Ch.293[Chapter 293] City of Disaster
by fnovelpia
The raindrops grew heavier until they poured down painfully.
Yet Sir Dominic could see clearly into the distance despite this downpour.
This wasn’t because Sir Dominic had good eyesight or exceptional stats.
“■■■■■■■-!!!”
It was because of the mecha dinosaur, containing enough energy to evaporate these raindrops.
The mecha dinosaur spewed breath from its mouth.
Blue flames erupted at maximum output, making the previous red flames seem like mere play.
The tremendous flames poured toward Konga as if to incinerate everything, but Konga snorted and yanked Tempesto’s reins.
Tempesto faced the incoming breath head-on.
The blue flames easily engulfed Tempesto, but that didn’t mean Tempesto and Konga were easy opponents.
“Tempesto-!”
With a whoosh, Tempesto emerged through the flames that had enveloped him.
Tempesto instantly stepped to the side of the mecha dinosaur and bit its neck.
Most creatures had vulnerable necks, and Tempesto the predator knew well that biting the neck would render them powerless.
However, the mecha dinosaur was no pushover either.
The mecha dinosaur concentrated energy in the panels on its back and fired lasers toward Tempesto’s eyes.
“…Dodge it, Tempesto!”
Seeing the laser coming, Konga urgently pulled the reins to separate Tempesto from the mecha dinosaur.
Fortunately, the laser merely grazed a few of Tempesto’s scales, leaving him unharmed.
Sir Dominic had simply called it a dinosaur until now, not knowing what kind of mecha dinosaur it was, but Konga seemed knowledgeable about dinosaurs, immediately recognizing that this mecha dinosaur was based on a stegosaurus.
“You despicable stegosaurus!”
“■■■■■■-!!!”
The mecha stegosaurus struck the ground repeatedly with its tail covered in new-material steel, as if this much was basic.
Its demeanor resembled a champion facing a challenger, like a master giving a novice three free attacks.
Naturally, Konga and Tempesto were greatly offended by this attitude.
They couldn’t stand seeing a mere dinosaur fused with machinery acting like royalty before a true king.
“Tempesto! Let’s get serious now! First… we’ll go with E minor! [Rush E Minor]!”
Tempesto slowly began beating the djembe.
“…Holy white crow.”
Sir Dominic couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration.
Sir Dominic could clearly see the battle between the mecha stegosaurus and Konga even in the now storm-like environment.
His drumbeats echoed throughout the amusement park, causing the falling raindrops to hesitate and stutter with each vibration.
But the mecha dinosaur was no pushover either.
“■■■■■■-!”
The mecha dinosaur suddenly roared and began discharging electricity.
The surrounding environment was already wet with rain, perfect for conducting electricity, but the mecha dinosaur chose to shoot the current toward the dark clouds.
Sir Dominic initially didn’t understand why the mecha dinosaur had sent electricity skyward, but soon realized the reason.
The current bounced and rebounded among the dark clouds, growing in magnitude until it created a massive lightning storm large enough to cover the entire amusement park.
However, Konga already knew how to handle lightning.
Lightning rushed toward Konga with terrifying force.
But Konga had already changed the djembe’s sound effect to EDM, Electronic Dance Music.
Konga and Tempesto had gained immunity to electricity through the electronic effect.
“Not a chance! None of your attacks work on me!”
After countering the opponent’s attack, Konga increased the tempo of the drum as if to maintain momentum.
The tempo became so fast that Konga’s arms appeared to number sixteen.
As the drum tempo increased, natural phenomena began to obey Konga more and more.
Of course, Konga’s capacity was limited to only about a 10-meter radius, but even with that, Konga was practically godlike.
Raindrops paused in midair and fell in rhythm with Konga’s beat.
Clouds produced thunder every four beats, and lightning struck at different heights, creating an electronic melody.
Konga wasn’t the only one performing well.
Konga’s loyal pet Tyrannosaurus, Fortissimo Tempesto, was naturally active too.
Tempesto didn’t miss the opening when the mecha stegosaurus temporarily powered down after discharging electricity.
