Ch.36Chapter 36 – The Freshman Suspiciously Favored by the Chancellor (1)

Regina Blasteria.
Unlike her usual self, the Chancellor of Glesius Academy was humming a tune while carrying out her duties.
The Chancellor’s duties mostly consisted of signing approval documents submitted by various departments of the academy, or meeting with leaders of external organizations.
Among these, since meetings with people outside the academy weren’t frequent, she was currently signing documents submitted by the academy’s departments for approval.
“Hmm-hmm~.”
Normally, she would complain, “Ugh, how much longer do I have to deal with these difficult documents?” with irritation, but strangely today, she was even humming a tune.
The reason she was humming while working on documents was quite simple.
‘Now that the side effects are gone, my body feels incredibly light.’
She wasn’t getting tired even after sitting and working on documents for a long time.
The side effects from taking the Rejuvenation Elixir didn’t just stop at making her look like a child.
As her body became younger, her stamina, concentration, patience, and magical power all reverted to their earlier state.
With her physical age being that of a child while her mental age and soul didn’t match her body, she would easily get irritated at the smallest things.
Additionally, she would involuntarily cower at the slightest threat, making it impossible for her to perform her external duties as Chancellor.
But now, Regina had met an incredible connection in her life, and all the side effects from taking the Rejuvenation Elixir had disappeared at once.
“Good, shall I finish today’s work here?”
Now that the side effects from the Rejuvenation Elixir had disappeared, Regina was able to complete document approvals that would normally take all day in just a few hours.
In fact, Regina had once been known as an Archmage with an exceptionally brilliant mind.
For someone with such an exceptional mind, processing documents from various departments of the academy wasn’t a difficult task.
‘Pathos, was it?’
Having finished her document approvals, Regina leaned back in her chair and thought of the man who had given her such a great gift today.
Pathos.
Presumed to be from the Eastern Continent, fluent in the continental common language almost like a native speaker, and possessing the ability to fix anything.
‘It’s truly a remarkable ability no matter how I look at it.’
Regina recalled information about ability users that had appeared until now.
Her mind contained knowledge comparable to the academy’s library.
But even in her mind, there was nothing related to or similar to the ability Pathos possessed.
The ability to fix anything was very strange and unprecedented even to her, who had lived for a long time.
‘Bergen, it’s no wonder that child has his eye on him.’
Regina recalled her recent meeting with Bergen Steyler.

In the Chancellor’s office of Glesius Academy, Regina was meeting with her disciple, Bergen Steyler.
“Master. I recently met someone with a truly remarkable ability.”
“A remarkable ability?”
“Yes.”
“How remarkable is it?”
Regina thought it was probably one of the abilities that had existed before, based on Bergen’s words.
This was because Bergen had mentioned discovering users with remarkable abilities a few times before, but they all had abilities Regina had seen at least once.
Seeing Regina’s indifferent expression, Bergen nodded as if he understood.
“Aren’t you interested in an ability that might solve the side effects of the ‘cursed’ Rejuvenation Elixir that made you younger, Master?”
Regina showed interest, her eyes lighting up at Bergen’s words.
“Really? An ability that might lift this curse caused by the cursed Rejuvenation Elixir?”
When Regina showed interest, Bergen explained to her about Pathos’s ability that he had witnessed with his own eyes.
After hearing Bergen’s explanation, Regina showed an expression of disbelief.
“Is that true?”
“Yes, Master. I saw it with my own eyes. It truly is a mysterious ability.”
Regina thought there must be a reason why Bergen was introducing this person with the mysterious ability to her.
“So, what do you want?”
“Haha, as expected of you, Master. Actually, I was wondering if you could admit that man through a special admission process.”
“Special admission?”
“Yes.”
Regina didn’t understand why Bergen wanted to admit that man through a special admission process.
So she added one condition.
“What if that man can’t lift this curse on me with his ability?”
“Well, then I’ll drink the cursed Rejuvenation Elixir that you drank, Master. There’s still one bottle left, isn’t there?”
Regina reluctantly agreed to his proposal when Bergen set the condition that if the man he mentioned couldn’t fix the curse on her, he would drink the same cursed Rejuvenation Elixir.
This was the administrative procedure that Bergen had mentioned.
◈◇◈◇◈◇◈◇◈◇◈
“And indeed, he fixed that curse on my body.”
Regina could still vividly recall that moment.
Of course, it was only a few hours ago that the curse had been lifted.
But the feeling she experienced when the curse was lifted remained clearly throughout her body.
The sensation of thorny chains that had been tightly constricting her suddenly disappearing, and the refreshing feeling like a blocked dam bursting open.
And simultaneously, the hot exhilaration rising throughout her body and the tremendous flow of mana that reinvigorated her entire body.
But the positive changes in Regina’s body due to Pathos’s ability didn’t stop there.
‘I’ve become much stronger than before I drank the cursed Rejuvenation Elixir.’
Regina clearly felt that she had become stronger than before.
Even before drinking the Rejuvenation Elixir, she had been one of the top ten strongest mages.
But now?
‘Now, I think I could cast wide-area time stop magic followed by a meteor storm.’
Time stop magic was a spell with high computational difficulty and mana consumption, difficult even for archmages to use.
And on top of that, she could additionally cast meteor storm magic, which was comparable to wide-area time stop magic?
This meant that her magical ability had become comparable to that of an ancient dragon that had lived for thousands of years.
Mages are people who spare no means or methods to enhance their magical abilities.
And there was someone who had made her magical ability much stronger than before?
She would probably serve that person as her benefactor for the rest of her life.
That’s how much mages strive to improve their magical skills.
Regina too had stopped aging once her magical skills reached a certain level.
However, no matter how much time she spent training, her magical skills had been fluctuating back and forth.
But today, Regina had tasted the sweet fruit of the magical improvement she had so desired.
And she had obtained it simultaneously with being liberated from the pain of the cursed Rejuvenation Elixir that had been taking everything from her.
She knew very well who had made all this possible.
‘Bergen asked me to take good care of a child named Pathos.’
Regina recalled Bergen’s request and waved her hand in the air.
Then a student management window appeared before her eyes.
She manipulated the student management window with mana in her finger and discovered that Pathos was connected to the student management window.
“Found it.”
Upon finding Pathos’s name, she gently pressed it with her finger as if touching a precious object.
Then a new screen appeared over the original one, and Regina began to write letters with mana on the new screen.
[Pathos. No, I should call you Student Pathos now? Since I’m older, I’ll address you as Mr. Pathos. If you’ve been assigned a dormitory room, please come to the Chancellor’s office right away. I’ll explain various benefits I’ll provide to you, Mr. Pathos.]
After carefully writing the message, Regina sent it.
And not long after, the message turned gray, indicating that Pathos had checked it.
‘He saw my message? I should prepare some tea first.’
Regina used magic to neatly organize the messy Chancellor’s office to welcome Pathos.
Then she placed warm tea and a few sweet cookies on the table.
If someone who knew Regina saw her actions now, they would think they were seeing things.
Because she had never personally prepared tea and cookies for anyone before.
“Chancellor. It’s Pathos. May I come in?”
“Ah, please come in.”
And the guest she had been waiting for visited the Chancellor’s office.
