Of course, the process of consuming Barracuda wasn’t exactly easy.

Honestly, what soldier would stand by while someone tries to blow up their mess hall?

Above all, it had become impossible to start by spamming missiles to take out their power and defense facilities like before.

There were many problems in various ways, but…

Anyway, after attempting various effoooorts, we finally managed to get our hands on the Barracuda base.

Although more ships exploded during the process than at Avalon.

There was even a moment when Hresvelgr almost turned into Hres/velgr, but anyway, the end result was good, so that was nice.

And naturally, news about me spread instantly on the community board not long after.

Title: Rank 3 occupies second Level 5 stronghold lolololol

    Author: Anonymous

Content: [Barracuda logistics supply base orbit filled with ship debris]

Devoured this one even faster than Avalon lolololololol

But because of that, the mercenary corps got absolutely shredded

I was watching the stronghold siege and it was seriously brutal

Without any particular guard, they blew up the gate with Kraken teleport first, then just crushed the enemy fleet with pure power

Meanwhile 4 or 5 main fleets managed to escape and they started mindlessly brawling with each other

Ships getting torn apart everywhere, jeez

-[Why is this guy talking so weird?]

    -[Calm down and speak slowly]

-[So basically Rank 3 smoothly devoured a Level 5?]

-[Damn, at this rate he could genuinely take on 500 people alone and still have energy left]

    Too scary

Should we try to bring him down a notch?

    -[Lolololol]

-[How exactly would you bring him down?]

-[But seriously, how would you even try?]

-˪[Honestly, it’s not like he created a clan or anything, he’s just growing steadily with his own abilities, right?]

-[This is definitely a hate post]

-[It’s boring when you’re so obvious about trying to start drama]

-[First hate campaigns, now blind worship]

Well, there were many other discussions too.

Unlike when I first consumed Avalon, the community’s reaction was more like “once is hard, twice is easier,” so it felt strangely underwhelming.

Thinking the response was oddly mundane, I closed the community window and opened the status window of the newly acquired stronghold to check the details.

    —————————————-

    After carefully reading through everything,

I was somewhat considering moving from Avalon if there were useful functions or buffs, but…

    ‘This is really ambiguous.’

On one hand, thanks to the internal teleport network system, I could now move back and forth whenever I wanted.

And with the additional resource warehouse opening, combining everything meant I could now store over 20 million resources by myself, which was good.

But one of my original goals, “fleet points,” could only be obtained by docking my base at Barracuda.

And while there were various other benefits, well…

    “Hmm…”

    “What’s wrong, Commander?”

“No, I was just checking what would happen if we docked at Barracuda.”

“Well… there’s no real need to dock, is there? Looking at it, there’s a lot of stuff but nothing really substantial, right?”

    “That’s true.”

There weren’t enough attractive benefits to abandon the perfectly good Avalon.

And even the stronghold mercenary corps could only be obtained by docking there…

“Ah, Aquerias? I’m just asking out of curiosity… what happens to our contract with Avalonia the moment we dock at Barracuda?”

-“You mean the employment contract? Naturally, the contract will be terminated when your stronghold changes.”

    “Ah, thanks for the answer.”

    “Oh my.”

“This is quite a difficult decision… can’t be helped.”

There was no reason to throw away the well-balanced Avalonia security fleet and risk getting 500 patrol ships or 500 resource mining ships if I was unlucky with the “new stronghold mercenary corps.”

    After analyzing the various situations:

“Alright, we’ll maintain our docking with Avalon.”

    “Yes.”

I decided to keep the docking as is, and use Barracuda strictly as a resource pumping station and pure resource warehouse.

    ==========

And as I was conquering Barracuda and organizing its interior, I realized I had consumed far more resources than expected.

“Somehow our resources seem a bit low.”

When I made this comment while noticing our base resource warehouse looking strangely empty, Jessica, who was in charge of resource management for our base, nodded and spoke up.

“During this Barracuda conquest, Commander, you used approximately 6 million minerals and 970,000 rare resources.”

    “…I used that much?”

    “Yes.”

Nodding calmly at my words, Jessica immediately pointed to the surrounding situation from the Barracuda command center’s perspective shown in a hologram.

“Unfortunately, three main fleets managed to emerge in the later stages, which terrified you into calling additional mercenary corps.”

“Ah… so that was the problem.”

Hearing Jessica’s words, I shuddered as I recalled the main fleets that had emerged from Barracuda faster than expected.

“They came out faster than expected, those guys.”

“No one could have predicted there would be hidden gates.”

We had destroyed all the gates where main fleets could come and go, and were confidently engaged in an all-out battle.

Then suddenly, dozens of battleships and main fleets popped out everywhere—the shock was immense.

As a result, the mercenary corps, which had only lost small ships while overwhelming the security fleet, were terribly shredded while fighting the main fleet that appeared through the hidden entrance.

Fortunately, thanks to Neranjara’s space torpedoes pounding the gate, we were able to avoid a miraculous reversal defeat.

Well, anyway, now I knew that resources—600 million minerals and about 900,000 rare resources—had been spent in the process of taking that place.

I felt excited at the thought of leisurely gathering resources again for the time being.
