    Ch.36Request, Demon Hunt (4)

The sleep-inducing warmth and comfort of the lodging was welcoming. If I could just endure until Friday like this, I’d be more than happy.

While I was resting comfortably, Agath returned to the lodging.

“So what happened in the end?”

    “They were white.”

Agath said with a bright smile. Between someone trying to peek under a skirt and someone who implemented white panties under that skirt, which one was crazier?

Well, one thing’s for sure—neither of them is normal.

Anyway, as soon as Agath returned, she was getting ready to go out again.

“Where are you going this time?”

“There wasn’t just one statue of the Goddess, but several.”

“…But how did you get away from the nuns?”

“I made a few sexual jokes and they all ran away with tears in their eyes.”

It seems none of them could withstand Agath’s madness. Does anyone in this world even exist who could?

“What exactly did you say that made the nuns run away?”

    “With the Goddess’s holy water…”

    “Please don’t say another word.”

Just those few words made my head spin. If I heard any more…

I don’t even want to imagine what comes next. That’s definitely reason enough to run away.

“Well, I’m off to see the Goddess’s underwear again!”

With that, Agath dashed out of the lodging. And countless gazes poured down on me.

“Come to think of it, doesn’t she look familiar?”

“Yeah, she’s definitely the one who smashed through the department store wall and punched a hole in that villain’s stomach.”

“Isn’t she the one who was playing card games at the bank?”

“Oh right! She’s that weirdo who was tipping the flight attendant at the airport today!”

As I heard people whispering about my embarrassing past, I immediately left the lodging.

Can I withstand the cold? Of course I can, since my face is burning much hotter right now. I really need to start living a quieter life from now on.

    ***

While walking outside, a familiar face passed by. A pretty woman with black hair and black eyes. Had I seen her before?

Must be my imagination. After all, the only familiar person in this world is Ju-an.

As I continued my walk, I ran into that same person again. Hadn’t she gone in the opposite direction earlier?

It must be a coincidence that our paths crossed. I don’t even know the geography of this place properly.

But within 30 seconds, I encountered her yet again. Am I going to run into her again soon?

Feeling suspicious, I looked back and our eyes met. She approached me and said:

    “Excuse me… are you Lite?”

“Yes, I am, but why do you ask?”

“Leo has called for you. Please follow me.”

It seems the reason we kept running into each other was because she was looking for me. I worried for nothing.

Following her into a large tent, I found Leo engaged in a cultured debate with a middle-aged man who had horns and a tail on his head.

“We need to kill a high-ranking demon, so why the hell would you use explosion-type magic, you damn lizard?”

“Obviously to increase accuracy and destroy their base. Don’t tell me you can’t understand even that?”

“What if the base gets destroyed but the high-ranking demon survives?”

“That’s precisely why I called a human with no pedigree like you. If you understand, stop arguing and redesign the magic circle.”

Though they were speaking somewhat harshly, it still seemed like a deep conversation.

“But if we’re talking about pedigree, you lizard-types seem far inferior.”

“Why would you think that, descendant of primates?”

“Your species is a bunch of rootless idiots born from dragons mating with primates.”

“…Do you have no respect for your elders?”

“Why should I show respect to an old fart who’s wasted their years?”

…They were speaking quite harshly to each other, but they were still having an in-depth conversation about the origins of their species.

“As expected of a primate descendant, your speech is vulgar from the start.”

“Your ancestors’ sexual desires were vulgar enough to mate with different species.”

“Unable to win with logic, so you resort to personal attacks?”

“Did I say anything wrong? Your ancestors were primates who waved their dicks at dragons, weren’t they?”

    “…Watch your language.”

“Oh, sorry. Your ancestors were dragons who shook their hips at primates. I didn’t know that.”

…Right now, the two mages were attacking each other personally by bringing up their species. This might escalate to a physical fight.

“If you apologize right now, I’m willing to forgive you.”

“Apologize for what? For calling you a lizard?”

“At least you’re aware of what you did wrong.”

“I’m truly sorry, you hybrid old fart of primate and lizard. I forgot to include ‘primate’ earlier.”

The dragon-man sighed and removed his gloves, revealing reptilian arms.

“I’ll make you regret that miserable slip of the tongue.”

Leo responded by picking up a wooden club nearby.

    “You started this fight.”

The situation had become explosive, ready to ignite at the slightest touch. I needed to intervene immediately.

Because if things went wrong here, the request might be canceled. One hundred million could vanish before my eyes! I had to stop this at all costs.

First, how should I handle the dragon-man…

“Master, please cool your head first!”

Fortunately, the person who brought me here seemed to be handling the dragon-man. So I only needed to focus on Leo.

I blocked Leo’s path and said:

“Calm down first and tell me what happened.”

“That damn hybrid bastard must have lost his mind, insisting on designing with explosion-type magic.”

“Please explain so I can understand.”

“That idiot hybrid is suggesting we use techniques meant for taking out trash mobs to attack the enemy leader!”

