It’s been a week since I ate that “sweet” Barracuda.

While the forward base and resource fleets were all operating normally, and the fleet reconstruction was also proceeding smoothly…

<<<Superhuman Soldier Training Facility Construction Complete!>>>>

<As of this moment, production of ‘Superhuman Troops’ is now possible as assault forces!>

    —————————————-

    “Oh.”

When I received the message that the <Superhuman Soldier Training Facility> I had started building before the Walpurgis invasion was complete.

Finally, I’m ending my life as a level 8 base, which was like a forced march through hardship, and at last entering level 9.

It’s quite remarkable when I think about it—it feels like just yesterday when I was struggling at level 6 while everyone else was at level 7.

Now I’m already on the verge of level 9, and I couldn’t help feeling good about it.

    ‘Hmm, feeling good.’

Naturally, seeing me like this, Jessica, who was beside me, wagged her short, stubby black rabbit tail, showing her interest in my reaction.

“Commander, are you that happy about the Superhuman Soldier Training Facility being built?”

“Of course. Our base is now officially entering level 9, isn’t it?”

    “Hehe, that’s true.”

Thinking I couldn’t keep this joy to myself, I decided to enter the Solo Ranker chat room after a long time to subtly brag about it.

    -<Icarus has entered.>

    -[hi](Icarus)

    -[Welcome Icarus](Menaldu)

-[Why is the notice like that again?](Icarus)

-[Because Koenig is selective about who gets consulting, so those who didn’t make the cut crawl in here and start nagging](Indefatigable)

    -[I see](Icarus)

    —————————————-

Of course, if I started bragging right away, I’d just be a jerk, so I first greeted everyone and commented on the notice.

Then, once the atmosphere seemed to lighten up, I casually dropped a hint about level 9…

-[By the way, are there any users talking about reaching base level 9 these days?]

-[It seems like everyone was struggling at level 8 until recently](Icarus)

    -[Yeah, quite a few]

-[I pressed the level 9 construction button a week ago, so it’s well underway]

-[These days, among the newbies I’m consulting, quite a few are about to enter level 9](Koenig)

    -[Oh really?](Indefatigable)

    -[Yeah, about 3-4 people?]

-[But they can’t build level 9 because they don’t have resources lolol](Koenig)

-[I’ve built level 9 itself, but the auxiliary buildings are so expensive I can’t even think about them](Laura)

-[Wow, I’m just now reaching level 9](Icarus)

    -[Congrats](Laura)

    —————————————-

I thought I might be the first user to reach level 9, but contrary to my expectations, our Solo Ranker friends were all saying they were already in progress or had already done it.

Of course, considering these people all have excellent connections, and the people around them are all similarly advanced…

It was natural for them to react that way, so I responded nonchalantly in the chat.

Then I pushed the Solo Ranker chat window aside and immediately opened the community gallery search to check.

But as I searched, thinking “Well, I must still be among the top tier…”

As someone once said, if you expect something, you’ll be betrayed by those expectations. Contrary to my hopes:

-[Reached level 9, give me upvotes lolol](1,555)

    -[First in the gallery?](745)

-[If the above poster is a woman, she’s my wife](16,560)

    -[Level 9 is heeeere!](5,592)

    -[What’s this? Level 9 construction proof?](6,813)

    —————————————-

    ‘Ah, I’m late.’

Unfortunately, not just in the chat room but also in the gallery, there were numerous posts from people who had already reached level 9 or were in the process of building it.

From my perspective, it was hard not to feel a bit dejected.

Of course, seeing my expression, Jessica, who was looking at the gallery with me, nudged my side with her elbow.

“Still, Commander, at the very least you’ve risen to the top 10%, haven’t you?”

    “…Hmm, I guess so.”

“Yes, if we exclude duplicates from the gallery search results, you must be around there.”

    “Hmm.”

It sounded quite plausible, so I decided to be satisfied with the fact that I had risen from the bottom 50% to the top 10%(?) in rank.

After coming to terms with that, I immediately tried to start the level 9 construction…

“…How much resources do we have right now?”

“Since we lost quite a bit during the Barracuda conquest, we have about 3.5 million minerals and 1.2 million rare resources left.”

    “Hmm.”

    ‘Can’t build this right away.’

The moment I saw the frighteningly expensive upgrade requirements for the level 9 base, I could viscerally understand why rankers like Koenig and Laura said they couldn’t build it because it was “expensive.”

    ==========

Meanwhile, at the same time Icarus was sticking out his tongue at the outrageous cost of the level 9 base…

After conquering the Barracuda logistics supply base and securing two level 5 strongholds, under the judgment that there wouldn’t be any major battles for a while, Icarus had ordered his Superhumans to take it easy until further notice.

The Superhumans belonging to our protagonist were each killing time doing whatever they wanted to do.

And since they all had such unique personalities, their ways of passing time were quite diverse.

In the case of Ignis, Partia, and Smeragi:

“I thought I told you all to rest.”

“We’re resting while escorting you, Commander.”

    “Well, it’s a decent approach, I suppose.”

The three of them took turns, one person each day, escorting Icarus.

The other two would spend their vacation leisurely in their own ways.

Pashtra and Lephan, perhaps because they had similar chest sizes or because they just clicked well together, were openly hanging out with each other and building their friendship after receiving vacation time from Icarus.

As for Berial and Tiamat, who were in charge of Icarus’s fleet and carrier aircraft respectively, along with Marian, who had gone beyond the master-disciple relationship and was essentially their equal now, and Aquarius, who commanded one fleet, they were enjoying their vacation or discussing fleet command when they had time.

And finally, in the case of Griyanar, the embodiment of an excellent mad scientist…

    “Hngaaah! T-this battle suit I made♡ It’s such incredible stimulation♡”

“Before stimulation, if we leave you like this, Professor, your brain might completely melt.”

    “Nngiiih♡”

…While trying to modify battle suits (?) for troops to be produced at the Superhuman Soldier Training Facility into living tentacle outfits, she ended up being forcibly “worn” by it instead, rolling around on the laboratory floor.

The problem was that this was meant to be a “fitting test,” so she, along with “Rain” and Femi Ganf (physically modified), and even the laboratory researchers, had to wear these outfits…

Until the next morning when Icarus came to the “Nest of Life” with questions, they had to endure non-stop “sensations,” and because of that, Griyanar and the researchers had to take a complete day of rest due to poor condition.
