Ch.325[Chapter 325] Mythical Skin
by fnovelpia
Sir Dominic visited Baron & Baroness after a long time.
“Welcome… Oh my! Isn’t it Sir Dominic!”
“Good to see you, madam. It’s been a while.”
“It’s been a while indeed. If my memory serves me right, our last meeting was during the jelly downpour, correct?”
“That’s right.”
Sir Dominic exchanged small talk with the Baron’s wife.
“By the way, it’s been a while since you visited. Since you’re here, I assume you’ve come to have clothes tailored, correct?”
“That’s right, madam.”
“For the lady behind you as well?”
“Indeed.”
At Sir Dominic’s words, the Baron’s wife seemed to feel playful, and with a “hmph” sound, she turned her head sharply.
In a playful manner, of course.
“You’re not going to have one tailored and then forget about it like last time, are you?”
“I might. But if you knew how serious I am about this skin, you’d take those words right back.”
Sir Dominic couldn’t bring himself to lie, but he hit exactly what the Baron’s wife wanted to hear.
“Very well. Let’s see just how serious you are.”
With those words, the Baron’s wife went into the back room through a door attached to the counter.
“Honey! Wake up!”
“Mmm… dear. I told you to wake me only when guests arrive, or at dinner time, or at 6 o’clock yard time…”
“The guests we’ve been waiting for are here!”
“Well, that’s different.”
There was a clattering sound from the back room.
Then, an elderly man with a strong jaw, wearing a beret and sweater with an emblem over it, and a checkered skirt, came out holding a pipe.
“Welcome, Sir Dominic. It’s been a while.”
“It has been a while, Baron.”
“Indeed. I heard you came as a customer today. And who is the lady behind you?”
“I am Sir Dominica. Pleased to meet you.”
Sir Dominica politely introduced herself to Whistle Baron, who looked old but still strong.
It could be considered a courtesy to a warrior.
Whistle Baron seemed to realize that Sir Dominica was no ordinary person, and slightly bowed his head with a measure of respect.
“I am Baron Whistle. Just call me Baron. Anyway, since it’s clear you’ve come to have clothes made, let’s move on. How much research have you done?”
Baron Whistle asked Sir Dominic directly about the price.
This might seem quite rude, but it was the Baron’s way of being considerate, knowing that Sir Dominic led quite a busy life.
Though he pretended otherwise, the Baron had been collecting rumors about Sir Dominic through newspapers.
“I think it will be about this much.”
Sir Dominic opened his inventory and took out a Gacha Stone pouch.
It was a large-capacity pouch, so at 4,800 or 6,600 Gacha Stones per pouch, it would make for quite expensive clothing…
“Ah, wait a moment. I haven’t taken everything out yet.”
“What?”
The Baron thought this was already enough, but Sir Dominic continued to take out Gacha Stone pouches.
When the number of pouches, not much different from the first one, exceeded ten, the Baron, who prided himself on not being surprised by much, was greatly shocked and gulped.
“Did you rob a bank or something?”
“Something like that. To be precise, I accumulated quite a bit of money in Tycoon City.”
“Ah.”
The Baron finally realized the source of Sir Dominic’s money.
With the capital from Tycoon City, where enormous amounts of money changed hands daily, this many Gacha Stones made sense.
“With this much for the two of you, we can make excellent clothes. If we do it right, they could be legendary-“
“Ah, just a moment. Mine is separate.”
The Baron looked at this terrifying mountain of Gacha Stones with disgust, but the procession of Gacha Stones was not yet over.
Sir Dominica began pouring the Gacha Stones she had been saving onto the pile Sir Dominic had already created.
It was truly a hill of Gacha Stones.
At least enough to form a small hill.
“This should be enough. It won’t be insufficient, will it?”
“…Are you two planning to create some mythical-tier skin?”
The Baron looked at this glittering hill of Gacha Stones with a disgusted expression.
“With this amount, you could buy not only mythical-tier skins, but also a castle, a village, or even a small city.”
“That’s true.”
Sir Dominic nodded at the Baron’s words.
“Indeed, it is excessive spending for just one outfit.”
Sir Dominica spoke as if acknowledging this fact.
“But this amount also represents how much I trust you, Baron.”
“Trust me?”
The Baron asked again, as if he didn’t understand Sir Dominic’s words.
“What do you mean by that?”
“You and the Baroness are the most satisfactory clothing specialists I’ve encountered so far.”
“…You haven’t been anywhere else.”
“Was I that obvious?”
Sir Dominic scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
“Actually, I wanted to have more durable clothes made this time.”
Sir Dominica spoke the truth, not just flattery.
“I want a skin that’s tough and durable enough to wear for a lifetime.”
