Ch.287[Chapter 287] Schemes Looming Over Tycoon City

In Sir Dominic’s farm building, on the 177th floor… no, now the 178th floor, was the president’s office.

Sir Dominic, dressed in a luxury suit, was gazing out the window at the dizzying height of the 179th floor.

Sir Dominic’s 180-story building stood about 50… no, 51 floors taller than its surroundings, showing the fastest growth in the area.

At least within this block, Sir Dominic was the only one with a building reaching 183 floors.

Sir Dominic had acquired unexpected wealth in Tycoon World.

However, Sir Dominic was now beginning to grow sick of Tycoon City.

Managing just one building that he had received without much thought was proving to be this difficult.

Kanku Warrior hadn’t given Sir Dominic a building for nothing.

It might have been better to hand it over to someone else rather than manage it with such difficulty.

“At this rate, I’m just a merchant, not worthy of being called a knight.”

Sir Dominic thought of Giacomo de Venucci, one of Feralant’s supporters and an imperial governor.

He was more infamous as a businessman than famous as a general.

He was someone who valued money and efficiency over honor and fame.

Of course, he was also known for donating all his wealth to the country and returning to military service during the demon invasion.

Sir Dominic was closer to being a warrior than a politician or businessman.

He was the type who found peace of mind looking at rivers of blood and mountains of heads, not mountains of numbers and papers.

“…I should return to Gachaland soon.”

Sir Dominic had no more business in Tycoon City.

In fact, Sir Dominic had only come to see his building in Tycoon City, not to get so deeply involved in management.

Sir Dominic rose from his seat, thinking of delegating full authority to Pedro and stepping back from the front lines.

Just then, there was a knock at the door, followed by Pedro’s voice.

“Excuse me, Sir Dominic. There’s someone who wants to see you.”

“Hmm. Is it someone from the labor union?”

“Half right, Sir. There are two people.”

    “Two people?”

Sir Dominic had expected the labor union to visit regarding vacation issues, but the second visitor was unexpected.

“Yes. He introduced himself as Don Cartello. He said you would know him…”

    “Ah.”

    Sir Dominic remembered Don Cartello.

Wasn’t he the current owner of Gachaworld, the amusement park in Gachaland?

He had heard the business was doing well, but to meet like this…

    …Sir Dominic suddenly startled himself.

He realized he was thinking about what benefit he could gain from meeting Don Cartello.

“…I really need to get back to Gachaland soon.”

    “Pardon?”

“Nothing, just talking to myself. Anyway, who arrived first?”

Sir Dominic asked Pedro about the first visitor.

“Don Cartello. He said it’s business-related. What would you like to do?”

“What about the person from the labor union?”

“Union leader Juan can wait a while. When I told him you were busy, he said to call him when you have time. He’s going to work on completing the classification system for agricultural products.”

“…Then call Don Cartello. Which floor was the reception room again?”

“It’s right below the president’s office, so it should be on the 193rd floor now.”

“Then it will be the 197th floor when we arrive. I understand.”

Sir Dominic and Pedro took the elevator down.

Sir Dominic got off at the 197th floor, just below, while Pedro headed to the 1st floor where Don Cartello was waiting.

After waiting briefly in the reception room, the elevator display showed 202nd floor as the doors opened.

And there, a familiar figure appeared.

A chin folded more than twice, a frighteningly round figure, and a face that looked greedy.

    It was Don Cartello.

“Sir Dominic! I heard you’ve been doing well, and you really are! Your clothes look very expensive.”

Don Cartello approached Sir Dominic in a friendly manner, complimenting his clothes.

In fact, Don Cartello had reformed after the Gachaworld incident, so his relationship with Sir Dominic wasn’t bad.

Unlike his brother Don Castello, Don Cartello was at least on speaking terms with Sir Dominic.

“Thank you. Why did you want to see me?”

Sir Dominic wanted to get straight to the point.

Sir Dominic’s personality wasn’t one for flowery language.

This was separate from doing business.

“Well, can we sit down and talk first?”

