Ch.305[Chapter 305] First Clan War

    “…Huh.”

Sir Dominic came to his senses in the middle of the battlefield.

It wasn’t because he had been attacked to the point of near death, or because he was suffering from some status ailment.

It was because he had surrendered himself to instinct, overwhelmed by sheer happiness.

As soon as Sir Dominic regained his senses, he raised his sword and shield while scanning his surroundings.

“It’s already over. They’re all dead or have fled.”

Sir Dominic turned his body toward the voice.

There lay Pandemonium, sprawled out on the ground as if exhausted.

Sir Dominic sheepishly put away his sword and shield at Pandemonium’s words.

“Somehow I just snapped back to my senses.”

Sir Dominic said with a hint of humor in his voice.

    “Where is Sir Dominica?”

    “Over there.”

Pandemonium painfully raised an arm to point in a direction.

There was Sir Dominica, repeatedly loading and firing her gun toward a window.

    “Hee, heek…”

And from beyond that window came someone’s pitiful voice.

    “Kyaak!”

Each time a shot was fired, a neurotic scream could be heard from the other side.

Sir Dominic slowly approached Sir Dominica and spoke to her.

If Pandemonium’s words were true, there was no need to continue being so combative.

    “The battle is already over.”

    “Huh?”

Sir Dominica looked at Sir Dominic with a bright smile.

Sir Dominic noticed that while her mouth was smiling, her eyes were completely vacant.

“Stop now. The opponent has completely lost the will to fight.”

“Just one. Let me fire just one more shot. Okay?”

    Sir Dominic sighed.

Sir Dominica wasn’t in her right mind.

She had entered a trigger-happy state.

Sir Dominica kept pulling the trigger, but there was no way the musket would fire again without being reloaded after the previous shot.

Sir Dominic, realizing he couldn’t possibly stop her like this, urgently shouted to whoever was beyond the window frame.

    “Surrender immediately! Right now!”

Sir Dominic urged surrender from whoever was beyond the window frame.

This wasn’t just a ceremonial statement.

It was advice given for the sake of the mental health of whoever was on the other side.

He thought that since Sir Dominica was a knight, she wouldn’t attack someone who had surrendered.

    “No, don’t do thiiiis…”

    “Forget your excuses and surrender!”

Whoever was beyond the window frame hesitated, trailing off, seemingly unable to surrender due to pride.

However, such pride immediately crumbled when Sir Dominica resumed firing.

    “Found it!”

Sir Dominica discovered a bullet rolling nearby and immediately loaded it into her musket.

She aimed roughly and fired, and this time the bullet grazed the window frame as it passed.

The piercing sound of the bullet tearing through the air and ripping into the window frame echoed coldly.

    “Hee, heek!”

The person beyond the window frame lost their last will to resist at that gunshot and collapsed, beginning to cry.

Then they started shouting their surrender continuously.

“I surrender! I surrendeeeer! I’ll surrender! Please stop shooting!”

Sir Dominic immediately looked at Sir Dominica upon hearing the surrender declaration.

Sir Dominica was frozen in the position of loading a bullet into her gun, but now she was glaring beyond the window frame with cold eyes and an expressionless face.

    “…No fun.”

Sir Dominica sighed, then put the gun in its holster and began organizing her bullets.

As Sir Dominic had expected, Sir Dominica stopped attacking the one who had surrendered because she was a knight.

Then came the sound of someone beyond the window frame collapsing weakly.

Several members of the Tanker Union clan climbed through the window to check on the condition of whoever was there.

That someone was apparently a person from Chingwon, as they were brought into the clan building in restraints. Judging by the fox ears and nine tails, it seemed to be the woman who had just declared war on the Tanker Union.

However, her elegant and dignified appearance from before was nowhere to be seen; only a haggard woman with disheveled hair and anxious pupils remained.

As the woman was being escorted away, Sir Dominica sighed deeply and slumped down on the stairs.

She lowered her head for a moment, then soon raised it again, inhaling as if waking from sleep.

    “…Huh?”

Sir Dominic felt a strange sense of déjà vu at the sight.

In fact, it was exactly the same situation he had experienced.

Sir Dominic approached Sir Dominica, who had jumped up and was looking around with her shield raised, and spoke to her.

“The battle is over. We are victorious.”

    “Ah.”

Sir Dominica responded to Sir Dominic’s words with an awkward smile and offered a slight joke.

“Somehow I just came to my senses.”

As soon as he heard those words, Sir Dominic looked at Pandemonium.

Pandemonium found the whole situation amusing and was trying hard not to laugh while lying down with her head turned.

