Ch.280[Chapter 280] Repayment Aftermath
by fnovelpia
“…that’s the content.”
Sir Dominic looked at Wangi, the executive of Mountain Bridge Marsh who suddenly appeared and tossed him a script.
“What is all this?”
Sir Dominic stared at Wangi with bewilderment, but Wangi replied nonchalantly as if it were obvious.
“It’s about what happened yesterday. Don’t you remember?”
No, that’s not it… The words rose to Sir Dominic’s throat.
“Anyway, why did you bring this here?”
Sir Dominic decided to ask the fundamental question instead.
“Weren’t we enemies after yesterday’s fight?”
“In business, there are no enemies or allies. Only money.”
Wangi crossed his legs arrogantly.
“Above all, isn’t legal money obviously better than illegal money?”
Sir Dominic looked again at the paper Wangi had handed him after hearing his words.
It had the trademark name [Mountain Bridge Marsh Films] stamped on it.
Apparently, they had chosen filmmaking as their plan to go legitimate.
“Fine. Let’s say I understand all this. But…”
Sir Dominic pointed out several sections in the script.
“Here, here, and here. Do these three parts need to be connected? I’ll accept the relationship between Mass Production and Mountain Bridge Marsh. But it’s not clear whether this is a documentary, an action movie, or a noir film.”
Sir Dominic unexpectedly attacked with logical criticism.
“Besides, the ending is utterly cliché. Do you really think this movie will do well?”
“If we add ‘This story is based on true events’ at the end and include some current situations, wouldn’t it sell quite well?”
Wangi was confident, as if he believed this business couldn’t possibly fail.
“It will fail. It will definitely fail. It’s only passable because it actually happened, but if you make it into a movie, it’ll be criticized for lacking plausibility.”
Sir Dominic tried his best to dissuade Wangi.
Although Sir Dominic’s relationship with Mountain Bridge Marsh wasn’t good, and he couldn’t say he was on good terms with Wangi either, it would be unsettling to just let someone head straight for disaster.
“Above all, why did you embellish yourself so much? And what’s with all these sequel hints? We didn’t fight like this yesterday.”
Sir Dominic recalled his fight with Wangi from yesterday.
There was a satellite weapon, but it wasn’t powerful enough to melt the ground; it only produced enough power for the System to acknowledge, and unlike the movie version of Wangi who escaped coolly at the end, the real Wangi took three hits from Sir Dominic before deciding this wasn’t worth it and running away.
Moreover, the secret underground base was still intact.
Even for Mountain Bridge Marsh, it seemed they were reluctant to blow up such an expensive building.
“So, this movie shouldn’t be made?”
“Not as it is now.”
“Hmm, that’s a shame. I really thought it was a good work.”
Wangi spoke as if genuinely disappointed.
“Well, I’ll take my leave for today then. My business is done. Ah, don’t forget my offer. Contact me here when you make up your mind.”
Wangi handed Sir Dominic a business card.
The front had [Mountain Bridge Marsh Films President, Wangi] written on it with a phone number, and the back contained a brief career history.
Sir Dominic considered throwing the card away but decided it might be better to keep it and put it in his inventory.
“You may go now. I have nothing more to discuss.”
Sir Dominic issued a clear dismissal to Wangi who had stood up.
The reason Sir Dominic and Wangi couldn’t be cordial was that they weren’t particularly close.
“Well, I’ll see you again, Sir Dominic.”
Whether as Mountain Bridge Marsh or Mountain Bridge Marsh Films, that is.
Wangi delivered a line worthy of a third-rate villain.
It was clearly different from his portrayal in the movie.
Sir Dominic let out a deep sigh only after Wangi had completely disappeared.
Perhaps it was because of the movie script filled with embellishments to the point of giving him a headache.
Sir Dominic recalled what really happened yesterday, not the embellished movie version.
It was true that Sir Dominic had encountered a group of protesters.
It was also true that one of the protesters had been threatened by Mountain Bridge Marsh, and that the threatened person was a member of a wealthy family.
Of course, the building in Tycoon City that Sir Dominic received was also real.
However, what followed had some creative liberties…
…
Sir Dominic took a gate after a long time to see the building in Tycoon City.
Although it showed up as an undiscovered area, when he activated the marker through the map app, the gate was activated as well.
Thus, through the gate, he went to Tycoon City.
When Sir Dominic went to find the building he had received as a reward, he discovered members of Mountain Bridge Marsh illegally occupying it.
“Huh? What’s this? This is our territory.”
“Yeah. Get out now!”
The Mountain Bridge Marsh minions threatened Sir Dominic when they saw him.
However, the minions were no match for Sir Dominic.
“Y-you’ll regret this!”
Since Sir Dominic didn’t have a teleporter, he couldn’t catch the fleeing minions.
Satisfied with having driven away the Mountain Bridge Marsh minions, he began to gather information about the building.
But Sir Dominic was soon interrupted in his information gathering when the escaped minions brought back some higher-ranking executives.
“Let the feast of souls begin.”
“Yeah. Get out now.”
The Mountain Bridge Marsh executives, who seemed to have their own unique personalities, rushed at Sir Dominic to teach him a lesson.
Naturally, they were no match for Sir Dominic either.
