    Ch.33The Homeless Test Subject (4)

A smile spread across my face without me realizing it.

Now there are no typos and the writing is quite good. How impressive.

“When you say ‘mister,’ who are you referring to?”

At Liberone’s question, I introduced Alreina to her.

Brasya, who had been quietly listening to the conversation, suddenly blurted out something completely random.

“You like young girls, don’t you?”

“What are you talking about, why so suddenly…?”

“Isn’t that Alreina girl extremely young?”

According to the original setting, Alreina is between 12 and 16 years old.

So her description of “extremely young” isn’t entirely wrong.

But if I admit it here, I have a strong feeling I’ll be labeled as trash without even realizing it.

When I didn’t respond, Brasya continued.

“Your silence confirms it. She really is a young girl. She sends you letters, and young Mirella lives with you.”

Brasya frowned while tapping her sharp fangs with her finger.

    “Hmmmm. Hmmmmmmmm.”

I could understand without her saying more.

This half-goblin is mistaking me for a pedophile.

I’d better say something before this gets out of hand.

“That’s not it, Brasya. You’ve got it all wrong. You seem to think I’m some kind of pervert who habitually preys on children. That’s incorrect.”

    “Really?”

“Yes. And honestly, whatever kind of person I am shouldn’t matter to you anyway.”

    “Hyaaang, it does matter!”

    “Why?”

“It’s good for me to know what your preferences are!”

“Why would that be good for you?”

“You never know. Maybe you and I could mate and become a pair someday!”

    “W-what did you say?!”

    “Kyaaaak!!”

Brasya collapsed forward as holy power exploded behind her back.

Startled, I turned around to see Liberone’s eyes burning golden.

“Are you suggesting that the Guardian Angel would mate with you, a half-goblin? That’s blasphemy.”

Blasphemy has been invoked. I’m screwed.

I shouted while blocking Liberone’s path.

    “Liberone! Calm down!”

“Guardian Angel. I cannot tolerate such an insult. This goblin is accusing you of being not only a pedophile but also a monster-lover. I, Holy Knight Liberone, cannot overlook this.”

“Brasya is half-goblin! You need to understand!”

I tried to stop Liberone as she slowly walked forward.

I pushed against her torso with both hands using all my strength, but her stone-like body didn’t budge an inch.

Instead, I gradually started sliding backward.

I tried to hold my ground with all my might, but my hands slipped and I fell flat on the floor.

    “Ack!”

Liberone quickly extinguished her holy power, knelt on one knee, and helped me up.

    “Ouch, that hurts.”

When I touched my cheek, a little blood stained my fingers.

Seeing this, Liberone’s eyes widened as if experiencing a magnitude 13 earthquake.

    “Guardian Angel… severe facial bleeding…”

    Liberone gently caressed my cheek.

    “I’m sorry… because of me, you’ve…”

“It’s okay, Liberone. Really, it’s fine. It’s nothing. Truly.”

    I asked with a smile.

    “Are you calmer now?”

    “Yes… I’m sorry… I should use holy healing…”

Holy power flickered unstably in Liberone’s palm.

“No, there’s no need. It’s just a scrape. Barely any blood.”

I gently pushed away Liberone’s hand that was touching my cheek.

“Whew, Holy Knights are really scary.”

Brasya muttered with a laugh from behind.

Brasya seems to be quite optimistic.

When we entered the shop, Mirella was nowhere to be seen, probably having gone upstairs in anger.

“I need to go wash up!”

Brasya laughed while fluttering her collar.

Now that I looked, Brasya’s clothes were soaked with sweat.

Despite laughing outwardly, she must have been terrified by Liberone’s reaction earlier.

“Guardian Angel. Are you truly alright?”

Liberone approached, bent at the waist, and examined my face.

“I’m fine, really. Don’t you need to go train the knights now?”

    “Yes. I’ll be going then.”

We had previously raided the Remugen mercenary group’s armory to equip the knights.

The administrator sent official documents to Odelin City, which has administrative control over the village.

The documents stated that a vigilante group was being established to maintain order in the village in the absence of an official security force.

Without these documents, the Potion Knights would be considered an illegal armed group.

Currently, the knights are organized with young people regardless of gender, training them and conducting night patrols around the village.

