Chapter Index

Of course, for Humanity to do anything about the Xenovia Empire…

Given that they were already expending tremendous effort dealing with the weakened members on their purge list.

Realistically, they had no interest in the Xenovia Empire from the start.

At the same time, what was known as Humanity’s reinforcements were actually just other users utilizing ships that had been captured during the invasion.

Or simply picking up and using abandoned ships.

Unfortunately, it took quite a long time for these facts to come to light.

From my current perspective, this was information I couldn’t possibly have known.

Anyway, while I was living my life checking on situations like the civil war(?) happening in the distant Xenovia Empire…

    ‘Finally.’

As soon as the event message appeared announcing the completion of the docking facility I had started earlier, I immediately decided to rush the construction of a new docking facility.

After initiating that construction, I decided to check how many resource mining ships I currently had.

Of course, I didn’t personally search through all this information.

    “Jessica, resource mining ships.”

“28 ships, but can’t you check this yourself, Commander?”

“Sometimes a person just wants to make others do things for them.”

    “…”

I was finding out through Jessica-mon who was always standing by.

Anyway, after learning the number of mining ships, I immediately ordered the construction of 2 more mining ships at the shipyard according to my original plan to reach 30 ships.

Then I dismantled one destroyer that wasn’t being used for transport to free up fleet points.

With those 100 points gained, I ordered the construction of Cruiser Battleship No. 6 and Large Aircraft Carrier No. 2 at the large ship shipyard.

    And the result.

    ‘Hmm.’

I found myself nodding at the fact that the ships would once again perfectly match the fleet points.

But as I thought about this, I suddenly realized something new.

Looking at this, even after investing 1.2 million minerals and hundreds of thousands of rare resources, plus additional resources…

The total force a user could add was just one cruiser battleship and one aircraft carrier.

‘There really is a limit to how much a single user can increase their forces.’

Even when the next docking facility is completed, I remember the limit would only be around 850 or 900 points.

At maximum, that’s just 3 battleships and 1 cruiser battleship.

Or 2 aircraft carriers and 1 medium cruiser.

Or canceling what’s currently under construction and building just 15 medium cruisers…

It’s something I realize anew each time, though I’ve known it all along.

Unless you have a cheat key like Marian that allows you to wage a one-person war of attrition like me, there are significant limitations to how much a single user can increase their forces.

Even if I upgrade to level 9 and then level 10…

The number of ships I could directly produce in a ‘large ship’ centered formation would likely struggle to exceed 100.

Moreover, now that “Rairan’s” defense fleet has departed, the “forces” protecting me have clearly diminished.

    “Hmm, Jessica.”

    “Yes, Commander.”

“If I were to cause trouble by hiring unlimited mercenaries, how long do you think I could last?”

“Well… it depends on the level of trouble, but honestly, probably not even a week?”

    “…Is that so.”

“Yes, and besides, didn’t you decide to avoid accumulating bad karma through such troublemaking?”

    Just as Jessica said.

And as I had stated in the past, since it was awkward to accumulate karma and run wild…

I had no intention of meeting the same end as Raksha and the Rotten Water Clan, so for the time being, I decided to quietly gather resources and focus only on base construction.

Then, when I eventually had nowhere else to spend resources, I would try expanding my territory by consuming suitable bases…

That was the small and modest(?) plan I decided to make.

But less than a day after making such plans…

A flashy UI global announcement appeared before the eyes of users including myself.

However, the content of this announcement wasn’t about the usual user participation events, but rather about an update.

    —————————————-

    <Global Announcement>

    <<<Base System Update>>>

    <Notice to all Commanders.>

<We have received numerous opinions that the bases you currently occupy or plan to occupy have little functionality beyond ‘self-defense’.>

<After investigating this issue, the management team has confirmed.>

<That base functionality is indeed excessively focused on self-defense, and aside from resource and currency acquisition, other functions are practically non-existent.>

<In three days, an update will add numerous system menus related to ‘bases’.>

<Detailed information will be uploaded after the update is completed in three days, so please stay tuned.>

    —————————————-

    ‘…Out of nowhere?’

Seeing this completely unexpected update announcement.

As someone who had been content with my base without giving it much thought, I found this quite surprising.

‘What? They already give free resources every week, gold too, plus fleet construction points and excellent self-defense capabilities, and that’s not enough?’

But this was just my thinking as someone playing “Fortress of Solitude.”

Curious about other users’ reactions, I quietly opened the community window.

    ‘Ugh, damn it.’

After first deleting four or five disgusting troll posts that naturally greeted me.

I opened the gallery to check the reactions… and well…

Users were burning with excitement beyond my expectations.

Especially clan-affiliated users seemed particularly happy, which made me realize that user dissatisfaction had been greater than I thought.