Sir Dominic’s head began to throb at the sight of Pandemonium.

It meant that he, too, had caused a commotion just like Sir Dominica.

Sir Dominic wondered exactly what he had done, but since it seemed likely to become a dark history, he decided to quietly bury the memory.

“Ah, Sir Dominic. You’ve come to your senses.”

Sir Dominic suddenly turned his head toward the voice.

There stood Senator Muscleman, his upper body exposed and covered in blood like tattoos.

“I saw your performance just now. It was… like a beast.”

Sir Dominic somehow felt as if those words translated to “fought like an animal.”

“I’m sorry that such a tragedy occurred on such a joyous day.”

Senator Muscleman offered his sincere condolences to Sir Dominic.

    “By the way…”

    Senator Muscleman looked around.

Sir Dominic also looked around, following Senator Muscleman’s gaze.

Currently, the first-floor lobby of the Tanker Union office was in shambles.

Broken windows everywhere, furniture strewn about, and shell casings, sandbags, and tankers.

Those who still had some strength left were taking brooms and dustpans from the supply closet to sweep the floor, while those with a bit more energy were putting the furniture back in place.

    Yes.

You might have noticed from the fact that I said tankers rather than tankers rolling around randomly, but except for Pandemonium, the rest were cleaning up the lobby.

Surprisingly, the furniture hadn’t suffered a single scratch despite the attack. Noticing Sir Dominic’s puzzlement, Senator Muscleman explained:

“Inside the clan house, ally buffs are applied. So right now, these pieces of furniture have some of the world’s best defensive buffs.”

    “Ah.”

Sir Dominic nodded as if understanding Senator Muscleman’s words.

    “By the way…”

Sir Dominic addressed Senator Muscleman while looking at the lobby that had instantly returned to its original state.

“What do you plan to do now?”

    “What do you mean?”

Senator Muscleman asked Sir Dominic for his exact thoughts.

“The opponent launched a surprise attack. I’m curious about your next move.”

“I see. Well, this is your first clan war, Sir Dominic, so it’s natural to be curious.”

    This time Senator Muscleman nodded.

Senator Muscleman pondered for a moment how to explain to Sir Dominic, then finally spoke.

“We have never directly attacked an opponent.”

    “…?”

Sir Dominic tilted his head at Senator Muscleman’s words.

If that was the case, how on earth did clan wars work?

As if reading Sir Dominic’s thoughts, Senator Muscleman continued:

“Instead, we attack our opponents indirectly. Yes, it will be the same this time too.”

Sir Dominic became even more confused by Senator Muscleman’s words.

He couldn’t understand at all what he was talking about.

“Simply put, we send dispatches to other clans to coordinate joint attacks.”

Seeing that Sir Dominic didn’t properly understand his words, Senator Muscleman explained more simply with an embarrassed expression.

“GachaLand boasts quite a long history, so even the most moderate clan has at least one or two enemies.”

Sir Dominic finally grasped Senator Muscleman’s meaning.

“So, while tankers alone could win, it would take too much time, so you form alliances with other clans to balance the ratio of tankers, dealers, and supporters?”

    “Exactly.”

Senator Muscleman applauded as if impressed that Sir Dominic understood.

    “But I have another question.”

Sir Dominic had solved one mystery, but another one immediately followed.

“How do you find clans that have bad relationships with such clans? It can’t be easy to memorize them all.”

    “Ah, about that—”

Senator Muscleman opened his mouth to answer Sir Dominic’s question.

At that moment, one of the union members approached and spoke to Senator Muscleman.

    “The interrogation results are in.”

“Ah, I’m sorry, Sir Dominic. Just a moment…”

Senator Muscleman asked for Sir Dominic’s understanding and listened to the interrogation results first.

“According to the interrogation of the Chingwon clan member, she is one of Chingwon’s executives named Chao Ling, and she’s a magic dealer.”

“What about clans that have bad relationships with Chingwon? Did you find that out?”

“According to her, they have a bad relationship with the Eastern Alliance, but this needs cross-verification.”

“Right. Send someone to the Eastern Alliance immediately to verify the truth. And if it’s confirmed, propose an alliance on the spot.”

    “Yes! Understood.”

The Tanker Union clan member disappeared from the spot at Senator Muscleman’s words.

He had probably gone to send someone to the Eastern Alliance.

Senator Muscleman looked at Sir Dominic and clapped his hands as if things had worked out well, then said:

“This is how we deal with our enemies.”

Sir Dominic looked at Senator Muscleman.

Senator Muscleman was smiling just as brightly as Sir Dominic.