Now, hopefully, no one will be kidnapped in the middle of the night like I was.

After Brasya and Liberone had both left, I sat at the counter and took out a pen and paper.

I intended to write a reply to Alreina.

Even though I wasn’t sure if it would reach her.

    * * * * *

Meanwhile, Mirella was sitting on the bed, taking deep breaths.

She was in a terrible mood after reading the letter that had arrived for her brother.

Most letters that came to the potion shop were official documents from the association.

So Mirella had opened the envelope without suspicion, not even checking it properly.

But what she found wasn’t an official document but a letter filled with round handwriting.

A letter from someone named Alreina who called her brother “mister.”

Just by reading it, she could clearly feel how much this person respected and liked her brother.

This Alreina person was probably the woman her brother had mentioned before.

The woman who had killed the Mad Doctor who had been staying at the villa in Reangso Village.

The one who had stopped by her brother’s shop while passing through the village, and to whom her brother had given various items.

    Alreina.

Until now, everyone her brother knew was also someone Mirella knew.

Always sticking close to her brother, she knew what he was interested in and what he was doing.

    But Alreina was different.

Mirella had never seen her, and she had no idea what conversations were taking place between her and her brother.

Someone who had no connection to Mirella, only to her brother.

    That’s why Mirella felt anxious.

Moreover, this Alreina person was on a completely different level from Mirella.

She had single-handedly killed the Mad Doctor of Reangso, killed a lich who was a moving corpse mage, and was now active in some unfamiliar place.

In contrast, Mirella had never left Starting Village in her entire life.

Her longest journey had been to Odelin City recently.

All she knew how to do was bash goblin heads with a club she’d been lucky to find and fill Healing Potions for adventurers who came to the shop.

Besides that, she had nothing to confidently call her own.

No parents, no money, nothing at all.

If her brother hadn’t taken her in, she would still be a poor, pitiful girl living in the slums.

Looking at her own situation compared to this Alreina person made her feel utterly miserable.

Along with that, she couldn’t shake the feeling that her brother was being taken away from her.

What if her brother liked this Alreina girl too?

Is that why he gave her so many items and exchanged letters with her?

And Alreina said she would come here after her adventure was over—what if they got married then?

Someone like Mirella would probably become unnecessary.

    That would explain it.

She’d been throwing herself at her brother, yet he hadn’t batted an eye. It seemed strange.

Her brother must have feelings for Alreina.

Reaching this conclusion, Mirella gritted her teeth to hold back the tears that threatened to spill.

    Don’t cry, you crazy girl.

    Think calmly.

Nobody knows if they like each other or not.

Even if they do, this Alreina girl is very, very far away, and I’m the one by brother’s side right now.

Mirella touched the hairpin and hair tie in her hair.

Jack had bought them for her in Odelin City.

    See? I have the advantage.

Before that girl returns, I’ll capture brother’s heart and make him mine.

After confirming the door was closed, Mirella opened a drawer and took out a black outfit.

It was something she had secretly bought in Odelin City, away from the eyes of her brother and Liberone.

It was a very revealing outfit made mostly of strings, created only for “special situations.”

    Soon, I’ll use this to…

    “That’s a super cool outfit!”

    “Eek?!”

Brasya, who had somehow approached right behind her, was looking at the risqué outfit in Mirella’s hand.

“What?! Why are you barging into my room?!”

“Lend me some clothes. These are soaked with sweat.”

As Brasya held up her damp clothes, Mirella’s gaze shifted to her body wrapped in a towel.

Mirella angrily slapped Brasya’s shoulders repeatedly with her palm.

“Just like a goblin, what kind of behavior is this, entering someone’s room dressed like that?!”

“Hehehe, that stings. But my clothes got like this, so I had no choice. Hurry and give me some clothes!”

Making a disgusted face, Mirella quickly threw some clothes from the drawer.

Brasya hummed a tune as she put on the clothes right there.

“La la la, la la la.”

Every time she bent over, her chest and buttocks swayed heavily.

“These panties are tight. I should ask Jack to buy me clothes later.”

    “Ugh, really…”

Mirella sighed, holding her forehead as if she had a headache.

Still, thanks to Brasya’s sudden appearance, Mirella was fortunately able to forget about Alreina for a moment.
