Ch.288[Chapter 288] Schemes Looming Over Tycoon City

“Thank you! Thank you so much! It’s not much, but here’s a GachaTube VVIP membership. It’s all I have right now. With this, you can use all the rides, accommodations, and street vendors at GachaTube for free.”

Don Castello bowed his head repeatedly to Sir Dominic to express his gratitude.

“It’s nothing. Shouldn’t we help each other in life?”

Sir Dominic said this as he sent Don Castello on his way.

When Sir Dominic mentioned that he had some internal company issues at the moment but would visit him next time, Don Castello couldn’t stay any longer.

Don Castello kept expressing his thanks as he disappeared into the elevator.

    “…”

Once Don Castello was gone, Sir Dominic rested his chin on his hand, blinked a couple of times as if thinking about something, and then grinned.

That smile was the most greedy and wicked smile Sir Dominic could make, far from his usual hearty and wicked… no, bright smile.

“According to plan. According to plan.”

Sir Dominic said this as he collapsed onto the sofa.

Surrendering himself to the unnecessarily plush sofa that was supposedly appropriate for a CEO’s office, Sir Dominic continued to snicker, celebrating his successful first step of the plan.

“I’ve done all I can now. Now it depends on how Don Castello responds…”

Sir Dominic thought about Don Castello.

The image of Don Castello wasn’t very reassuring.

The image of a failed businessman who had ruined business after business.

An unlikable image due to the synergy of his greedy appearance and incompetence.

However, in the current situation, Sir Dominic couldn’t help but find Don Castello’s image incredibly reassuring.

The scheme Sir Dominic had in mind was… to fail so spectacularly that he would have no lingering attachment to this place!

    Sir Dominic thought.

Why had Sir Dominic come to Tycoon City in the first place?

It was because Sir Dominic owned a building in this Tycoon City.

    And Sir Dominic thought.

Why was he spending time here instead of returning to GachaTube?

It was because of this building.

At least that’s what Sir Dominic thought.

    So…

    Sir Dominic thought.

What if he went bankrupt so badly that even this building was mortgaged?

What if he became so disgusted that he couldn’t have any lingering attachment?

This was the plan Sir Dominic was aiming for.

Invest as much as possible in Don Castello’s business and spare no advice.

Don Castello would go bankrupt because he was unfamiliar with the business, but since Sir Dominic had invested jointly, he would suffer minimal losses and focus only on GachaTube in GachaTube.

Most of the losses would be borne by Sir Dominic’s farm, and then Sir Dominic planned to file for bankruptcy and leave for GachaTube.

The remaining employees would each find jobs at different companies and live happy lives.

Thus, a world where no one gets hurt would be complete.

It was truly an amazing idea that no one in their right mind would come up with or execute!

But Sir Dominic was not in his right mind right now.

In fact, Sir Dominic was so sick of life in Tycoon City that he couldn’t think properly.

However, looking closely, Sir Dominic’s plan itself was quite feasible.

“As long as Don Castello doesn’t suddenly have an epiphany and succeed in this business, there shouldn’t be any variables.”

Sir Dominic said this, feeling at ease for the first time in a long while.

But Sir Dominic didn’t know yet.

Don Castello had already met with Mayor Meyer of Tycoon City before meeting Sir Dominic, and had already been promised tremendous support.

Regardless, Sir Dominic called Pedro with a beaming smile, asking him to bring the labor union leader.

According to Sir Dominic’s plan, the farm would soon disappear, but even so, he needed to resolve the internal company issues now.

“So, the reason is that GachaTube is too far away?”

    “That’s right.”

Farmer Juan tried his best to squeeze out a forced reason to persuade Sir Dominic.

It was a desperate effort to reduce the minimum 3-night, 4-day vacation period by a day or two.

Beads of sweat formed on Juan’s forehead, partly because he was working hard to persuade, but also because he knew that if the persuasion failed, the union members wouldn’t leave Juan alone.

They would surely move Juan’s desk to the sunniest spot with the most pleasant temperature and air.

And they would divide Juan’s work among themselves, preventing Juan from doing anything except browsing online shopping malls.

