Ch.323[Chapter 323] The Value of 4 Stars

To conclude, Sir Dominic was able to successfully complete the prologue.

And on that day, a patch was added to Gacha Land.

[We have fixed a bug where data was partially deleted when certain OS had certain antivirus software installed.]

[We apologize for the inconvenience caused by our operational shortcomings, and as compensation, we will provide 1200 Gacha Stones and a guaranteed 3-star recruitment ticket.]

[From now on, commanders can safely access Gacha Land regardless of which system or antivirus software you use.]

[P.S.: …No. Not that system and that antivirus. Let’s exclude those. Wow. We never imagined such a thing.]

Only the system would know what that system and antivirus were, but Sir Dominic learned through the system message that Captain Elang’s problem had been resolved.

    “Isn’t that right, Captain Elang?”

    “Ah, yes!”

Captain Elang, who had been sipping orange juice through a straw from the cafe, hastily responded to Sir Dominic’s words.

“I’m so relieved. Who would have thought the antivirus was the problem? I kept trying without knowing, so of course it wouldn’t work.”

Captain Elang sighed, thinking back to that time.

“Above all, to think that enormous shock was literally a crash—could I ever have imagined this world would be so humorous?”

Captain Elang shuddered as she realized the full extent of that terrifying shock, but soon resumed sipping her orange juice as if it was all in the past.

“By the way, it’s amazing. Here I can really… taste things.”

    “…? Isn’t that normal?”

“Huh? Oh. That’s right. For citizens living in Gacha Land, this would be normal. You’re right.”

Captain Elang nodded, considering the special nature of Gacha Land.

She thought that while commanders might be outsiders, for the people of Gacha Land, this place was as real as reality itself.

“Ah, that was good. Thank you, Sir Dominic. I enjoyed that.”

Captain Elang stretched and stood up after finishing her orange juice.

From what was said, it seemed Captain Elang had somehow received a drink from Sir Dominic.

“It’s nothing. So, what are you planning to do now?”

Sir Dominic casually answered Captain Elang’s thanks and asked another question.

Captain Elang twisted one of her braids and grinned.

“Since I’ve received 1200 Gacha Stones and a 3-star selection ticket, plus today’s salary came in…”

It was a bright smile that seemed somewhat twisted.

“I’m going to open card packs right away.”

That was the smile of a ghost who had yet to achieve what she wanted.

Star I’m Not Little was editing a video to upload to GachaTube today.

Normally, an editor would have handled everything, but unfortunately, the editor who was supposed to work today had gone to the hospital with carpal tunnel syndrome, leaving her no choice.

Of course, since I’m Not Little had been an editor herself, the editing was going relatively smoothly, but…

“…Today was the release day for that new online soccer game.”

As busy as her hands were, her mouth was equally busy grumbling.

“I had devised a brilliant strategy using Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica as defenders, but because of this editing, I can’t even play…”

I’m Not Little complained throughout the entire editing process.

Fortunately, her video editing skills were quite excellent, allowing her to create a GachaTube video in no time.

The fact that it was her own video also contributed to the quick editing.

“Ugh, finally done. Now I just need to upload this… get it reviewed for monetization… and that’s it.”

I’m Not Little hastily uploaded the video, eager to play her game.

Of course, considering her experience as an editor and her time as a streamer and GachaTuber, there was little chance of any problems arising.

“Now, for Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica’s cards… huh?”

I’m Not Little searched for Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica’s cards to input into the soccer game with tired eyes.

Suddenly, she noticed a video on her screen. Below the title of the short video, which was less than a minute long, it said “Trending #3.”

While I’m Not Little didn’t particularly like these types of short videos, for some reason she clicked on it.

The location in the video was a place most people in Gacha Land would recognize—the Card Pack Exchange.

The video showed a commander who appeared to be an air force officer with blonde braided hair, surrounded by other commanders.

[“Wow, that’s intense. Are you still drawing?”]

[“Didn’t they say 4-stars haven’t been patched yet? And you’re just randomly drawing 3-stars—”]

The voices in the video were clearly referring to the commander in the center of the screen.

