Ch.326[Chapter 326] Mythical Skin
by fnovelpia
“Yeobong. I’m here… Oh my! What is all this?”
The baroness, who had just finished her preparations in the back room, was startled by the mountain of Gacha Stone pouches piled up.
“They asked me to make skins with these.”
The baron put his rosewood pipe in his mouth and took a couple of puffs.
The sheer quantity of Gacha Stones required him to take a deep breath.
“…With that much, I’ll really need to give it my all. I should change my clothes right away. No, I might even need to call next door.”
“Please do. My goodness. With this much, I can’t even imagine how magnificent the clothes will turn out.”
The baroness went back to the back room to change her clothes.
Since the door was slightly open, her conversation could be heard from inside.
“It’s been a while, Titis. Nothing serious. I just got a big job today and wondered if you’d like to join me…”
“Wait a moment. While my wife is gathering her assistants, let me ask you a few questions.”
The baron said he would ask Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica a few questions.
“First. What is the purpose of this outfit?”
Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica thought for a moment before answering.
“Something that wouldn’t look strange no matter when it’s worn, and comfortable.”
“I’d like it to be suitable as a basic skin.”
“Ah, I see.”
The baron took out a notebook from his pocket and began writing something down.
“So it needs to be comfortable enough to use as a basic skin, durable for long-term wear, and dignified enough to be appropriate for both casual and formal occasions. Quite challenging.”
The baron frowned at Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica’s requirements.
However, with such an abundant budget, he figured there wasn’t much they couldn’t accomplish.
“Very well. Next question. How much decoration would you prefer?”
“Decoration, huh.”
Sir Dominic fell into thought.
Simple would be nice, but given the expense, perhaps some elegance would be appropriate.
Hadn’t Mister Nova said as much? That Sir Dominic was now tier 4 and needed a basic skin befitting that status.
Sir Dominic recalled the attire of various people in Gachaland.
And he realized that a moderately ornate style would be fine.
Rather, something too simple or too complex might stand out… Hmm. On second thought, that might not be bad either.
Sir Dominic pondered a bit longer before reaching a conclusion.
“The decoration doesn’t matter much. As long as it includes what we’ve mentioned.”
“Ah. Yes, that’s what I wanted to say too.”
Sir Dominica nodded in agreement with Sir Dominic.
“Good. Then my final question. What concept do you have in mind for the skin?”
“A knight concept.”
Sir Dominic answered immediately, as if the question didn’t need asking.
“I’ve been a knight from the beginning, I’m a knight now, and I’ll be a knight in the future.”
“No, I meant the era… Well, alright. A somewhat retro style might be good for this part.”
The baron took another puff from his rosewood pipe after finishing his final question.
Then he took down the bagpipes hanging on the wall.
The bagpipes were so well-maintained that not a speck of dust could be found.
Sir Dominic already knew this was part of the skin-making process.
As soon as the baron picked up the bagpipes, the back room door opened and the baroness appeared.
The baroness was wearing a bright and splendid dress in green and yellow, with a flower crown on her head.
“It’s been a while since I wore this outfit. I wonder when Titis will arrive.”
“It’s been a while, sister.”
“Oh my, you’re here? Speak of the devil!”
As if she had heard the baroness’s words, the door opened and a noblewoman entered.
Unlike the rather plump baroness, she was quite thin, but despite her extreme thinness, she was more beautiful than bizarre or frightening—a middle-aged woman.
“You look so-o pretty today. Reminds me of the old days. Right?”
“Well, I wore this because you told me to, but what kind of big job are you planning to… What is that?!”
The noblewoman named Titis, dressed in a blue and sky-blue dress, spoke with an air of annoyance though her posture was upright. Even she staggered in shock at the mountain of Gacha Stones piled up.
“…You said it was a big job, but did you rob a bank, sister? I always knew this would happen. You complained that clothes that cost just a bit more than the principal weren’t enough for rent, but you should have consulted me before doing something like this!”
Titis thought the baron and baroness must be involved in some crime, given the incredible amount of Gacha Stones.
