Of course, even if Kraken’s surprise teleport-strategic missile attack was no longer possible…

“Above, below, front, back, left, right—enemies everywhere, so no need to aim.”

    “All gun batteries, commence attack!”

Even without that, I had various excellent options at my disposal.

    For example…

Since the large and beautiful bamboo spears…no, utility poles…no, strategic missiles themselves still remained.

When the enemy launched their all-out offensive, we responded by unleashing a massive barrage of missiles.

Hresvelgr immediately joined in, firing the universe’s best…well, not the best, but certainly good bamboo spear strategic missiles, giving the enemy quite the surprise show.

    “They’re coming in waves~♡”

“Pashtra, just focus on firing in ways that will sink their main ships.”

“My, does that mean I can do whatever I want with the rest?♡”

“Yes, do whatever you want with the rest…ah, of course I mean regarding combat.”

“You shut me down so sharply♡ Understood♡”

After I naturally cut off the lewd nun’s attempt to request hot, sticky, and intimate bedtime activities with me.

Pouting and grumbling at my response, the lewd nun seemed to want to relieve her stress.

She immediately fired her maximum output beam cannon, turning an enemy heavy cruiser charging toward our fortress into something resembling a crushed tin can.

Of course, besides that, there was something else that could be considered most important in fleet battles.

    And that would be…

    “Haaaaaah!”

    “So this is the battlefield!”

“Time to earn our pay, you vermin!”

“Commander, did you perhaps call in mercenary groups?”

“…I spent 1.5 million minerals and 400,000 rare resources to call them immediately.”

    “Ah.”

That’s right—about 200 mercenary groups hired by spending some of the resources I had been carefully saving to attack the Tannhäuser Gate Fortress.

Though it would have been nice if they included more large ships…

Nothing in this world goes according to plan.

Unfortunately, this mercenary spam had very few large ships, so most of the vessels were either exploding left and right shortly after deployment.

Or they were desperately clinging to areas near the base, trying to maintain their cowardly existence by mixing in with our fleet and the “guard fleets.”

But despite the hasty addition of 200 mercenary groups, the battle situation wasn’t progressing very favorably.

Remember when I mentioned that my forces during the conquest of “Tunguska,” when both Rattenwater and Magellan invaded simultaneously, were worth roughly 320,000 to 350,000 points?

The problem was that these 50-some clans pushing against me now had fleets worth over 400,000 points—more than what I had then.

In addition to employing all the various methods mentioned above, I hurriedly launched all fighter craft from the fortress hangars and my carriers.

I also used the base’s “Fleet Long-Range Teleport System” to teleport mercenary groups behind the enemy fleet, attempting a kind of “double encirclement.”

I put effort upon effoooooort into employing every possible measure at my disposal to counter those bastards.

But despite mobilizing all of the fortress’s defense systems…

That is, gun batteries and missile launchers…

Within just 12 hours after the enemy’s all-out offensive began, most of the guard fleet and mercenary groups—over 60,000 ships combined—were blown to pieces and turned into space dust.

However, their sacrifices were not in vain.

Just as the loss rate of the mercenary small ships was about to exceed 90%…

“Commander! All of the fortress’s main combat fleets have launched!”

    “Finally, for crying out loud.”

Unlike when I was conducting my siege and couldn’t even fight them.

This time, since my fleet had deliberately protected the gates thoroughly.

The 50 combat fleets that successfully emerged smoothly managed to make the battle—which had been flowing quite unfavorably—balanced once again.

    ==========

    At the same time.

The Walpurgis Alliance Clans were showing exasperated reactions to Icarus’s fleet, which kept producing more ships no matter how many they destroyed.

    <Mint Choco Meeting Room>

-[What the hell, we destroy the guard fleet and 200 mercenary groups appear]

-[We smash the mercenary groups, and now combat fleets show up, wtf?]

    -[LOLOLOLOLOLOL this is seriously ridiculous]

    -[Answer! Matryoshka!]

-[Doesn’t Avalon not have fortress main guns? Then why do Dreadnought-class main gun shots keep coming at us?]

-[There’s Pashtra, if you develop her well she can unleash that kind of firepower alone]

    -[Damn, why don’t I have an SSS-grade?]

-[Why do strategic missiles keep coming?]

-[Need to take down Hresvelgr, otherwise they’ll keep flying]

-[We destroyed all the forward bases and resource fleets, how is this still happening?]

    -[This is insane]

    —————————————-

Of course, they weren’t without superhumans and special ships either.

    -Paaaaang!!

    -Crackle…

    —————————————-

    <Mint Choco Meeting Room>

    -[Kyaaaaa!]

-[Our clan leader is doing great!]

    -[Is that the shield ship?]

-[Fleet shield ship, yes. It’s slightly weaker than the base barrier but sufficient for tanking]

    —————————————-

There was the “Nibelung-class Shield Generator Ship” that easily blocked Pashtra’s concentrated particle beam with its powerful shield.

The “Jebodang-class Monster Assault Ship” with frontal armor thicker than a battleship’s, ignoring attacks directed at it and ramming forward.

    -Kwaaaang!!

    —————————————-

    <Mint Choco Meeting Room>

    -[A glorious sight]

-[Wow, did you see half of that cruiser’s hull just melt?]

    -[Which clan is that?]

-[That’s a liquid armor, provide proper cover]

-[Isn’t that a battleship? It shouldn’t die from stray shots]

-[That’s an annihilation ship with all points in firepower. It’s battleship-sized but has armor worse than a destroyer]

    -[Seriously?]

    —————————————-

The “Megalodon-class Annihilation Ship,” which could deliver powerful enough bombardment to cause significant damage to the fortress’s outer armor plating.

But as a trade-off, its own armor was severely compromised, requiring “meat shield” escort vessels surrounding it.

These various special ships that Icarus didn’t have were gradually putting pressure on his forces defending the Avalon Fortress.

However, the combat fleet that emerged—500 battleships, 2,500 heavy cruisers, and 25,000 destroyers—was considerably more powerful than expected.

Combined with the remaining mercenary groups and surviving guard fleet.

Plus Icarus’s main force and the newly updated “base mercenary groups.”

And finally, what appeared to be “faction delegations” slinking out from inside the fortress.

Despite having the advantage in military power, the players couldn’t help but think, “So this is why the 3rd-ranked player conquered the base alone.”

Of course, they had watched Icarus’s Avalon siege too…

But there was bound to be a profound difference in pressure between roughly watching videos or reading about it, and experiencing it firsthand.

Some tactics in particular left them completely dumbfounded.

    —————————————-

    <Mint Choco Meeting Room>

-[Wtf why are the Krakens hiding inside the gates?]

-[Their frontal armor is so damn sturdy it won’t break, so we need to flank them, but wtf]

    -[LOLOLOLOLOL that’s smart]

-[They’re like dogs sticking just their heads out of a hole]

    —————————————-

Icarus had placed two Krakens, one in each open fortress spaceport gate.

With just their heads poking out, they fired aircraft, missiles, and bio-cannons from inside, acting as biological bunkers.

From the Walpurgis Alliance Clans’ perspective, this was absolutely infuriating.
