Ch. 3 Priest Supreme
by AfuhfuihgsChapter 3 – Priest Supreme
The Warrior class was the most straightforward and reliable choice for beginner players. It was also the most common, to the point where warriors were as plentiful as weeds.
The two-party members Isolin brought were also warriors.
Ideally, I would have preferred to find someone with a different class, but that was impossible. In the starting village, most players who had classes other than warriors were already in fixed parties.
“We’ll do our best!”
“Please take care of us!”
The two warriors were very polite. They didn’t hesitate to bow their heads to a small girl. It was a commendable attitude.
Warrior Zeblin LV.6
Warrior Palm Tree LV.5 (TL: Good name actually :3)
Mage Isolin LV.4
Priest Supreme LV.3
A party consisting of two warriors, one mage, and one priest looked solid just by its composition. For someone like me, who had never been in a proper hunting party before, this was reassuring. I could only imagine how confident higher-level warriors must feel.
Indeed, the two warriors were beaming with smiles.
“Ahem. Let’s do a quick briefing before we head out.”
The shortest party leader, Isolin, cleared her throat and gathered everyone’s attention. She stood on a small box to elevate herself, though she was still shorter than the warriors.
Her briefing was concise and clear.
We would hunt along the river behind the village but avoid venturing into the wolf territory.
After finishing the briefing, Isolin crossed her arms and scanned the party members, as if inviting any objections.
At that moment warrior Zeblin raised his hand.
Isolin nodded and granted him permission to speak.
“Aren’t we going to hunt wolves?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“They’re too dangerous. How can we hunt wolves with a hastily assembled party?”
“But if the party’s average level is around 5, wolves shouldn’t be too difficult…”
“I’m the party leader. If you’re unhappy, you’re free to leave.”
“N-no, I’m not unhappy…”
After quickly silencing the complaint, Isolin led the party to the hunting grounds with her short strides. The hunting grounds were just a wide field behind the village.
The monsters that appeared near the village were level 2 rabbits and level 3 deer.
Rabbits were practically impossible to hunt. They were non-aggressive and would quickly flee if approached. Only a handful of users in the starting village could hunt rabbits.
Deer, on the other hand, were relatively easy to hunt. They were also non-aggressive but didn’t run away.
Before the hunt began, we were given a final preparation period. I used this time to test out the [Old Mace], a priest-exclusive weapon I received after my class change.
~Whoosh!
The solid metal weapon cut through the air with a heavy sound. It felt like I could defend myself against monsters if they broke through the warriors’ defenses.
[Old Mace]
- Level Requirement: 2
- Equip Restriction: Cleric, Warrior
- Physical Attack +4
- Healing Power +3
A very old mace.
Though rusted in places, its performance and destructive power remain intact.
※When equipped by a cleric-class job, physical attack increases proportionally to the user’s spirit stat.
Despite being unable to wield the basic iron sword properly, I could now swing the heavier mace with ease, thanks to the special options attached to mace-type weapons.
This was the game’s way of accommodating players.
Despite its hyper-realism, this world still retained many game-like elements.
“Hey, Priest… take this.”
“Huh?”
While I was swinging my mace around, the two warriors approached and handed me blue potions. They were [Low-Grade Mana Potions], stored in water bottle-sized glass containers.
Why were they giving me something that cost 10 gold each?
When I looked at them with a puzzled expression, they awkwardly smiled and explained.
“Well, you use mana when you heal, right? If you run out, please drink these and keep healing us…”
“Gasp…”
They gave me six mana potions in total. I contained them into my inventory, which was now overflowing with potions.
The hunt officially began when the two warriors drew their weapons. With wielding gleaming iron swords, they approached the nearest deer under Isolin’s orders.
[LV.3]
[Deer]
The deer was peacefully grazing in the field. The sound of grass being chewed echoed softly.
“Hyah!”
Zeblin was the first to attack. With a loud shout, his sword slashed across the deer’s side.