“Y-you’ll see!”
What followed was a repetition of the above.
The escapees would bring stronger people, they would be thoroughly defeated by Sir Dominic, then run away to bring even stronger executives…
After this happened several times, Sir Dominic stood up as if he could no longer tolerate it.
Since there had just been an attack, Sir Dominic caught one of the fleeing executives.
“This will never end at this rate. Where is your headquarters? I need to clear it out all at once.”
Sir Dominic beat the executive mercilessly with his shield until he revealed the location of their headquarters.
That’s how stressed Sir Dominic had become.
“S-stop! Stop! Our base is in the north! If you want, we can give you two or three more buildings!”
And succumbing to overwhelming violence, the Mountain Bridge Marsh executive eventually confessed everything to Sir Dominic.
“North. You said north.”
After interrogating the executive a bit more to get the exact address, Sir Dominic headed to Mountain Bridge Marsh’s secret base.
…
“Welcome. What brings you here?”
The entrance to Mountain Bridge Marsh’s secret base was set up like an amusement park.
At the entrance was an elderly man, wearing Qing dynasty clothing with a queue hairstyle and a jovial face.
“This looks like… an amusement park.”
When Sir Dominic muttered this, the old man seemed to hear it and explained with a good-natured laugh.
“Mountain Bridge Marsh is currently going legitimate, you see. We’re using our secret base as a public attraction.”
It’s popular with couples. Popular! said the old man, giving a thumbs up.
“By the way, what brings you here? You seem like a new face…”
“Ah.”
Sir Dominic explained to the old man that Mountain Bridge Marsh members kept invading his building.
The old man thought for a moment, then clapped his hands as if he understood.
“My son can help you with that. He’s the manager here, originally one of the top executives of Mountain Bridge Marsh, but he came down here recently to recuperate. If you go to him, he’ll solve everything.”
The old man explained the way to the manager’s office, saying they would let him in right away if he mentioned that Mister Wang sent him.
“…Thank you.”
Sir Dominic tilted his head at how smoothly things were progressing but followed the old man’s instructions and entered the secret base.
After passing through complex corridors and arriving at the manager’s office, Sir Dominic turned his head at what the secretary in front of the office said.
“What business do you have with Mr. Wangi… Sir Dominic?”
“General Joseph?”
Sir Dominic looked at the secretary… no, General Joseph, with surprised eyes.
“…Oh, my goodness. Why is Sir Dominic here…”
General Joseph widened his eyes like a startled rabbit at the fact that Sir Dominic was standing before him.
After not knowing what to do, General Joseph sighed.
“W-what brings you here?”
Business is business, personal is personal.
General Joseph asked Sir Dominic while telling himself to separate work from personal matters.
Sir Dominic, seeing General Joseph’s attitude, also thought there was no need to bring up old matters and answered.
“Mountain Bridge Marsh members keep invading my building, so I came to complain.”
“A complaint. Yes. I understand. Then-“
General Joseph knocked on the manager’s office door with a brief note.
“Mr. Wangi, it’s Joseph. May I come in?”
“Come in.”
With the answer from inside, Joseph entered.
Soon he came back out and called for Sir Dominic.
“Please go in. Mr. Wangi is calling for you.”
Sir Dominic entered the manager’s office at those words.
The door closed behind Sir Dominic as he was looking around the room, which was somewhat luxurious but more modest than expected.
“…Why are you here? No, how did you get here?”
“Everyone asks me that. First, Mister Wang showed me the way.”
“Oh, for heaven’s sake. Father. Why do you always meddle…”
Wangi rubbed his face in irritation after hearing Sir Dominic’s words.
“Fine. So? Why are you looking for me?”
Wangi quickly asked the main point to get Sir Dominic out of there as soon as possible.
“Mountain Bridge Marsh members keep invading my building.”
“Right. I’ll tell the subordinates…”
Wangi was about to give a perfunctory answer to Sir Dominic’s complaint when a thought suddenly occurred to him.
Since Sir Dominic was right in front of him, how about making a bet?
If Sir Dominic wins, I’ll solve the problem; if I win, I’ll solve the problem but he has to work under me.
Wangi congratulated himself on this brilliant idea.
“You, fight me. If you win, I’ll solve that problem. But if I win, you work under me.”
And that thought immediately led to rash action.
“Come on, I’ll give you three free hits.”
Wangi thought that the attacks from Sir Dominic, a mere 3-star tank, couldn’t hurt that much.
Of course, Sir Dominic was not one to refuse such an offer.
“Well, what are you hesitating for? I’m-“
Wangi closed his eyes and arrogantly provoked Sir Dominic.
Of course, because his eyes were closed, he couldn’t see Sir Dominic smiling with tremendous energy in front of him.
On that day, Wangi took three hits first, tried to run away, got hit by Sir Dominic’s thrown shield, rolled, and was then mounted and thoroughly defeated.
That was the true story of what happened that day.
…
Sir Dominic sighed as he organized the events of yesterday in his mind.
Then he suddenly looked at the movie script Wangi had left behind.
Sir Dominic stared at the script for a moment, then shook his head and walked toward the fireplace.
With a thud, the bundle of papers fell into the flames of the fireplace.
The movie script titled [Repayment] began to slowly burn.