Drawing on the inner strength that Konga was pulling out, Tempesto bit down on the mecha stegosaurus’s neck again with all his might.
“■■■■■■-?! ■■■■■■-!!”
The mecha stegosaurus struggled desperately to break free from that tremendous bite force.
But the strength of a stegosaurus merely borrowing mechanical power couldn’t overcome the bite force of Tempesto, the king of dinosaurs.
In a final desperate act, the mecha stegosaurus simultaneously spewed breath and electricity.
The red flames were weaker than the previous blue flames, and the electricity was less powerful than before, but they were still potentially fatal attacks for Tempesto, made of flesh and blood.
Of course, that would be true if Konga weren’t there.
“Haha! Our victory! Yes, yes!”
Konga struck the djembe with all his might, cheering.
“Now, let’s move to the next song! [Take the B-Train]!”
The mecha stegosaurus flinched when Konga shouted.
The mecha stegosaurus, which had gained high intelligence through mechanical assistance—high for a stegosaurus, at least—sensed something ominous in Konga’s words.
Detecting danger, the mecha stegosaurus forcibly cut off its electrical discharge and breath, then backed away.
It seemed to be preparing for Konga’s next technique.
However, the mecha stegosaurus wouldn’t have another chance.
Thud.
A massive log had been driven into where the mecha stegosaurus’s heart would be.
And it was clearly a prepared log with a sharpened end.
If the mecha stegosaurus could have had a proper expression, it would surely be shocked in disbelief right now.
Konga mocked the mecha stegosaurus with that thought.
“You’ve already fallen for my technique. Because I Betrayed your expectations.”
My goodness! Here we could see just how clever a goblin Konga was.
Betrayal? Of course, that wasn’t the reason.
In the goblin world, betrayal was a natural phenomenon, occurring more naturally than breathing.
What showed Konga’s intelligence was that he could make wordplay in English.
“My, how incredibly smart. Well, that’s why he’s a raid boss, I suppose.”
Sir Dominic, who could hear this wordplay right beside him, clicked his tongue in admiration.
“■■■…”
The mecha stegosaurus uttered an incomprehensible word as if accusing them of cowardice, then collapsed powerlessly.
No one would understand the meaning of the mecha dinosaur’s words… no, no one except Tempesto would understand, but somehow Sir Dominic felt like he heard an automatic translation.
The mecha dinosaur laid its cold body on the ground with a thud.
Then it slowly turned to dust, mixing with rainwater and seeping into the ground.
“…We won! We won! Now no one can defeat us, Konga and Tempesto! At least among dinosaurs!”
Konga panted heavily, then became extremely excited upon realizing they had completely defeated the mecha dinosaur.
Konga was jumping up and down on Tempesto doing a Cossack dance, and Tempesto, equally excited, began doing a shuffle dance.
Of course, Sir Dominic wasn’t dancing.
His first question was why Konga and Tempesto were here in the first place.
Unable to contain his curiosity, Sir Dominic approached Konga, who was still dancing.
…
“So you’re saying you came to attend tomorrow’s completion ceremony?”
“Yes! I was told to come show my face since it’s an amusement park Sir Dominic invested in!”
“Who told you that?”
“A man who introduced himself as Don Castello!”
Sir Dominic took shelter with Konga in a nearby building to escape the rain that had started pouring properly after the battle ended.
It happened to be either a food court or a food storage for workers, with enough food to feed Tempesto generously and still have plenty left.
Tempesto, being a poikilotherm, ate his fill and, feeling drowsy, lay down and began to sleep right there.
Of course, regardless of academic opinions.
Sir Dominic asked Konga why he was here.
To that question, Konga said Don Castello had invited him.
Sir Dominic looked at the rain outside with a dejected expression.
Konga wasn’t particularly close to Sir Dominic.
They were merely acquaintances who exchanged greetings when they happened to meet.
Yet Don Castello had contacted even Konga.
That meant…
“…I suppose almost everyone I know received an invitation call.”
Sir Dominic continued to look at the raindrops.
No, he was looking beyond them.
At those who would have gathered to attend tomorrow’s completion ceremony.
