Ch.324[Episode 324] Daily Life

Sir Dominic enjoyed a proper daily life after his meeting with Captain Elang.

No bugs, no hacks, no troublemakers, and no incidents or accidents—it was a genuine everyday life.

The weather was even clear and the sunshine warm, so Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica had come downtown and were having coffee at a café.

“I don’t know how long it’s been since I’ve had such an ordinary day.”

“Wait, stop. It’s better not to say that.”

    “Why not?”

“Because whenever someone says that, something always happens.”

Sir Dominica looked around nervously at Sir Dominic’s comment.

Fortunately or not, the incident Sir Dominica worried about didn’t occur.

Well, Gachaland was where people lived, so incidents couldn’t happen all the time.

    “You worry too much.”

Sir Dominic took a sip from his coffee cup, which was still half full.

He had a complacent attitude that nothing could go wrong on such a nice day.

    “No, but still—”

Sir Dominica continued to scan their surroundings vigilantly, wondering if she was overreacting.

Just then, something caught Sir Dominica’s senses.

She instinctively realized someone was watching her from that alley.

Sir Dominica quickly turned her head.

“You seem tired. You’re acting exactly like I did the other day.”

Sir Dominic casually sipped his coffee, as if understanding her behavior.

“…I guess so. My senses must be off.”

Sir Dominica stared at the alley, but there was no one there.

She glared at the alley several times, convinced someone had been there, but no one suddenly appeared.

Finally admitting her mistake, Sir Dominica sat back down and poked at her tiramisu with her fork.

“…You really must be tired. You react to nothing, yet fail to notice this.”

    “What?”

Sir Dominica looked at Sir Dominic as if asking what he meant.

Sir Dominic pointed to Sir Dominica’s right.

Sir Dominica quickly turned her head in the direction Sir Dominic was pointing, and there was Alice, tiptoeing toward them with cat-like steps.

“Ah, Master! I told you to shush!”

Alice, embarrassed at being caught, directed her frustration at Sir Dominic.

Alice had grown even taller, now a slender beauty standing a head taller than Sir Dominic.

Her actual age remained in her teens, and her mental age still that of a 3-4 year old prankster.

“Chain mail rattles too much for sneaking, doesn’t it?”

    “…Ah!”

Sir Dominic pointed out that the chain mail Alice was wearing wasn’t suitable for stealth.

Hearing this, Alice seemed to have a realization and said:

“Then next time I’ll wear plate armor!”

“…Any armor would be about the same… no, never mind. You’re still growing, so it might not be worth buying. Chain mail is sufficient.”

    “Yes!”

Sir Dominic gave Alice advice about armor.

While plate armor could be made with some room to accommodate a bit of growth, it wouldn’t work for someone like Alice who was growing noticeably every day.

Alice didn’t know this fact, but she always believed her master was right, so she immediately accepted and gave up on wearing plate armor.

“By the way, what brings you downtown—”

    “Our-child’s-clothes-have-become-too-small.”

Sir Dominic’s answer came from high above.

When Sir Dominic looked up, there was Alice’s mother, a frost giant tall enough to almost touch the sky.

The café terrace parasol had hidden her from view.

And Alice’s mother’s gaze was the same one Sir Dominica had felt from the alley earlier.

The parasol made it difficult to see clearly, so he bowed his head to confirm her face.

“I didn’t realize Alice’s mother was with you. I apologize for my rudeness.”

Sir Dominic immediately stood up and bowed his head according to proper etiquette.

He considered it a great discourtesy that he had only noticed Alice and not her guardian.

However, Alice’s mother seemed used to such situations and waved her hand dismissively.

    “No-problem. I-just-happened-to-see-you-two-and-came-over…”

Alice’s mother’s hands were thicker than most walls, so Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica nearly got blown away by her gesture.

Fortunately, they were both tanks with high resistance to status effects, allowing them to withstand the tremendous air pressure.

After that, it was a very ordinary day.

Some small talk and well-wishes, and Alice’s disappointment upon hearing about training again tomorrow…

    “Make sure you come tomorrow.”

    “Yes…”

    “Alice? Give-your-master-a-bright-smile.”

“Ah, it’s fine. At that age, one always wants to play, don’t they?”

    “That’s-true.”

After a bit more conversation, Alice and her mother parted ways with Sir Dominic, saying they were going to look around clothing stores.

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica waved goodbye as they watched Alice happily bouncing away in the distance.

    “Clothes, huh.”

Sir Dominic stroked his chin, remembering what Alice and her mother had just said.

Then, as if suddenly remembering something, he turned to Sir Dominica.

“Come to think of it, it’s been quite a while since we bought clothes, hasn’t it?”

“Huh? We bought some yesterday. T-shirts.”

Sir Dominica responded as if he was talking nonsense.

“No, not everyday clothes like that, I mean skins.”

“Don’t we have plenty of skins?”

“They’re all ones we got as bonuses. It’s been quite a while since we bought any directly.”

    “…You’re right.”

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica realized it had been quite some time since they had purchased skins themselves.

    But this was unavoidable.

They had accomplished so many feats that they had received too many skins as rewards.

To be honest, even Sir Dominic himself couldn’t count how many skins were stored away in his warehouse.

Additionally, there were gifts from other citizens trying to gain Sir Dominic’s favor, so there were probably more skins than either Sir Dominic or Sir Dominica imagined.

Sir Dominic glanced down at his own clothes.

Even now, Sir Dominic was wearing his knight’s uniform, the first skin he had obtained and purchased with his own money.

When first made, it had been a brilliant gold, but now it had faded to a light yellow.

The fabric was worn in various places, as if to show all the hardships and adversities he had overcome.

    “…I think it’s time for a change.”

Sir Dominic was quite attached to this outfit.

He had many other skins, but none he had worn as long as this one.

However, no matter how much he liked it, walking around in such worn clothes could diminish a knight’s honor.

Sir Dominic thought it was about time to purchase new clothes.

“Why? Why not replace it with one of the existing skins?”

“Somehow I’m not attached to the other skins. Besides, they’re too flashy to wear for long periods.”

What about that outfit decorated with golden ropes? Sir Dominica wanted to ask, but thinking about it, compared to other clothes, the knight’s uniform he was currently wearing was simply neat, not necessarily flashy.

That small difference must have been what appealed to Sir Dominic.

“I should visit that place after a long time.”

Sir Dominic gulped down the remaining cold coffee and stood up.

Once he had the thought, he needed to act on it immediately.

    “You don’t mean that store?”

“I do. Would you like to come along?”

Sir Dominic asked if Sir Dominica wanted to join him.

Sir Dominica pondered his offer briefly, then quickly devoured her remaining tiramisu and jumped to her feet.

    “New clothes are always welcome.”

    “I thought you’d say that.”

Sir Dominic had expected Sir Dominica to come along.

Sir Dominica and Sir Dominic were people who changed clothes once a day out of cleanliness, and such people wouldn’t be stingy about buying new clothes.

Of course, the logic was flawed, but Sir Dominic was Sir Dominica. Sir Dominica had been thinking about buying clothes with similar reasoning.

“I’d like to get something better this time.”

“Well, we’ve earned quite a bit so far.”

Sir Dominic thought about the Gacha Stones he had saved as rewards.

Since he hadn’t spent many Gacha Stones after buying a house, they must have accumulated quite a bit.

If they weren’t enough, he could “exchange” at that place they visited before.

“I wonder if it’s still there.”

    “What?”

“No, nothing. Let’s go. We have enough money.”

Sir Dominic said this as he began walking toward the Market Area.

He was heading to Baron & Baroness, where he had bought his first skin.
