Ch.324I, Who Am I? “The King of Neutrality.” (5)
by fnovelpia
I wondered why the Biomass Clan, unlike other clans, showed no interest in me.
It wasn’t that I felt bad about it—actually, it was rather nice not being bothered—but was this really okay?
Moreover, these movements of theirs had become known to the gallery through the residents(?) living in Avalon…
But even the gallery users could only respond that they didn’t understand it either.

Title: Why isn’t Biomass even trying to recruit Icarus?
Author: Anonymous

I really don’t know how to describe it
Other clans are at least seen talking with Icarus occasionally
But Biomass over there only speaks with Icarus when they happen to meet by chance
Instead, they just send ships to dock permanently at the monster faction’s delegation at Icarus’s base
What’s up with our clan?
Are you trying to prove your tentacle fetish again instead of doing what you’re supposed to?

Of course, regarding my suspicions and the gallery’s reactions, Wiridi, the half-human half-insect lady, gave a calm response while her carapace brushed against her soft underbelly.
“So, is Icarus considering changing factions?”
“Factions, you say?”
“Yes.”
“Um… no? I’ve worked hard to get this far, so why would I…?”
“Then there’s no issue, right? We’re both in the same faction anyway.”
“Ah.”
That’s right.
‘Since you and we are all in the same monster faction, why should we go out of our way to bother you?’
This was the basic attitude maintained by the Biomass side, which is why they didn’t bother talking to me separately.
In other words, despite being able to, they were being considerate by not bothering me…
For me, just not being a nuisance was enough to earn them additional internal points.
And right after saying that.
“Well… if you want, we could certainly flirt with you too.”
*Squelch*
‘Huh?!’
“No, that won’t be necessary at all.”
Meanwhile, she naturally pulled out slimy, sticky tentacle strands from somewhere on her body? Or clothes?
It was hard to tell exactly where they came from due to the mixture with her carapace.
Thinking this conversation might turn into something dangerous in various ways rather than a clan discussion, I immediately shook my head and expressed my refusal.
In response to my reaction, Wiridi put away her tentacles with a disappointed, sullen expression.
She then explained that the previous situation was just a joke and revealed why they acted so “indifferently” toward me.
“It was a joke, so please don’t take my previous behavior too seriously.”
“I see.”
“As for why we act so indifferently toward you… I suppose it doesn’t matter if I tell you.”
While maintaining her characteristically expressionless poker face, she revealed the “truth” that the clan itself wasn’t very interested in recruiting me in the first place.
“To be honest, although you’re in the monster faction, Icarus… you haven’t modified your body or outfit like we have, right?”
“Well, no.”
“So our clan’s upper management honestly thinks that since your base hasn’t become monstrous, and your fleet, yourself, and your superhumans mostly maintain their forms…”
“Yes?”
“They judge you to be closer to Justice than to us, so they don’t particularly want to recruit you.”
‘What the heck is that about?’
But after she gave such a detailed answer, I realized why this user named Wiridi, who came as a representative, was so indifferent and expressionless.
‘If I were sent on a meaningless errand like this, I’d be twisted too.’
But once I realized that truth, I also noticed something strange.
“…But for someone who’s been given such a tiresome task, you seem to be in a good mood.”
“Oh, was it that obvious?”
According to what she said, she should be so consumed by laziness that she’d just be holed up in her own base, letting time pass by.
But contrary to that, Wiridi was docking her ship at our base…
More precisely, at the “Nest of Life” created by Griyanar and the monster faction, checking in almost daily.
I don’t know if it was something good for her or not…
“…Your facial expression brightens up every time you return from our Nest of Life. It’s not hard to notice.”
“Oh my… how embarrassing.”
When she heard what I said, Wiridi suddenly blushed and broke into a cold sweat, showing a very flustered appearance.
Seeing that reaction, a certain process in my mind quickly started piecing things together.
‘Wait, our Griyanar is obsessed with tentacles, and there…’
Monster faction tentacle and insect enthusiast + tentacle-loving Griyanar + “Nest of Life” full of all kinds of experimental organisms, parasites, tentacles, and drugs = ???
And once that process was complete, I quickly nodded and said I understood.
Then I hastily ended this meeting, deciding to respect Ms. Wiridi’s personal hobbies.
—
Somehow I ended up uncovering Wiridi’s secret hobby.
Fortunately, I was the only one who knew about it, so we agreed to bury the topic.
With nothing else to discuss, we ended the meeting.
As always, I decided to complete some daily quests and erase the mental process that had just occurred from my mind.
But whether this was good or bad, I don’t know…
Quite fortunately for Wiridi, less than five minutes after ending our meeting,
A situation so intense hit me that I completely forgot about what had happened.
And what was that situation?
“Oh Commander, are you done talking with the Biomass side?”
“…I learned something I shouldn’t have known, but is something wrong?”
“Yes, since representative clans from each sector have all gathered at our base…”
“Right.”
“So representative… clans from the Xenovia Empire have arrived, but…”
*BOOM!*
*BANG!*
“…”
“Well… you know, right?”
Upon hearing that branches of the 3(+1) major clans had gathered here,
The Magellan-Northern Alliance, which was engaged in civil war and power struggles within the Xenovia Empire,
And the Southern Union opposing the Northern Alliance had each sent representative users here.
The problem was that these representatives had encountered each other just before reaching our base, resulting in
Their fleets engaging in all-out war right in front of someone else’s base in real-time.
‘Wow, truly legendary.’
And this situation was immediately being uploaded to the gallery by other users docked at the stronghold.

Title: Real-time situation in front of Avalon Fortress

Since representative clans from each sector are coming, it seems Xenovia users also sent their representatives
But they’re still in civil war, so both Northern and Southern users came together lol
And as soon as they spotted each other on the way, they started fighting immediately, neutral zone or not.

I had no intention of letting this mess slide, so I immediately decided to subdue both fleets and drive them away.
