    Ch.29Ep.29: The Obtuse Father

    # Blind Idiot God, or the Dull Darkness.

The origin of the Outer Gods’ power and equivalent to Chaos in the Olympian hierarchy.

Even Yog-Sothoth, who could be called the leader of the Outer Gods, cannot treat him carelessly.

His mere presence was enough to prevent civil war among the Outer Gods.

One who exists in a realm of absolute power that makes the word “transcendence” seem inadequate.

    ‘This makes no sense…’

    What was most shocking now.

It wasn’t absorbing Cthuga, nor was it that the Sword of Judgment was still maintained.

It was forming a contract with the leader of the forces he despised.

    “Then… could it be…”

Radios pulled out the Divine Fragment: Replication from his subspace with trembling hands.

He dropped it as soon as he felt its magical energy.

“When you said you were with me before my new life…!”

    He had replicated Astrape.

Since then, the Blind Idiot God had been with him!

    Honestly, confusion outweighed anger.

Why would the Blind Idiot God help Radios?

Radios was a human who aimed to destroy the Outer Gods.

He could even be considered an agent of Olympus, which opposed the Outer Gods.

What purpose did the god have in approaching him?

And why specifically choose him as an apostle?

Radios wanted to shout at the fragment right then and there.

    But he held back.

There were too many issues that needed addressing.

Contemplating whether to release the Sword of Judgment, he decided against it for now and approached Elysse.

She was struggling to control her body due to the aftereffects of Extermination Mode.

Normally, when muscles experience counter-movements, people immediately stop or get injured.

However, Elysse had ignored the recoil from these counter-movements by using Extermination Mode.

The accumulated damage had left her unable to move freely.

Despite this, when Radios approached, she nodded and reported.

“Underworld Messenger Elysse. I greet you, Radios Magnum, representative of the Lord of the Underworld.”

“…So Hades designated me as his representative?”

“Yes. He thought you were the only option, so he sent me up.”

    “I see.”

But now I’ve become the Blind Idiot God’s apostle.

The hope of Olympus and an apostle of the Outer Gods’ leader.

Radios now held two titles that should never coexist.

Of course, he didn’t mention this to Elysse.

She clearly seemed like a woman who strictly adhered to principles.

If his connection to the Outer Gods was revealed, there was no telling how she would react.

‘Come to think of it… this is all Hades’ fault, isn’t it?’

Couldn’t he have sent someone even more capable than Elysse?

And even if Cthuga’s summoning was more than a month ahead of schedule, it shouldn’t have happened this quickly.

Radios, cleverly rationalizing his situation, blamed everything on Hades.

For now, he asked only the most essential questions.

    “Do I look any different?”

“No. Honestly, I was surprised when you created a gun from Astrape and shot Cthuga dead, but I don’t see any changes in you.”

    “What?”

    Shot him dead?

He did shoot, but Cthuga had expanded and then been absorbed into Radios’ body by the Blind Idiot God.

But from Elysse’s response, it seemed that scene never happened.

She had definitely been watching, though.

“…What was Cthuga’s end like? I was in such bad shape that I don’t remember clearly.”

“I wouldn’t say you were in bad shape, but Cthuga was pierced by the bullet, let out a death cry, and vanished on the spot.”

    “I see.”

Apparently, his encounter with the Blind Idiot God was visible only to him.

If Elysse had seen it, she would surely have mentioned it.

Moreover, knowing Hades’ personality, if he learned about contact with the Outer Gods?

‘He might invade Kadinant, penalties be damned.’

He would think he’d been deceived.

But as long as nothing happened, it was better to pretend the meeting with the Blind Idiot God never occurred.

Honestly, he was still in shock.

“Did you run into the kids?”

“Yes. I encountered the goblin girl, but I didn’t take her life.”

    “…Tsk.”

This part was entirely Radios’ fault.

Friction had occurred because he hadn’t properly explained his plan, thinking of it as a gamble.

    ‘I should apologize.’

Deciding to deactivate his skill first, he released the Sword of Judgment.

    “Boss!!”

    “Las oppa!!”

    “Boss!”

Arsia, Brina, and Tiaran all rushed toward him at once.

    “Oof! Kids, w-wait!”

Though startled by the sudden attack(?), Radios was at a loss.

But when he saw tears flowing from Arsia’s eyes, and both Brina and Tiaran showing vulnerability, he patted their backs.

He could tell how much they had worried about him.

“Thank you for believing in me, kids.”

“Th-thank you again? Is ‘thank you’ all you can say? Mr. Thankios Magnum?”

“What kind of name is that…”

“Anyway, no more gambling from today! Try something like that one more time and I won’t let you off easy!”

    “…Okay.”

Radios could only lower his tail to the fiercely angry Arsia.

‘If I told them what happened inside the Sword of Judgment, it would be a disaster.’

Before his contact with the Blind Idiot God, he had been practically a corpse.

Perhaps the only reason he could endure was because it was the realm of the dead.

And because he had already experienced death once before?

This time, it felt like he had truly tasted hell.

If someone asked him to do it again… ugh.

He couldn’t bear to think about it.

Although there was no mirror to see himself, Radios was certain he must have looked quite hideous.

His entire body would have been covered in burns, with bones broken and twisted at bizarre angles.

“Ah! But did you catch the bastard who summoned Cthuga?”

    “Of course we did.”

Radios first focused on identifying the traitor.

Jirk, who had already lost his will to betray, readily named not only the one who summoned Cthuga but other traitors as well.

