    Ch.305Side Story (4)

    # Originally, New York in history was a city of desire.

It was considered one of the greatest modern cities, with tall buildings and advanced civilization.

But in this world, New York was just a small fishing village.

The kind of fishing village you’d occasionally see in documentaries, with fishing boats catching fish.

“Wh-what’s going on? Don’t tell me America collapsed? Wait, come to think of it, how did America even form in the first place?”

Thinking this, I searched for American history in the search bar.

Then a familiar website caught my eye.

    “They have Wiki here too.”

Fortunately, Wiki seemed to exist even in this changed world.

    Anyway, I searched through Wiki.

The results immediately showed that the current America wasn’t the modern America I knew.

“Alaska, British Columbia, Acadia, and California were Mongol colonies?”

I couldn’t help but be greatly surprised by this shocking information.

What’s more, the area known as Alaska in modern times was called Yeke North Ulus, British Columbia was Yeke West Ulus, Acadia was Yeke East Ulus, and California was Yeke American Ulus.

These four regions were reportedly pioneered in the name of the 32nd Great Khan, Tolui Khan.

Because of this, America, unlike in original history, couldn’t exert any influence on the Pacific.

Even its mother country, England, couldn’t properly support the eastern frontier settlements due to harassment from French pirates of the French Gurun.

New York, without support, was constantly checked by Mongol colonies including Acadia.

As a result, America couldn’t develop properly until the Mongols lost control of their colonies after the Mongol-Soviet War in the 19th century.

“The 32nd Khagan… that means he’s a distant descendant of Temujin.”

According to the succession law I created, the Ulus strictly followed the principle of primogeniture.

Additionally, those not of the Golden Clan couldn’t inherit the throne, meaning Tolui Khan was indeed a distant descendant of Temujin.

Anyway, to learn more about Tolui Khan, I clicked the link to his entry.

But the server must have been made of potatoes because all I got was a white screen.

“What’s this? The internet connection is bad.”

Curious, I checked the entry for Tolui Khan’s father, Mongke Khan.

Strangely, the Mongke Khan entry appeared normally on the screen.

    “What’s going on?”

I kept refreshing, going back and forth, but the content about Tolui Khan wouldn’t appear.

After continuing this for a while, a message popped up.

-A new editor is currently modifying this entry.

“Can’t be helped. I’ll just look at my descendant Mongke Khan instead.”

I wanted to see the content about Tolui Khan but couldn’t.

So instead, I started reading about Mongke Khan.

After reading for a while, I couldn’t help but laugh in disbelief.

    “Is this really my descendant?”

The 31st Khan, Mongke Khan, was beyond a bad ruler—he could rightfully be called a tyrant.

It was written that he would release people into hunting grounds and hunt them.

At this time, Mongolia had developed its own arquebuses, an early form of small firearms.

Called “fire guns” in Mongolian, Mongke Khan enjoyed hunting humans under the pretext of practicing with these weapons.

“He even killed his own son?”

    My hands trembled with disbelief.

Mongke Khan had two sons and one daughter, but his eldest tried to stop his father’s madness and received a large scar on his face.

The scar festered and eventually led to his death.

Because of this, Tolui, who had no connection to the throne, became crown prince and took his dead brother’s place.

After taking his brother’s place, Tolui lived in constant suffering.

Mongke continuously subjected Tolui to violence, verbal abuse, and torment under the pretext of abdication, physically and mentally tormenting him.

Because of this, Tolui reportedly nearly died several times.

“Once he was hit with a hunting whip and barely survived after being unconscious for days…”

Though my descendant, Mongke was an utterly unacceptable human being.

Just reading about him made me want to kill him immediately.

If I, a third party, felt this way, it was remarkable that Tolui grew up righteous despite such a harsh life.

“After Mongke’s death, Tolui ascended to the throne, abolished existing evil practices, and looked after his people. His actions and speech were similar to the first Great Khan, Yesugei, and many called Tolui Khan a sage ruler.”

Like a lotus blooming from mud, Tolui wasn’t influenced by the bad aspects of his childhood.

Upon ascending to the highest position, he not only implemented policies to care for his people but also revised the existing language to make it easier for all people to use.

“Wait… so this Hangul-like script was created by Tolui Khan?”

I wondered if Tolui Khan might also be a returner.

It would be impossible to create Hangul otherwise.

Of course, when I created the Mongolian language, I based it on Hangul, so there could be some influence.

But the language Tolui created was one that couldn’t possibly be made without knowing the foundation of Hangul’s creation.

“And considering he even created overseas colonies…”

Mongol people weren’t accustomed to the sea.

