediately drew my sword and took my stance.

“In other words, there’s no reason to let you live. Right?”

It was what you’d call a grudge from a past life. I, with no memories of the past, held no grudge. However, the anger my past self felt was real.

“S-stop!!!! I… I didn’t know!! I didn’t know you were active as a Hero in this world too!!”

The Demon Lord immediately waved his hands and shouted loudly.

“Look. You’re the Demon Lord, right? Do you think I’d let you live? Just draw your sword. Don’t appeal to my sympathy.”

I shrugged and lightly twirled my sword.

    “Damn it…”

The Demon Lord clicked his tongue and drew a rune sword filled with evil magic.

    “HYAAAAH!!!”

Then the Demon Lord swung his sword and charged toward me.

However, the sword swing itself was a kind of feint. The Demon Lord canceled his sword swing and reached out his hand toward me.

    “Die!!!!!”

The Demon Lord immediately stretched out his hand and fired a powerful magic spell filled with hellish power.

    KWAAAANG-!!!!

The magic flew straight at me from zero distance.

However, the Demon Lord was, as always, unlucky. Magic was merely material for my sword’s attribute enhancement. At this point, I had mastered quite a useful technique.

    CRACKLE-!!

The Demon Lord’s hell magic wrapped around my sword.

    SWISH-!!!

As I lightly swung my sword, the magic coated around it.

    “What…?!”

The Demon Lord momentarily showed a confused expression.

I didn’t feel obligated to kindly explain why he lost. So I just brought my sword down vertically.

    SWOOSH-!!!!

The sword split the Demon Lord’s body in half with a great slash.

    “GUAAACK!!!! N-no!!! I can’t… I can’t lose to the Hero again!!!!!!”

With his death cry, the Demon Lord ascended. Yes, go to the storm of time or wherever.

The witches watched the scene from afar with their mouths wide open.

    “R-run away!!! Quickly!!”

The witches immediately began to retreat from the frontline on their broomsticks.

    RUMBLE-!!!!!

But our harem members were more thorough than expected. Kirtan immediately sent a request for fire support, and lasers poured down from the sky toward the witches. With that, the witches disappeared, roasted alive.

My girlfriends had approached at some point, and together we watched the laser show from afar. Yes, this was fireworks, this was an attraction.

    “Shall we go back?”

    I asked with a smile.

    “Yeah. We’ve had enough fun.”

    Eri nodded and replied.

So we decided to return to the royal palace.

    Ding-!!!

My status window seemed to react to the unexpected encounter.

‘Old Nemesis 1: You have dealt with the remnants of the past. This should ease your mind somewhat. Your level cap increases by 1.’

With those words, my level window changed. What had been 99/99 became 99/100.

    ‘So my level cap increased…’

This meant I could grow beyond the game’s stat limits. Honestly, I wondered if increasing the level cap at this point had any meaning… but anyway, it was only right to accept a reward.

    ‘But… something’s bothering me…’

If there was an “Old Nemesis 1,” doesn’t that mean there could be 2 and 3? As I thought about it, I suddenly felt extremely tired. The witches might summon other beings related to me.

“Shota. What are you thinking about?”

    Eri asked.

    “Nothing. It’s nothing.”

I closed the status window and smiled.

Well… I don’t care who the enemy is. I plan to cut down anyone who interferes with my happiness. At Eri’s words, I regained my composure.

    ———

At that time, in Emoshita City, Japan.

Sasitsu and Frill were enjoying a leisurely tea time together.

    “Ah… I’m happy.”

Sasitsu wore a rare gentle expression.

“Sasitsu… are you that happy without Shota around?”

    Frill asked incredulously.

“Yeah. Crazy things always happen when he’s around. It finally feels like I’m getting a proper break…”

Sasitsu muttered with a moved expression.

“Sasitsu… you’ve really suffered emotionally because of Shota.”

Frill looked at her boyfriend with moist eyes. Nevertheless, Sasitsu and Shota were always hanging out together. Frill was amazed by the strange nature of male friendship.

Anyway, Sasitsu was enjoying his vacation in his own way.