“Now that’s what I’m talking about. Yes.”
The Baron nodded as if he finally understood.
“But this is too much. Even a tenth would be more than enough.”
“Do as you see fit with the rest.”
“Better to have too much than too little.”
Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica spoke as if it were nothing.
In truth, while Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica gave various reasons, the real reason they were willing to spend so much money was because they were tier 4.
Sir Dominic recalled what had happened just before coming here.
…
A few dozen minutes earlier.
Sir Dominic was walking down the street after leaving the cafe.
His destination was Baron & Baroness in the Market Area.
“I remember it was around 1,300 Gacha Stones last time. This time we should spend a bit more.”
“We have plenty of that amount. …We really haven’t spent much Gacha Stones, have we?”
Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica chatted while checking the Gacha Stones in their pockets.
Since Sir Dominic hadn’t properly spent Gacha Stones after buying one skin and a house, he had hundreds of thousands left, and Sir Dominica, though less than Sir Dominic, had tens of thousands.
Given that the value of Sir Dominic’s house was approximately 7,000 Gacha Stones, Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica were incredibly wealthy.
If they included all the miscellaneous items in their storage and inventory, their assets would only increase, not decrease.
They were truly self-made wealthy individuals!
Realizing this fact, Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica looked at each other with surprised eyes.
They had spent so little that they didn’t even know they had accumulated this much.
“W-well, that’s quite impressive.”
“Indeed. I never imagined we had this much.”
While Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica were briefly delighted by their enormous assets, Sir Dominic received a message.
[Would you be available for a call right now? – Mister Nova]
“Mister Nova?”
Sir Dominic thought for a moment about who Mister Nova was, then remembered he was a judge from the Tier Evaluation.
A man with yellow hair styled in three spikes, and a beard split into two, making him look like a yellow star.
“Um, please wait a moment. I need to make a call to someone.”
“…? Alright.”
Sir Dominic immediately asked for Sir Dominica’s understanding and called back the number that sent the message.
As if Mister Nova had been waiting for Sir Dominic’s call, the call connected immediately.
[“Ah, Sir Dominic. Do you remember me? I’m Judge Mister Nova.”]
“I remember you. Few people have such a distinctive personality, so I remember you well. But why the sudden contact? Is something wrong?”
Sir Dominic thought there might be an issue with the evaluation, given that he was a judge for the Tier Evaluation.
However, that seemed to be a needless worry.
[“No, there’s no problem, but I missed one announcement last time.”]
“Announcement?”
Sir Dominic asked Mister Nova.
“What announcement?”
[“It’s nothing major. Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica… By the way, is Sir Dominica with you?”]
“She is.”
[“That’s good. Actually, I was going to call her separately, but could you relay the message to her?”]
“I will.”
[“Thank you. So… With Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica’s promotion to tier 4, you should have received several achievement skins.”]
Sir Dominic remembered receiving skins as achievements immediately upon becoming tier 4.
“That’s right.”
[“Basically, the number of skins should be at least one more than your tier number. Since Sir Dominic is tier 4, you should have 5 skins. Of course, I know that Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica have more than 5 skins, but…”]
Mister Nova trailed off before continuing.
[“Well, the difference between the basic skin and the achievement skins is too great. Sir Dominic, you’ve been wearing that outfit since tier 2, right?”]
As a judge who had evaluated Sir Dominic’s tier, Mister Nova remembered the situation well.
“…That’s right.”
[“Would you consider changing your default skin?”]
“As it happens, I’m on my way to buy new clothes right now.”
Sir Dominic found this situation quite coincidental.
Going to get a new skin tailored and receiving a call asking to change his skin? What timing, like something out of a novel or movie.
[“That’s excellent. The law has been amended recently, and now the Executive branch subsidizes 50% of the cost when a tier 4 creates a new skin. So please feel free to create a good skin without financial burden.”]
“Thank you.”
Mister Nova, seemingly relieved by Sir Dominic’s response, left one final word and ended the call.
He was probably busy, needing to spread the announcement to others as well.
“What did he say?”
Sir Dominica had been listening to Sir Dominic’s conversation beside him.
“He said tier 4s need at least 5 skins. But since our basic skins are inferior to our achievement skins-“
Sir Dominic relayed the explanation he had just heard to Sir Dominica.
“That’s great!”
Sir Dominica clapped her hands in delight.
“We were already on our way to change our skins. What a coincidence.”
“Indeed.”
On their way to Baron & Baroness, Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica discussed what kind of skins to create.
Since the Executive branch would subsidize 50% of the skin’s price, they planned to spend their resources generously this time.
That was the reason Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica created a hill of Gacha Stones.