The pile of Gacha Stones before her eyes was so large it seemed unreal.
“Titis, that’s not it. These are funds generously provided by the knights here who want clothes made.”
“…What? It’s Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica!”
Titis turned her gaze from the pile of Gacha Stones and finally noticed Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica standing nearby.
When she realized they were Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica, she was so surprised she almost stopped breathing.
“Did, did I ever mention that I’m a fan of Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica?”
“You did. That’s why I called you.”
“Thank you, sister!”
Titis was one of Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica’s ardent fans.
She had become a fan of Sir Dominic after watching the broadcast battle between The Tentacle Explorer and Giant of Hundread Hands, and later became a fan of Sir Dominica as well while researching more about Sir Dominic.
“Excuse me, Sir Dominic? Could I get your autograph here?”
The thin noblewoman produced dolls of Little Sir Dominic and Little Sir Dominica from somewhere.
While the authentic Little Sir Dominic and Little Sir Dominica dolls generally followed Sir Dominic’s skins, these were slightly different, indicating some modifications.
Titis presented the back of Little Sir Dominic, who wore gleaming plate armor that had clearly been polished meticulously, and handed Sir Dominic a permanent marker she produced from somewhere.
Sir Dominic was surprised by the sudden request but saw no reason to refuse, so he nodded and took the marker.
“Very well. Your name?”
“Could you write it like this? ‘Stay healthy, Titis.'”
“Hmm. I shall.”
Sir Dominic wrote the sentence on Little Sir Dominic’s plate armor as Titis requested, and signed “Sir Dominic” below it.
“Thank you, Sir Dominic! Oh, could Sir Dominica sign too?”
Titis asked Sir Dominica with a flushed face like a teenage girl.
Sir Dominica, like Sir Dominic, found no reason to refuse, so Little Sir Dominica’s armor was inscribed with “Prosper, Titis. Sir Dominica.”
“This is the best day of my life.”
Titis fussed over her blue dress to make sure it wasn’t wrinkled and hugged both dolls tightly with her arms.
She planned to pass these dolls down as family heirlooms for generations.
“Titis, shall we get to the main point now?”
The baroness cleared her throat and gave Titis a meaningful look.
She had brought her most trusted assistant to create clothes worthy of those Gacha Stones.
“Ah, right. So Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica handed over this many Gacha Stones to make clothes?”
“That’s right.”
The baroness nodded.
“We’ve already kept them waiting too long. We should start as quickly as possible.”
“Alright. Just for today, I’ll help with all my might, sister. I won’t even take the agreed payment.”
I’ve already received my payment anyway. Titis said this as she carefully set the dolls aside.
“Shall we begin now?”
The baron asked the two noblewomen.
“Yes.”
“I’m ready, brother-in-law.”
The two noblewomen nodded, indicating they were prepared.
As soon as he heard this, the baron put the bagpipes to his mouth and began playing music with all his might.
Unlike the gentle music from before, this was very cheerful and energetic.
The tempo gradually increased until it reached a level where one might wonder if he was even breathing.
“Now it’s our turn too.”
“Yes, sister.”
The baroness and Titis began dancing to the lively music.
The noblewomen, who started chanting magical spells while spinning around the mannequin and the cauldron with scales, fell into a trance and began dancing more vigorously.
Fairy wings appeared on their backs, and fairy wands materialized in their hands.
Floating naturally in the air, they put sparkling powder into the cauldron and, with amazing magic, lined up the mountain of Gacha Stones and put them into the cauldron.
As the Gacha Stones accumulated in the cauldron, a soft light began to leak out.
First steel, then bronze, then silver, then gold, then platinum, then beyond the brilliant colors of diamond like a rainbow, and finally, like light emerging from primordial chaos, a truly radiant light began to leak out.
It took longer than before, was more intense, and after the more brilliant procedure ended…
“Wow, it’s finished.”
“Oh my, my bones ache…”
Before Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica’s eyes appeared two outfits of brilliant light.
Two golden armors with golden emblems and golden decorations, woven with golden thread.
…Huh?
