Ch.2Chapter 2 – Reincarnated into a Game World (2)
by fnovelpia
After Epitrina left, I couldn’t leave this place for a while.
It was because I still didn’t know exactly how my ability worked.
She called herself the goddess who governed this world.
Governing this world sounds like she’s the “main deity” of this world.
In other words, this ability I possess was bestowed upon me by the main deity of this world.
‘But why on earth did Epitrina give me this kind of ability?’
Epitrina told me that the ability she gave me was the power of repair, capable of fixing everything.
This was also something I instinctively realized when she handed me the power.
‘Is there something I can test it on?’
I got up from my spot. Sitting still wasn’t going to make a tool to test my ability suddenly fall from the sky.
After standing up, I decided to look around.
As I slowly surveyed my surroundings, I was able to gather more information than I had expected.
First, the structure that seemed to be made of stacked bricks appeared to be not a wall but some kind of fence.
And the nearby pillars, being several times thicker than those in ordinary houses, seemed designed to support a large, heavy roof like those of temples or city halls.
‘Could this place have been used as a temple?’
I didn’t have enough information yet to make a hasty judgment.
To gather more information, I carefully explored the surroundings.
When I went outside this collapsed building, I could see lights twinkling in the distance.
I guessed there might be a village there.
But I had nothing on me, and it would take at least two or three hours to walk to where the village appeared to be.
Therefore, before leaving this place to find the village, there was only one thing I needed to do first.
‘I need to find something to protect myself around here.’
Even if this was a world inside a game, for me who had to live here, this was reality.
Moreover, since Eracro was a game where beautiful female characters fought against monsters, rebels, demon tribes, and devils, there were many dangerous things all over the world.
‘I wish there was something useful I could find.’
I began searching around this ruin, presumed to be a temple, looking for any tools I could use.
“Oh, there’s a hammer?”
The first thing I discovered was a heavily rusted hammer.
Fortunately, the handle connected to the hammerhead was just dried out, not rotten.
I picked up the hammer from the ground.
Then, I started to realize how to use my repair ability through this hammer.
The method of using my repair ability was very simple.
Look at the object you want to fix, think in your mind that you want to fix it, and strike the object three times with the tool in your hand.
And what came to mind was the image of a blacksmith striking a piece of hot iron with a hammer at a forge.
I searched the building further to find something I could use this ability on.
Near where I found the hammer, I discovered a sack containing something.
‘What’s inside?’
I carefully opened the sack and found various items inside.
A money pouch containing about fifteen silver coins.
A dagger that seemed to have been carried for self-defense, but its blade was broken and fallen off.
A small frying pan and pot with lid that looked like they were carried for cooking.
And finally, a heavily rusted sword about the length of an adult male’s arm in an old scabbard.
Among them, what caught my eye first was the heavily rusted sword in the old scabbard.
If you attacked someone with this sword, they might die not from bleeding but from tetanus.
That’s how old the sword was.
I picked up the sword with my left hand out of curiosity, and at that moment, an inexplicable desire began to burn from within my chest.
Fix the sword.
Hold the sword and strike it with the hammer.
Grasp the sword.
Strike with the hammer.
I raised the hammer in my right hand high into the air, following what something inside my chest was telling me to do.
Then, I brought the hammer down toward the old sword in my left hand.
—Clang! Clang! Clang!
With a crisp sound, I struck the blade forcefully three times, and something amazing happened.
When I struck the old sword in my left hand with the hammer three times, a soft glow began to envelop the sword.
‘What? What’s happening?’
The soft glow that wrapped around the rusted sword soon disappeared, and the rusted, old sword no longer existed.
In my left hand was a sword without a single blemish, emitting a soft luster as if it had just been purchased from a blacksmith.
The reddish-brown rusted blade that seemed like it would break if swung, let alone cut someone, was gone.
In its place was a blade boasting such sharpness that it seemed like it would draw blood with just the slightest touch to skin.
Even the handle of the sword and the guard above it had changed to new ones.
Even the round decoration at the end of the handle that had fallen off had returned as if it had never been gone, now in pristine condition.
Seeing this, I naturally realized the value of this ability I possessed.
‘This could make me a fortune if I do it right.’
Just by striking a rusted sword three times with a hammer, a sword that seemed not even worth scrap metal had transformed into one that could fetch a proper price at an auction.
Then suddenly, I became curious.
Could I also make the money in that pouch new?
So I took out the money from the pouch and struck it three times with the hammer.
While strongly thinking in my mind that I wanted to fix this money.
“Oh, ohh!”
Then the silver coins that had lost their luster changed to a state so shiny they reflected the moonlight.
They were so shiny they could almost be used as mirrors.
I experimented on the other items in the pouch as well.
When I struck the dagger with the broken blade three times with the hammer, it changed into a new, intact dagger as if it had never been damaged.
The rusted frying pan and iron pot also transformed into new items after being struck three times with the hammer.
With this ability, it seemed like I wouldn’t starve to death in this world, at least.
At that moment, a thought fleetingly crossed my mind.
‘If it’s near Glesius Academy, wouldn’t it be good to set up a repair shop?’
It was about Glesius Academy, the most important stage in Erasto Chronicle.
In Erasto Chronicle, characters were called heroines, and you had to nurture them to clear the story.
Therefore, Glesius Academy was both a space where heroines could be nurtured and the starting point of the main story of Erasto Chronicle.
In other words, if I set up a repair shop near Glesius Academy, I could welcome the heroines I had only seen in illustrations as my customers.
I could see with my own eyes the heroines who had only appeared in the game, and there was a possibility of forming various relationships while conversing with them.
‘Come to think of it, that doesn’t sound bad.’
Additionally, if I went to Glesius Academy, I might be able to meet the heroine I cherished the most in Erasto Chronicle.
There were so many characters in Erasto Chronicle, and even the lowest 2-star characters had detailed background settings and stories.
That’s why every user had one favorite heroine they cherished the most.
Needless to say, the heroine you prefer for advancing the story and the heroine you cherish because of their background setting or illustration are separate matters.
Of course, the heroine for advancing the story and the heroine whose background setting and illustration you like could be the same.
I also had my favorite heroine in Erasto Chronicle, and that was ‘Mina,’ a heroine with the background setting of an academy student from the countryside.
She was the first 3-star heroine given to players, and was nicknamed ‘Goddess Mina’ by free-to-play players.
This was because, although Mina was a 3-star heroine, she could be used effectively in the early stages of the story when heroine development was still incomplete.
Even I, as a free-to-play player, was able to get through the early to mid-story smoothly thanks to Mina.
That’s why one of the pieces of advice most players gave to newbies was ‘invest in Mina early on.’
‘I want to go to Glesius Academy and see Mina in person.’
My favorite heroine, Mina. I don’t know if she exists in this world.
Perhaps she’s a person who only appears in the game and doesn’t exist in the real world.
So I will determine with my own eyes whether my favorite heroine exists or not.
Of course, to see Mina, I had to go to Glesius Academy.
‘Whatever. I’ll just go. Let’s go! To Glesius Academy!’
