# Chapter 33. Fleeing South (3)
The owner of the voice was a paladin emitting a red glow from his eyes.
He was radiating an ominous energy in all directions, and his presence was extraordinary.
It must be Charon who had taken over Rinojohnnson’s body.
The bull-headed demon, caught off guard, tried to strike Charon with its tail, but the fierce attacks from the zombie demons surrounding it meant it could only attempt to do so.
Charon approached it. With calm, leisurely steps.
Then he raised his right hand.
Kuk!
Red energy gathered in Charon’s hand and shot toward the bull-headed demon, sealing its mouth as it was still stubbornly trying to transmit coordinates.
Charon had a means to block coordinate transmission.
“Transmitting coordinates with your dying breath. An interesting method.”
As Charon muttered, the zombie demons subdued the bull-headed demon.
“‘If you encounter a being capable of inflicting significant damage to our forces, alert a higher entity’…”
Grrrr…!
The bull-headed demon, pinned to the ground by zombies, looked at the approaching Charon with fearful eyes.
With pupils dilated like a terrified animal.
Charon extended his hand toward the bull-headed demon again.
Red energy flowing from his hand invaded the demon’s head.
Kyaaaak! Kyaaaak!
“You know more information than the others.”
The bull-headed demon screaming in agony and Charon manipulating the red energy with both arms outstretched.
But why is this guy talking to himself?
Is he mentally ill?
Maybe learning forbidden sorcery made him lose his mind… something like that.
…Judging by the bull-headed demon’s twitching eyebrows, it doesn’t seem like he’s just talking to himself.
This bastard, can he communicate with demons?
It was quite surprising, probably because I hadn’t thought of demons as beings capable of communication until now.
He dominated demon souls and learned their language… that would make sense.
“…You’re not ordinary living beings. You’re a race artificially created solely for war. Magical beings, not an exaggeration to call you elementals.”
Still, just watching like this, it looks like he’s talking to himself.
I eagerly eavesdropped on the monologue of the deranged Charon.
Kaaaak!
“Who is it? The entity above you. Are they the ones who created you? No, there are entities even higher. What are they?”
The bull-headed demon screams, shedding green tears of blood.
“Resistance is futile. Your soul is already mine.”
The bull-headed demon’s pupils roll back and fill with red light.
Damn, this guy who just woke up is already controlling mid-level demons as zombies.
Is this guy really a hidden boss like me?
When will I ever become overpowered? After Charon negotiates with the demons?
Being an actual growth-type character is frustratingly slow.
What’s the point of starting with the mindset of “just endure the early game”? From the beginning, I’m caught in the crossfire of giants.
…But since I started weak, I’ll become incredibly strong in the late game, right?
I’m growth-type but not an overpowered character? That’s nonsense.
If that’s really the case, I might as well just serialize EunuchBro Season 2 on the community.
“Your memories are restricted. I’ll just have to unlock them slowly… What are you?”
Charon’s gaze, which had been spewing monologues earnestly, turns toward me.
– …
Shit, I’ve been caught.
It happened so suddenly that I couldn’t even respond.
“You.”
Charon approaches me.
My body won’t move. He’s trying to take control.
“What kind of creature are you to fearlessly display necromancy before me? You are…”
Charon’s voice trembles as he stares at me penetratingly.
“Loa…!”
To figure that out just by looking intently. He’s definitely not an ordinary guy.
This is dangerous.
“You vile breed. You quietly watched as the surface world came to this. Just like when my children died…”
Charon spits out words roughly, unable to contain his anger as if a seizure switch had been flipped.
“I could accept the destruction of the surface, but you couldn’t tolerate my return?”
I should try saying something.
– Necromancer Charon, I…
“Shut that mouth. You’ve manipulated many people with that tongue. It won’t work on me.”
Why did he cut me off?
“I know you’re all in cahoots. All hiding like rats, watching. I don’t care where you are. I will find you…”
This is getting annoying. Let me speak, you bastard.
Cooperation seems impossible anyway, and even if it were possible, I don’t want to work with this lunatic.
Defeating demons with this guy would just lead to a zombie apocalypse ending.
“I’ll find you and surely kill—”
– How pitiful you look, consumed by anger. Poor soul. Let’s see how you do.