[“Hey, Commander? Let’s go now. We can come back next time. You won’t even have money left for ramen at this rate!”]

[“Yeah. Commander. This is getting really weird.”]

[“Suzuki and Li are right. It might be better if you calm down a bit—”]

[“Waaah! Why! Why am I the only one with bad luck? Why only me—waaah…”]

The commander, apparently having failed to draw what they wanted, collapsed and began sobbing.

    [“Um… Sir Dominic isn’t available as a 4-star yet…”]

[“You should have told me that first!”]

    [“But I did…”]

    The video ended there.

The person who recorded the video and its subject seemed to be different people, as the title mocked the commander in the video.

The comment section wasn’t much different, mostly filled with comments making fun of the commander in the video.

    -Lolol intelligence level lolol

-This is… a commander? Ugh. Disgusting.

-And there’s one person who disliked it lol

“Why do people watch and enjoy this stuff?”

I’m Not Little frowned after watching the video.

“People who laugh at this kind of thing must have poor interpersonal relationships, no friends, and be somewhat stupid. Yes. Definitely.”

It’s absolutely not because I recently had a similar experience trying to draw 4-star Sir Dominic.

Muttering to herself, I’m Not Little immediately moved her mouse to click the dislike button.

It wasn’t at all because the commander’s behavior somehow reminded her of herself.

    Really.

At the entrance to the Demon Lord’s Castle, which had somehow become one of Gacha Land’s tourist attractions.

A girl with black wolf ears and tail, breathing heavily, began frantically looking around.

“They’re not following us anymore, right? Right?”

“I’ve been saying that for several minutes now…”

A girl in a white coat, who had been dragged along almost like she was being tortured, hanging from the black wolf girl’s tail, replied weakly.

    “Oh, really? Sorry.”

The black wolf girl apologized to the girl in the white coat.

Until just now, they had been in the hidden world and had somehow escaped back to Gacha Land.

The interesting fact was that they could travel between the hidden world and Gacha Land without a commander.

    How was this possible?

It had to do with where they belonged.

“By the way, we didn’t reveal our identity, did we?”

“No. I didn’t tell anyone we’re from the Paper Doll Troupe.”

    The Paper Doll Troupe!

It was one of the eight major clans remaining in Gacha Land.

Externally, it was famous for having both the Demon Lord and the Hero as members, and internally, it was essentially a fairy-tale-like clan with the Hero’s party and the Demon Lord’s army all mixed together.

“I think we should report this to the Demon Lord. But… I can’t do it this time! You do it, Bear Wolf!”

“What? It was your turn this time! I did it last time, so it’s your turn now, Mad Lang!”

The two girls suddenly began squabbling.

It was a dispute over who would report to the Demon Lord.

Why didn’t they want to report? It was because of the Demon Lord’s cruelty.

    “How should I say it… she’ll definitely be disappointed…”

“Her eyes will well up with tears…”

No, it wasn’t that the Demon Lord was cruel, but rather that the prospect of disappointing the Demon Lord was cruel to them.

Once you’ve fallen for the charm of Demon Lord Princess Teu Le Vante and Hero Po Ru Jak, the Demon Lord’s tears become a punishment more cruel than any torture.

“Fine. I’ll do it this time. But you have to do the next three times! If we might see the Demon Lord’s tears, I need interest!”

“Okay! I accept. I’m even willing to do it four times!”

After arguing for a while, the two girls finally reached a dramatic agreement.

The girl in the white coat would report this time, and in exchange, the black wolf girl would handle the next three reports.

Having reached this dramatic settlement, they clasped hands and nodded to confirm to each other that the negotiation was complete.

“Oh, right. We also need to return this to the Hero.”

The girl in the white coat pulled out a soft plush seal from her pocket.

A shield-shaped Duke Jack family seal made of cloth and cotton.

“While I report to the Demon Lord, you go return this to the Hero.”

“Why? We could keep it a little longer—”

“Today is the return deadline, and we’ll have to pay a late fee tomorrow.”

    “—I’ll return it right away!”

And so the two girls parted ways, heading toward the Demon Lord and the Hero.

This was the true nature of the charismatic clan, the Paper Doll Troupe.