Don Cartello pointed to the sofa, sweating profusely.

“The altitude is so high, it’s hard to breathe.”

    Ah.

Sir Dominic nodded at Don Cartello’s words.

It made sense, given that the building was a towering 213 floors.

“Please sit. Would you like some coffee?”

“Green tea. I’m cutting down on sweets and caffeine these days.”

Don Cartello ordered green tea instead of coffee, using caffeine as an excuse.

Of course, green tea contained more caffeine, but Don Cartello wasn’t smart enough to know that.

A caramel macchiato and green tea were placed in front of Sir Dominic and Don Cartello respectively.

The green tea was cool with plenty of ice, seemingly a consideration for the sweating man to cool down.

    “Thanks. This is refreshing.”

Don Cartello thanked Sir Dominic after gulping down the iced green tea in one go.

“Don’t mention it. Now, why have you come here?”

Sir Dominic asked about the main point as soon as he thought Don Cartello had calmed down.

Of course, Don Cartello also disliked complicated rhetoric, so he got straight to the point.

“Would you like to do business together?”

    “Business?”

Sir Dominic listened to Don Cartello’s words.

It wasn’t because he was interested in business.

He was just surprised that Don Cartello would make such a proposal to him.

However, Don Cartello seemed to interpret this as interest and continued speaking.

“I’m expanding my business, and I’ve chosen Tycoon City as my first step.”

Ah. Sir Dominic suddenly remembered an article he had read in the newspaper that morning.

‘Gachaland Capital Infiltrating Tycoon City.’ That was the title, or something like it.

The article mentioned that several businessmen, centered around Sir Dominic, were entering Tycoon City, and it seemed that one of them was this Don Cartello.

    “By business, you mean Gachaworld?”

    “That’s right.”

“Seems to be doing well. I take it you’ve made up for the losses.”

“Of course. We’ve been in the black for quite some time now. Enough to build another amusement park or two.”

Sir Dominic nodded at Don Cartello’s words but couldn’t help but tilt his head in confusion.

If that was the case, what exactly did Don Cartello see in Sir Dominic to propose a partnership?

“Well, it’s true I have money. But… as you know, I have zero experience expanding a business. Especially since they say Tycoon City is different from Gachaland. In such a place, wouldn’t it make sense to learn from someone who’s already succeeded?”

Don Cartello boasted that with Sir Dominic’s business acumen and his capital combined, nothing would be impossible.

“Think about it. Just one piece of advice from you, and tons of flour will be delivered to the hot dog stands in Gachaworld. Paid in full. Another piece of advice, and the candy shops will order loads of sugar. Sugar worth enough to buy several sugarcane or sugar beet fields!”

Don Cartello’s words were a declaration that if Sir Dominic provided advice, he would purchase all food supplies consumed at the amusement park from Sir Dominic’s farm.

Don Cartello was confident he could thrive in Tycoon City with just a little advice.

Of course, there was no basis for this confidence.

Sir Dominic was bewildered by Don Cartello’s baseless confidence and was about to reject his proposal.

However, suddenly, Sir Dominic had a thought.

Don Cartello was once someone who could rightfully be called “Minus Hand,” failing at every business venture he undertook.

Now, with Don Castello’s help, he had become somewhat accustomed to running an amusement park, but operating one park versus two was a different matter.

Especially when dealing with the people of Tycoon City, who stimulated the economy because they hated resting.

Could he perhaps tie all these issues together and solve every problem at once?

An ordinary citizen of Gachaland or Tycoon City wouldn’t even think of connecting these things, but Sir Dominic was a free thinker bound neither to Gachaland nor Tycoon City.

In other words, he had no preconceptions.

Because of this, Sir Dominic surprisingly came up with a strategy that tied everything together.

Perhaps a way to help Don Cartello while stopping the growth of his farm (which had already exceeded 227 floors), curing his employees’ work addiction, and allowing Sir Dominic himself to return to Gachaland.

And it was, at least in Sir Dominic’s mind, an excellent plan.
