It was true that I had suffered considerable losses due to the plan unraveling from the start.

    Nevertheless, I persevered and stubbornly continued with the event.

    After all, everyone makes mistakes at first.

    So I promptly proceeded with the third and fourth rounds.

    ‘Yes, this is it.’

    As I continued, I was able to reduce damage while appropriately increasing kills and assists.

    But perhaps Jessica couldn’t understand why I was so diligently grinding through common-rank ships to progress through the event.

    “By the way, Commander, you’ve lost three battlecruisers and an entire fleet of smaller ships just for a mini event.”

    “Hmm, that’s right?”

    “Do you really need to sacrifice so many ships? The resource fleet’s efficiency has dropped by almost half because of this event.”

    “Ah.”

    She was complaining to me using the resource fleet’s efficiency as an excuse.

    Of course, from the perspective of someone responsible for managing our base’s resources, such complaints were understandable.

    I nodded at Jessica’s reaction and was about to explain why I was sacrificing so many fleets for this event…

    ‘…Why do I always try to become Mr. Explanation on my own?’

    Realizing I was about to become a terrible info-dumper, I shook my head internally.

    As always, I decided to substitute my explanation by showing her the gallery’s wiki tab and other necessary information posts.

    Writing this since it’s not in the official announcement

    Round 5 isn’t a 1:1:1 but a 2:1 battle

    You fight against powered-up NPC fleets.

    How are they powered up?

    The enemy fleet has about 2.5 times more ships than yours and your ally user’s fleets combined, and they use super-large ships as flagships that users can’t deploy in the system

    I’m talking about ships that you can only get from gacha

    But the fleet composition is completely random lol

    Sometimes they’ll just bring ordinary battleships or aircraft carriers

    Or they might bring out dreadnoughts or even larger super-ships that no one in the gallery has obtained yet

    Or sometimes special ships like shield ships, warp ships, or annihilation ships might randomly appear

    Anyway, what does this mean?

    It means you need to team up with the user who’s your ally to take down the enemy fleet

    Then play a game of chicken to gobble up the flagship, got it?

    -[This event is always most fun at the end]

    -[“Now kill each other.”]

    -[LOLOLOLOLOLOL]

    -[Wait, there was something like that?]

    -[So can we also deploy battleships or better in round 5?]

    -˪[It says in the announcement that we can’t](Author)

    -˪[What a shame]

    Title: Wait, could we capture ships in this event?

    Author: Anonymous

    Content: [Screenshot of text saying to capture NPC ships.jpg]

    Is this for real?

    I didn’t know this and kept destroying ships I liked with tears in my eyes?

    Comments

    -[The announcement didn’t say ship capture wasn’t allowed]

    -[Then it’s allowed, simple as that]

    -˪[Oh damn]

    -[LOLOLOLOLOLOL]

    -[But it’s hard to capture ships when you can only bring one Superhuman, you know]

    —————————————–

    “Ta-da.”

    “Ah, I see.”

    That’s right.

    Since common-rank ships can be rebuilt anytime.

    If I throw them away to somehow get through the rounds?

    Then in the final 5th round, capturing the NPC’s flagship would be the happy ending.

    “Do you now understand my grand plan, Jessica?”

    “That’s impressive, but couldn’t you have just told me this from the beginning instead of hiding it?”

    “Then it wouldn’t be a surprise.”

    “…”

    ==========

    Anyway, after that chat.

    I decided to reorganize my event fleet to replace the ships lost during the consecutive battles.

    And well, the result.

    —————————————–

    <Event Fleet Composition Status>

    <Subspace Submarine: 1 ship = 50 points total>

    <Battlecruisers: 3 ships = 90 points total>

    <Heavy Cruisers: 2 ships = 20 points total>

    <Light Cruiser: 1 ship = 6 points total>

    <Destroyers: 5 ships = 15 points total>

    <Patrol Ships: 19 ships = 19 points total>

    <Total Points: 200>

    —————————————–

    “Icarus, why do you need this lady’s fleet?”

    “All our small ships were completely wiped out, so I’d like to borrow some.”

    After the fierce battles(?) through round 4, our small ships were completely depleted.

    So I incorporated Princess Luca’s royal guard fleet… or rather, her personal hobby fleet.

    Somehow I managed to reach 200 points and assemble enough forces to participate in the event.

    “It seems my fleet makes up more than half of your fleet.”

    “The Neranzara-class and battlecruisers are mine, aren’t they?”

    “But everything else seems to be from my fleet.”

    “Paying attention to such minor details means you lose.”

    Of course, during the negotiation process with Princess Luca herself, things almost went sideways, and I nearly faced a major crisis due to insufficient fleet points…

    After some sweet-talking and offering various additional terms in the negotiation.

    “When we return, I’ll increase your fleet construction subsidy by 2.5 times.”

    “Ooooh!”

    When I promised to increase the monster fleet construction subsidy to 2,500 minerals and 1,000 rare resources.

    With a response indicating that would be sufficient, our small and cute Princess Luca nodded vigorously in agreement.

    Of course, even after successfully concluding the negotiations…

    When it came time to actually hand over command of the fleet, her hands were trembling.

    “B-but Icarus, you’re not going to destroy all my cute babies, are you?”

    Seeing her show such deep affection for fleets that were essentially consumables.

    I imagined the monster fleet that would mostly be ground to dust in this battle.

    Judging that telling such a harsh truth would likely ruin our hard-won agreement.

    “…I’ll try my best to keep them alive.”

    “Hueek.”

    I turned my head to look at the distant mountains, promising only that I would ‘try’ to keep them alive as much as possible.

    Of course, in response to my reaction, Princess Luca’s expression became very, veeeery complicated.
