Ch.31The Homeless Test Subject (2)

“Wait a moment! I can speak!”
“Liberone. Stop.”
At my command, Liberone immediately halted.
“Hmph, pulling out a knife right away. As expected, humans love violence.”
Seeing Liberone stop, the creature flashed a cute smile.
“What are you? A monster or a person?”
“Curious about who I am?”
When I asked, the creature playfully leaned forward with its hands behind its back.
However, through the loose neckline of its ragged clothes, an incredibly heavy and large cleavage was revealed.
“Curious indeed. Hey, weren’t you following us around recently?”
“Oh? You’re quite observant, aren’t you?”
“It would be strange not to notice someone openly lurking around and spying. So what are you? A mutant monster?”
“Whaaaat? Mutant?! I’m not that!”
The creature stomped its foot in irritation, causing its chest to bounce dramatically.
“I’m Brasya. The one and only half-goblin created by the great Doctor!”
The great Doctor?
Suddenly, a thought occurred to me.
The Mad Doctor, the first boss that the original protagonist Alreina defeated in Reangso Village.
He had been conducting insane experiments, crossbreeding humans and monsters to create new species.
Could this be what she’s referring to?
“Hmm, is that so? Why are you here? For revenge?”
“Revenge? Am I crazy? After seeing the goblin massacre, you think I’d seek revenge? I’m not as stupid as I look, you know.”
You do look stupid though.
“I didn’t say that. But… what about those pigs?”
“These are the pigs you lost back then.”
Five pigs accompanied the half-goblin.
At that time, we had bought twenty pigs from Odelin City and lost five during our encounter with the goblins.
The number matches, but I’m not sure if these are actually the same pigs.
“Proof?”
“Here.”
The half-goblin turned one pig around to show its back.
There was a somewhat faded black paint-like mark on its back. It was the Stench Potion.
Something we had applied to prevent monster attacks.
Those do seem to be our pigs…
“You need the pigs, right?”
“That’s right. Thanks for bringing them back. Return them.”
“First, make me one promise.”
The half-goblin held up her pinky finger.
“If I return the pigs, take me in.”
“What?”
“I said, take me in.”
“Where?”
“Where else! Your village!”
“Our village…? You mean here? Why so suddenly?”
“Will you take me in or not?!”
“I can’t make a promise without knowing why you want to come to our village.”
Liberone, who had been silent until now, spoke with a heavy voice.
The half-goblin flinched at Liberone’s voice and stepped back a little.
Having seen how Liberone literally blended the goblins like a mixer with her sword back then, she seems quite frightened.
“The Guardian Angel is a noble person. If you return the pigs, he will surely respond to your kindness appropriately.”
Liberone’s words carried a powerful force of trust.
After silently looking back and forth between Liberone and me, the half-goblin spoke.
“No going back on your word later?”
“That will never happen, goblin.”
“It’s half-goblin, not goblin.”
The half-goblin snapped, then immediately cleared her throat with a fake cough.
“Now, everyone line up!”
“What’s that? Is she crazy? Giving orders to pigs… KYAAAAH!!”
Mirella, who had been whispering, screamed.
The five pigs moved in perfect unison, forming a straight line?!
“Hehe, how about that?”
“You can talk to pigs? Is that possible?”
“Of course! The great Doctor made me that way!”
“Explain that in more detail. No, first send the pigs over.”
“Alright, time to go back to your master.”
At the half-goblin’s words, the pigs oinking while maintaining equal distances between them as they walked toward us.
Mirella’s eyes nearly popped out at the sight.
That’s really amazing.
“Hehe, they’re so obedient.”
The half-goblin giggled as she watched the pigs’ wiggling bottoms.
“Oppa, oppa. I’ve never seen anything like this before. A green person? She’s mixed with goblin? How is this even possible?”
Mirella whispered.
“I know, right…”
“What are you going to do? Are you really going to take her in?”
“The Guardian Angel will keep his promise.”
Liberone answered on my behalf.
So she’s a half-goblin with the ability to communicate with pigs…
“Come with us for now. Let’s talk in detail.”
After dismissing the knights, I headed to the shop with the half-goblin.
The five pigs followed as well.
The pigs lined up neatly behind the half-goblin. It’s truly fascinating.
Upon arriving at the shop, the half-goblin looked around the interior with curious eyes.
“What are all these?”
“Healing Potions. Drink them for strength, apply them to treat wounds.”
“Oh, so such things exist? By the way, what’s your name?”
“Jack.”
“That’s a really common name.”
“True. You said you’re Brasya? What exactly are you? Are you a research product of the Mad Doctor from the villa in Reangso Village?”
“Mad Doctor? He’s the great Doctor!”
“Right, right. Anyway. As far as I know, that doctor specialized in mixing different species to create something entirely new. Is that what you are?”
“That’s right. I’m a hybrid of goblin, human, and pig.”
“Pig…? Is that why you can talk to pigs?”
This is quite innovative. That doctor really was completely insane.