Thanks to this, they were able to root out four traitors.

Of course, Radios showed no mercy to the betrayers.

“Jirk. We’ve been together for a long time, but you know that betrayal is something I can never forgive.”

    “…Yes.”

“I’ll save your family. Now you can rest.”

    Slash!

With the beheading of Jirk, the execution of those who had betrayed the Guardian Spirit ended.

    The barracks fell into silence.

The soldiers of the 3rd Corps seemed unable to believe that Jirk was a traitor, despite trying to act otherwise.

It must be shocking to learn that the man they had always followed was a betrayer.

In fact, the person most shocked would be Tiaran.

Tiaran and Jirk had been childhood friends, and now this outcome.

Radios was about to offer her words of comfort but instead just patted her shoulder and stepped aside.

It seemed right that Tiaran, not him, should be the one to handle the body.

    “Now… what happens next…”

    There was much to do.

Explain his relationship with Elysse, explain what happened inside the Sword of Judgment.

Investigate Namgung Ihyun’s purpose, gather the surviving Guardian Spirits from other places.

Listing it all out, there was an impossibly large amount of work ahead.

This was just the beginning. Even if they had captured a high-ranking Great Old One, it was merely the start.

‘Blind Idiot God… I don’t know what you want. But.’

If he could use any available power to annihilate the Outer Gods.

Even if it was the power of the Blind Idiot God, he would use it without hesitation.

    ***

    “So Cthuga… is dead.”

“He was just a fool. I didn’t expect him to die at the hands of a mere human.”

“I hear a messenger from the Underworld came to assist. But Cthuga’s deployment has thrown our schedule into disarray.”

The man lamenting after sensing Cthuga’s death.

He was called the supreme commander of the Outer Gods, maintaining the position of the strongest among them.

The Blind Idiot God’s most trusted subordinate, Yog-Sothoth, the Lurker at the Threshold.

“It’s getting annoying that I can’t clearly see what’s happening in Kadinant from here.”

“That’s not something you should worry about, Lurker. Kadinant will soon be suppressed.”

“Cthulhu… I’d like to know exactly when this ‘soon’ of yours refers to?”

Yog-Sothoth asked with a faint smile, addressing Cthulhu, the leader of the Great Old Ones.

    Cthulhu reflexively shut his mouth.

He felt that no matter what he said, he couldn’t escape Yog-Sothoth’s wrath.

    “Hurk!”

    “I’m speaking to you, Cthulhu.”

    Sure enough.

Yog-Sothoth grabbed the silent Cthulhu by the throat and lifted him into the air.

“Am I being ignored while I’m speaking?”

    “N-no, not at all!”

“Then you should answer. When exactly is this ‘soon’?”

“O-one year! We’ll accomplish it within a year!”

    “…Fine, let’s see you try.”

Yog-Sothoth, seemingly losing interest in Cthulhu’s answer, threw him aside.

Cthulhu carefully left the space where Yog-Sothoth resided.

Once he confirmed no one was around, Yog-Sothoth took out three boxes.

Inside were three fragments emitting a brilliant light.

All were Divine Fragments left behind by the Blind Idiot God.

    “But… why are they glowing?”

He noticed a phenomenon he had never seen before.

The fragments, which had always been dormant, were now emitting a faint light.

Yog-Sothoth wondered if the Blind Idiot God might be returning.

    “That’s impossible. Father… surely…”

I killed him with these hands.

The one who trusted his back to his most trusted subordinate was torn apart by the hand of a subordinate who couldn’t overcome greed.

His being split into four fragments as he vented his anguish.

Yog-Sothoth gritting his teeth and finding all those fragments.

It was all to completely erase the Blind Idiot God’s soul and take the power remaining in the fragments.

Naturally, the other Outer Gods don’t know these details.

Of course, the Witch of Dreams, Id, is an exception. She was truly a witch-like woman who knew everything except what she didn’t know.

Nevertheless, the reason she remained silent until now was purely out of interest, she claimed.

“Father, wherever you are, it doesn’t matter. Please just don’t interfere with your child’s path.”

The old man of the past era should be pushed into a back room.

He refused to fight and made a filthy contract with a superior being from another universe with power similar to his own.

    What, a non-aggression treaty?

    What bullshit.

The Blind Idiot God was truly idiotic.

Despite facing situations that required fighting, he didn’t fight, which is why Yog-Sothoth betrayed him.

    His goal was singular.

To devour everything in this universe, and ultimately absorb the power of his kind to stand above the Blind Idiot God.

Both Namgung Ihyun and his kin were merely stepping stones for his goal.

“Father, please don’t return. I cannot kill my father twice by my own hands.”

Yog-Sothoth clutched the fragments with an evil smile.

The light emanating from the fragments gradually faded, as if it had never shone.

Yog-Sothoth ground his teeth as he muttered the name of the woman who had created this situation.

“■■■ ■■■, was it? When we meet again, I’ll make you kneel before me.”

As the Blind Idiot God had said, her power was something even Yog-Sothoth couldn’t comprehend.

    Look at this.

It’s impossible to even properly speak her name.

    What Yog-Sothoth knew was:

The Blind Idiot God and she had made some kind of contract, which was a non-aggression treaty.

He hadn’t seen that woman since.

But he would meet her soon.

Once he devoured Kadinant and brought even Olympus to its knees.

“The world will be mine… hehehe.”

    Yog-Sothoth sneered ominously.