-Squelch!
Though non-aggressive, the deer wasn’t defenseless. As blood began to pour from its wound, it lowered its head and charged at Zeblin with his antlers.
-Thud!
“Ugh!”
Palm Tree* quickly stepped in to fill Zeblin empty space. Like a true warrior, he swung his sword, pressuring the deer until it began to retreat.
While the two warriors fought with intense focus, I had little to do.
No one needed healing yet, and I had no range attacks.
The only skill I could use was [Holy Armor] which reduce damage take.
[Holy Armor]
Reduce party member damage received by 15 %
Duration: 1 minute
Using the skill was simple. I just had to visualize the skill’s name and perform the designated motion.
This was another example of the game’s leniency.
“[Holy Armor]”
As I waved my left hand as if scattering something, a brilliant light flew toward to two warriors engaged in combat with the deer.
I stared at my hand in awe. I had just cast a spell filled with fantastical elements. It was an indescribable feeling that made my heart race.
Isolin also used a skill. With a powerful shout of “[Fire Ball!]” a head-sized fireball shot from the tip of her staff.
-Boom!
-Thud…
The deer, already battered by the warriors, collapsed after being hit by the fireball.
The hunt proceeded smoothly. Occasionally, I used [Heal] to restore the warriors’ health when it dropped below half and refreshed [Holy Armor] when its duration ran out.
That was all I had to do.
“Wow, having a priest is amazing.”
“My stamina isn’t draining. We can hunt non-stop!”
The warriors grew more enthusiastic as the hunt progressed. By the time two hours had passed, we had hunted over 100 deer.
As time went on, our hunting speed increased. Knowing they had a reliable priest backing them up, the warriors became more aggressive, disregarding their own safety.
They swung their swords relentlessly, whittling down the deer’s health. How could we not be fast?
I had to continuously pour healing spells on the warriors as their health drained rapidly.
When my mana ran out, I drank potions from my inventory. The potions I received as gifts were easy to use.
One, two, three.
As I chugged the water bottle-sized potions, I realized a serious problem.
“Ugh…”
The hunt was so fast-paced, and the warriors’ fighting was so thrilling that I hadn’t noticed. Every time I drank a potion, my stomach was swelling.
“I’m so full…”
My stomach was uncomfortably bloated. I put down the potion I was drinking and wiped my mouth.
My belly, swollen as if I were pregnant, gurgled every time I pressed it with my fingers.
“P-priest! Heal us!”
“There are too many deer!”
Following the warriors’ screams, I saw them surrounded by five deer, being pummeled mercilessly. A deer’s powerful kick struck one warrior’s face, leaving a dark bruise under his eye.
I checked my mana. I didn’t have enough mana to cast a spell I had only drunk half a potion earlier.
“Supreme. Where’s the heal?”
Isolin, the shortest person in party, asked. She was creating a massive fireball while glaring at me with twitching eyebrows.
“I-I…”
I couldn’t even give a proper answer. As I grimaced and covered my mouth, Isolin’s expression twisted in frustration.
“What are you doing? They’re going to die!”
I knew that. But what could I do when my stomach was so full? With a pained expression, I pulled out another potion and forced it down.
I didn’t want to drink it, but I had to. Having experience of deer kick firsthand, I knew exactly how much pain the warriors were in.
“Hic… ugh…”
Half of it spilled, and half went down my throat. But at least I had enough mana to cast a spell.
I aimed my skill at the battered warriors.
“[Heal!]”
-Whoosh—
As the brilliant green light spread, the bruises on the warriors’ bodies quickly faded. The healed warriors jumped up and stabbed the deer that had been beating them.
Squelch!
One new thing I learned: a small bodies can’t digest many potion.
After the hunt ended, I was carried to a tree by Isolin. The party couldn’t continue hunting until my stomach deflated.
“Can I touch your belly?”
Isolin asked. I nodded.
–Poke—
“Bulgh…”