“But why did you come all the way here?”
“The laboratory was destroyed.”
Brasya answered in a slightly subdued voice.
“A few months ago, some crazy woman suddenly barged into the lab, killed the Doctor, and killed all the other creations the Doctor had made.”
She’s talking about Alreina.
“How did you survive?”
“The woman let me go because I could speak human language. She told me to go out and live freely. But I was born in the lab and lived there my whole life—how was I supposed to find freedom outside? For me, freedom was being in the lab.”
Brasya snorted.
“So I just went back to the lab after the woman left. I stayed there, secretly stealing food from human houses or barns. But when I returned a few days ago, the lab had collapsed!”
She’s referring to when Liberone destroyed the villa with her sword, claiming to be purifying it.
“Sigh, can you imagine how it feels to lose your home overnight? That devastating feeling?”
“I’m sorry.”
“If you’re sorry, you should take responsibility! I was trying to tell you that when I followed you, but as you can see, my body is so heavy, heheh.”
Brasya laughed while touching her large chest.
After hearing her story, I realize that Brasya’s situation is entirely my fault.
I was the one who sent Alreina to the lab, and I was the one who brought Liberone to the villa.
Alreina killed everyone in the lab except Brasya, and Liberone demolished what remained of the villa.
Suddenly, I feel extremely sorry for this half-goblin.
“Anyway, that’s why you should let me live here. It’s your fault that I lost my home and became homeless. Isn’t that right?”
Brasya’s argument is valid.
While it was right to eliminate a place where the Mad Doctor’s evil experiments were conducted, that’s just our perspective.
Brasya herself did nothing wrong but suffered the calamity of losing her home overnight.
Our village is already short on people, so even though she’s a hybrid goblin born from experiments, bringing her in would be helpful.
Especially her ridiculously rare ability to communicate with pigs is exactly what our village needs right now.
We need to raise our twenty pigs well and increase them to hundreds or thousands, which requires advanced pig farming techniques.
With Brasya’s crazy ability to make pigs march in formation, a thousand pigs might not be just a pipe dream.
Let’s let her live in the village.
“You’re right. We’ll take responsibility for you. Come live with us in our village.”
“Really? You’re really accepting me?!”
Brasya brightened up and grabbed my hand eagerly.
“Hee, thank you. I was actually really scared. I tried hard to follow you to confront you, but I was afraid you might turn me away. What’s ‘turn away’? That big knight might have cut me in half! Ah, I was terrified and lost about how I would survive alone. But I guess there’s always a way out even when the sky falls.”
The half-goblin’s lament is quite adorable.
“Let’s report to the administrator and introduce you to the villagers. Otherwise, you might be mistaken for a monster and end up on a skewer.”
I took Brasya to the village hall.
“Heh, so this is the village. It’s a very modest place.”
“It will grow bigger in the future. Even bigger than Odelin City.”
“Really? I hope so. If the village grows, it’ll be more comfortable for me to live here.”
I can see the hall ahead. And someone standing in front of it.
At first, I thought it was a ghost.
What else would you call a tall woman with black hair hanging like seaweed, emanating a gloomy aura?
“Administrator?”
The administrator quickly ran to me and clung to me.
“Jack… Jack… Uuu, I’ve been waiting…”
“Are you okay? Is this because of the Healing Potion?”
“Quickly… give it to me quickly… I can’t bear it anymore…”
“Did you already finish what I gave you?”
“I tried to save it, but I drank it all last night… I tried to hold out until you came today, but I just couldn’t bear it anymore…”
The administrator buried herself against me with a desperate expression, which was quite troublesome.
As expected, Mirella rushed over and pulled the administrator away from me.
“What are you doing?!”
“Sorry… but I really can’t hold on anymore…”
Mirella, who was about to snap at her, saw the administrator’s hollow eyes and stepped back with a start.
“Just give it to her, oppa! She looks like she’s going to die!”
“What’s this? Girlfriend or wife?”
At Brasya’s question, Liberone briefly shook her head.
“She’s our village administrator. As you can see, her mental state is very unstable, and her dependence and obsession with potions are abnormally strong.”
“Addiction, maybe?”
“That’s one way to look at it. Now that you’ll be living here, you’ll see a lot of this.”
“Then what are you?”
“I am the Guardian Angel’s Holy Knight.”
“Guardian Angel? Jack is an angel?”
“That’s right. You, a goblin, cannot comprehend the dimension in which such a noble being exists.”
Brasya stared at me with an incredulous expression.
I’ll have plenty of time to explain that later, but first I need to deal with the administrator who won’t let go of my waist.
“I feel like I’m dying… I’m so tired and my body feels heavy… I keep sinking to the ground…”
“Here, Administrator. Here’s a potion.”
“Uuu, feed me…”
After opening the cap and putting it to her lips, the administrator began to suck on the bottle with an obscenely ecstatic expression.
Watching this, Mirella’s face showed a complex mix of contempt and disgust.