Even if I had altered history to strengthen the Mongol Pirates, this was limited to coastal areas, not long-distance voyages.

While not completely impossible, considering the situation at that time, there was no reason for Mongolia to engage in ocean voyages.

After I completely devastated the Southern Song region, Mongolia followed my dying wish and thoroughly neglected southern China.

This neglected land was only developed after Mongolia lost its hegemony over Asia due to the European Union’s revival and Soviet invasion in the 19th century.

Due to this late development, southern China today was very underdeveloped, like cities near the Amazon in Brazil.

You might wonder why I’m suddenly talking about southern China while explaining ocean voyages.

The reason I explained southern China first is that from Mongolia’s perspective, southern China was so underdeveloped that there were insufficient bases for long-distance voyages.

Even with insufficient bases for long-distance voyages, development could solve the issue.

However, exchanges with the Ulus, Goryeo, and neighboring countries could be done via the Silk Road, so it wasn’t a major problem.

And for the Indochina region, even without direct travel from the Ulus, coastal trade was possible through Goryeo.

In other words, the wealthy Ulus had no reason to conquer lands across the sea with uncertain prospects.

“But it would be different for someone from the future.”

Someone from the future would know that across the Pacific lay a land flowing with milk and honey.

So they would have had a firm goal to invest in long-distance voyages and cross the sea to develop colonies.

Without the belief that something existed, and that it guaranteed definite benefits, there would be no reason to cross the Pacific.

For this reason, I could intuitively sense that my descendant Tolui was someone from the future.

“I came from the future too, so it’s possible there could be another person from the future.”

    I was experienced.

Therefore, I could fully understand the possibility that there might be one more person like me.

Thinking this way, I was curious about what kind of person Tolui Khan was.

So I tried to click the link leading to information about Tolui Khan again.

    At that moment.

-Last chance! Confirmed gacha for swimsuit Yesugei!

    “…”

    Another advertisement popped up.

At this, I couldn’t hold back anymore and had to click it.

“I need to see with my own eyes exactly what they’re doing to Yesugei!”

    Yes.

Before I possessed Yesugei’s body, I played many games like this.

Games where outstanding historical figures appeared and had all-star battles.

Of course, these games featured many altered historical figures.

But my animal instinct told me this pop-up ad was for that kind of game.

    Swimsuit Yesugei?

I was dying of curiosity to see how they had shamelessly portrayed me.

“Wait, let me take a deep breath first.”

    Phew.

    Alright. I’m clicking it.

So I clicked the pop-up ad.

A flashy screen appeared along with the game title.

    -World Domination Hundred Flowers Blooming.

Raise your warriors and conquer the world!

    The name was fine.

But the two scantily clad(?) people in the background were the problem.

Tanned skin with finely defined abs.

A yellow-haired woman with large breasts held a barbell in one hand and the flag of Yeke Mongol Ulus in the other.

This sister with a clearly fitness-focused style was named… none other than…

“Munglig…? This is supposed to be Munglig?”

How could that muscle-obsessed man become this busty woman?

I couldn’t help but laugh in disbelief.

If Munglig knew about this, he would surely burst out of his coffin.

-The brave and peerless leader of the Kheshig! Munglig! Inflict confirmed light attribute area damage on enemies with her special move, Iron March!

    “Oh my… Munglig…”

I shook my head and sighed.

While still in great shock, another female character caught my eye.

Black long hair with an intellectual image.

And a slender figure contrasting with Munglig.

    This was fine so far.

But her outfit was extremely strange.

She wore Mongolian official attire with a Song Dynasty official hat, and held a Goryeo-style folding fan.

    Additionally, she wore black tights.

In short, it was a bizarre costume mixing Mongolian, Song Dynasty, Goryeo, and Western cultures.

-Sharp strategies shining from eyes cold as snow! Elunka! Ultimate move! Inflict confirmed fire attribute single damage on enemies with Fierce Fire Formation!

    “Yes… I expected this.”

If there’s Munglig, Elunka should be there too.

    I nodded while sighing.

While sighing at the corruption(?) of these two people, the screen suddenly changed.

A ponytailed girl stood against the background of a blue sea.

She was wearing a bikini and blushing as if embarrassed.

-Wh-what are you staring at? It’s… it’s disrespectful to stare at me!

    “No. This can’t be…”

I desperately hoped it wasn’t true.

But with the following description, I couldn’t help but close my eyes tightly.

-The Red Warrior who has arrived at the sea for the first time in his life!

He tries to show dignity as everyone’s ruler as usual, but ends up intoxicated by the scenery of the unfamiliar sea and the joyful atmosphere.

    “What do you mean intoxicated!”

    I was utterly devastated.