They would turn him into a parasite wasting company money.

Farmer Juan felt dizzy just imagining such a horrifying scene.

So he had no choice but to roll his eyes and foam at the mouth while bringing up the vacation issue.

At least so he could make the excuse that he had done his best.

Fortunately, Sir Dominic might not know much about business and management, but he was a good listener.

“…Alright. Then I won’t force you to take a vacation to GachaTube.”

Phew. Farmer Juan let out a sigh of relief at Sir Dominic’s words.

The first step seemed to have been successful.

“But I cannot forgive those who have committed what you call… ‘illegal overtime.’ They will go on vacation to GachaTube in GachaTube. For about two weeks.”

Two weeks! Farmer Juan stepped back with a pale face.

Sir Dominic’s words were that harsh.

But Juan knew that this was already reduced from what was originally going to be a month.

Since he had reduced the period by half, it was awkward to mention this part any further.

“And I cannot compromise on vacations for the rest of the staff.”

    “Sir!”

Farmer Juan shouted in surprise at Sir Dominic’s words.

It was quite disrespectful, but Sir Dominic didn’t mind Juan’s behavior much.

    Instead, Sir Dominic firmly said:

“It takes half a day to travel to and from GachaTube. That means coming and going takes half a day. If we count by daylight, it’s a full day, so I’ll subtract one day.”

Ah. Juan nodded at Sir Dominic’s words.

It wasn’t the best option of two days, but excluding one day was a satisfactory negotiation.

Actually, it wasn’t that satisfactory, but considering Sir Dominic’s stubbornness, he thought he had done quite well.

Until he heard Sir Dominic’s next words.

“However, if you want to rest one day less, you must spend your vacation at the newly opening GachaTube in Tycoon City. Otherwise, the 3-night, 4-day rule applies.”

    “…Sir!”

Farmer Juan was already not too happy about reducing just one day, but he burst out in anger when he found out even that came with conditions.

Getting angry at the boss was disrespectful, but in Juan’s opinion, this was going too far.

    But Sir Dominic was firm.

Farmer Juan, while fuming, met the determination in Sir Dominic’s one remaining eye.

And he realized that no matter what he said, there was no possibility that Sir Dominic would withdraw this offer.

Farmer Juan ran his palm over his face as if it was terrible.

He wanted to give up right away and be satisfied with this offer, but he couldn’t because he thought of the faces of the union members.

Juan engaged in a silent battle of nerves, trying to find a crack in Sir Dominic’s stance.

And finally, having found what seemed like a crack in Sir Dominic, Juan summoned all his will and said:

“Two days. Instead of going to GachaTube in Tycoon City, reduce it by two days. Then we won’t do any more illegal overtime.”

    “…Alright.”

Sir Dominic rose from his seat with a bright smile.

It wasn’t greedy or vile, nor was it wicked or vicious.

It was just a smile of satisfaction for having secured company welfare.

Sir Dominic approached Juan with a smile.

And he extended his hand to Juan for a handshake.

    “The contract is sealed.”

    “…Thank you.”

Juan closed his eyes tightly and grasped Sir Dominic’s hand.

He consoled himself with the thought that he had done quite well.

While Sir Dominic was in Tycoon City, at System Industries in GachaTube…

“…Ugh. Done. I finished it all.”

“What? You said you were patching the submarine, but you’re already done?”

    “Yeah.”

One of the coders at System Industries stretched.

Seeing this, another coder handed the stretching coder an energy drink and gulped down one himself.

“By the way, what did you say you were patching? Didn’t you say you were adding various things before going to beta?”

    “Oh, it’s nothing special.”

The coder who received the energy drink fiddled with it in his hand.

He seemed a bit tired of energy drinks after drinking too many lately.

“The code was too clean before, which was a problem. So I put in a few bugs again.”

    “…What?”

“Hah… I really feel more at ease when there are bugs.”

The fellow coder looked at him as if he was crazy.

But the coder who planted the bugs seemed satisfied, staring at the bug codes with glazed eyes as if his head was full of flowers.

And those codes crackled, potentially in a state that might instigate discord between GachaTube and Tycoon City.