Does he think I can’t engage in verbal combat?
I immediately released the zombie control and moved to totem #2.
“Loaaaa-!”
Charon’s scream fades as my vision changes.
Phew. That bastard was scary.
So I couldn’t do anything in the end?
Anyway, it’s my victory since I dominated Charon’s emotions.
As a bonus, I learned that it’s possible to block a distress call through magical means, so it’s a win-win.
***
The Sky Tree tribe walked through the ruins of Latria.
This place is worse than Dubenheim in terms of destruction.
It had been transformed into a city hit by a nuclear bomb.
Some time had passed, so weeds had sprouted, but seeing the withered plants and uprooted trees rolling on the ground made it hard to hope that it would ever return to its original state.
All this was the work of the cloud demon that came to eliminate George’s raid party.
Is this the price of resistance?
Destroying a region beyond recovery just to take the lives of over 50 paladins?
Vicious bastards. Monsters that cannot be negotiated with.
After walking a bit more, I felt safe enough to check the community.
Charon hadn’t posted anything new.
I decided to post a simple warning.
[UltraSansMadWithMoonlightMassacreMode: (Info) Don’t go to Dubenheim
There are moving corpses everywhere
Zombies? Something like that, and there are zombie demons too, so avoid this place
It’s really dangerous here]
I deliberately left out any mention of Necromancer Charon.
Telling them that Charon had awakened from the necromancer’s tomb and taken over Rinojohnnson’s body… sharing such details would only invite suspicion like “How do you know that?” or “Did you wake him up?”
My “Barbarian Series” remained on the community. Posts couldn’t be deleted once uploaded.
Let’s say I exposed Charon’s identity. What if Charon, who already sees me as a threat, reads my post and deduces my identity or uses some strange magic to track me?
That would be truly fucked.
Not just Charon—I can’t let anyone discover my identity right now.
I’m supposedly the god of barbarians who are enemies of paladins.
Everyone’s a paladin, but one person is a Loa? If it were me, I’d definitely be suspicious. I’d look like a potential threat.
There’s a saying that in a village of one-eyed people, a person with two eyes is treated like a monster.
This isn’t a fairy tale world. If a suspicious person says, “I’m on your side! Let’s fight demons together and save the world!” no one will welcome them with open arms.
Moreover, the possessed people probably have at least one or two mental disorders like Rising Phoenix. What’s the possibility they’d become paranoid and start hunting barbarians to find me?
I think it’s high.
Even Hannah attacked the Brown Rock tribe just because she found them annoying.
Until I build a force that no one can underestimate, I must keep everything secret.
[ShotgunAttack: Suddenly?]
[PuPuPung: That’s almost at the end of the world.]
Comments came quickly.
[FallenPowerKnight: Isn’t that where the Necromancer’s Tomb is? I haven’t been there though.]
ㄴ [SamuraiJackson: It was in the game. The place that gave trash skills, I think.]
ㄴ [FallenPowerKnight: Did the zombies there come outside? Anyway, thanks for sharing the info]
[ITrustedTheMonkeyMan: I looked up where Dubenheim is and it’s really far. Probably won’t have any reason to go there.]
They’re figuring it out themselves. That’s fortunate.
[NotACatfish: Hey, are you okay?]
After briefly replying to Hannah’s message, I checked the progress again.
What’s this?
– …!
On a rock I was casually passing by, helmets were piled up. Paladin helmets.
– Wait. Just a moment.
It was truly an urgent situation, but this was something I absolutely wanted to confirm.
Who gathered all these helmets here?
For what reason?
As I got closer, I could see letters that seemed to have been carved with a knife on the rock where the helmets were placed.
The crooked letters were written in Korean.
[My community friends and the bravest warriors of Earth, rest here in this foreign land.
– MeleeSpy]
…So this is the grave of George’s raid party.
I feel a lump in my throat.
Since no bodies remained, did he gather the helmets to create this memorial?
MeleeSpy… if you’re capable of such a noble gesture, why do you write clickbait posts like EunuchBro?
They say you never truly know what’s in a person’s heart.
After that, we safely arrived at the Golden Sun tribe in Bolbano without any further incidents.