“Stop talking nonsense! Annihilation-type magic has high power but too high a chance of missing!”

So they were fighting between focusing on attack power versus accuracy.

“Can’t you just mix both approaches?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. That would weaken the power too much.”

“And it would significantly reduce both range and accuracy. Mixing both is madness.”

“Why do you always have to butt in when you don’t understand?”

“Having limited knowledge and pretending to be an expert in front of professionals—that’s the problem with young people these days.”

“This is exactly why we need mandatory magic education.”

“I agree. At the very least, basic magic should be taught as a mandatory subject.”

Suddenly, they stopped fighting and formed an alliance to debate about mandatory magic education.

    Are these really high-rank mages?

“…So why did you call me here?”

“Right, could you please tell Agath to stop looking up the Goddess statue’s skirt, and tell Rebecca to stop spitting on the Goddess statue?”

“It’s already too late for that.”

“…Then tell Agath to stop making sexual jokes in front of the nuns, and tell Rebecca to stop cursing the Goddess.”

“Those… are both already too late as well.”

“…Sigh, then just prevent these two things. These are truly the last lines we cannot cross.”

I thought we had already reached the bottom of the abyss. Could things get any worse?

“Agath is probably planning something strange, and Rebecca will destroy patients’ faith while treating them. Those two things must be prevented at all costs.”

“What exactly is this strange plan Agath is making?”

“Well… if my guess is correct, she’s probably planning to gather soldiers to gang-rape you.”

“…Why would you even think of something like that?”

“Pass that exact question to Agath. Anyway, please stop those two things for me. I’m counting on you.”

How long must they have known each other for him to predict something like that?

Anyway, I realized that even the bottom has a bottom. And I need to prevent Agath and Rebecca from reaching that bottom.

It’s okay, I can handle this much. After all, the compensation is one hundred million! Just endure a little more.

As I left the tent, I ran into the girl who had been inside.

“…Why are you coming out from there?”

“I had something to tell my master.”

“But you weren’t inside just a moment ago…”

Suddenly, the girl emerged from the tent. So there were two of her in this place.

But this girl… or girls? Anyway, I seemed to be the only one confused by the situation.

    “What… is going on…?”

“That’s my clone created with my supernatural power. It’s nothing strange, I swear!”

The girl started rambling to explain the situation.

Come to think of it, wasn’t there someone among the reincarnated people who had the ability to create clones?

“May I ask you one question?”

    “Yes.”

“Did you come from another world with the purpose of defeating the Demon King?”

    “…How do you know that?”

Suddenly, the girl became wary of me. But one sentence would be enough to resolve this situation.

“I also came from another world.”

    “Why should I believe you?”

“Would you like me to call a friend who came to this world with me?”

“Then do you have proof that person came from another world?”

Thinking about it, she’s right. It would look like my friend and I were conspiring together.

So what could I use as evidence that I really came from another world…

“Were you a high school student?”

“Yes, but why do you ask that suddenly?”

“Honestly, isn’t it nice that this world doesn’t have college entrance exams?”

“No… I studied so hard for those exams, and now it’s all gone to waste…”

“I was a senior in high school but always played around instead of studying, so I wouldn’t know.”

“Wait, you were playing around as a senior? Are you out of your mind?”

Suddenly, the girl started nagging me. This feels familiar somehow…

    “Well… I really wasn’t good at studying…”

“But you still need to study! You have to prepare for college entrance exams and employment!”

    “Anyway, is this enough proof?”

“…It’s hard to believe, but I’ll trust you for now.”

She was still wary of me, but her guard had lowered somewhat.

“So can you tell me exactly who you are?”

“My name is Kim Min-jun… no, it’s Lite now? Anyway…”

    “Kim Min-jun?”

Suddenly, the girl spoke with surprise.

“That is my original name, but why do you ask?”

“Nothing, it’s just the same as a senior I know… But is your name really Kim Min-jun?”

“It’s the name my parents gave me. Do you have a problem with that?”

    “No! It’s just that it doesn’t suit a girl… No, I didn’t say anything!”

    “A girl’s name? This is obviously a boy’s name… Oh.”

Let me say it again: my body is female now. And Kim Min-jun is clearly a boy’s name.

Should I explain that I underwent a gender transformation… but she might look at me strangely…

I should just tell her. I don’t want any misunderstandings.

“Due to unavoidable circumstances when I reincarnated, I changed from a man to a woman… I was originally male.”

What if she looks at me strangely now? Did I say too much?

But contrary to my worries, the girl pondered deeply and said:

“…Which high school did you attend?”

    “Buksan High.”

“Were you number 7 in Class 1, Grade 3?”

    “…How do you know that?”

The girl suddenly frowned and asked:

    “Do you know Park Ha-eun?”

    “Park Ha-eun? Let me think…”

Park Ha-eun… Right, there was a junior in my club with that name. But why is she suddenly mentioning her…

…Looking closely, this girl looks exactly like that junior.

    “…Ha-eun?”

    “It’s been a while, senior.”

The reunion with my junior was the worst possible scenario.
