    Ch.27Three Idiots (2)

Lite pushed away Rebecca’s hand and followed Leo into the bank.

Rebecca couldn’t understand why Lite would do such a thing.

They were dealing with villains. People who would easily kill their own comrades to achieve their goals. There was no way a hostage situation would work against them. Moreover, it was obvious that innocent victims could get hurt if things went wrong.

Today wasn’t destined for anyone to die, but Lite had already set a precedent for changing fate. So Rebecca couldn’t simply relax.

‘Why on earth is Ms. Lite acting like this?’

Rebecca tried to recall what had happened to Lite.

First, she had been continuously sexually harassed by Agath, then yesterday she was hit hard on the head with a wooden stick by Leo, almost lost someone precious right before her eyes, experienced the shock of her body changing into a woman’s, and had her memories taken by the Goddess.

This was just a brief summary of what happened yesterday. And there might have been even more shocking events while Rebecca was away.

The most shocking fact was that there were still plenty of reasons for Lite to lose her mind.

If she were to list everything that had happened since they first met, it would take until sunset—Lite had endured all kinds of hardships and adversities.

On top of that, Lite was mentally unstable enough to attempt suicide frequently. So it was natural for her to lose her mind. It was actually impressive that she had held on until now.

Rebecca deeply regretted her past actions, but Lite had already completely lost it.

    ‘Can I really trust her?’

Rebecca had strong doubts about Lite, but she had no choice but to believe in her. After all, Lite was the only person who had succeeded in changing fate.

To put it bluntly, Lite was Rebecca’s only hope.

‘Please don’t change fate in a strange direction…’

With that thought, Rebecca belatedly entered the bank to prevent the worst-case scenario.

Inside the bank, which was filled with thick smoke, Leo and I started to form a temporary plan.

“I’ll take a hostage first. You hide nearby and act as a sniper.”

“But what if you fail to take a hostage? Innocent hostages might get hurt.”

    “Then we’ll use Plan B.”

    “Explain.”

“I’ll threaten to blow up the bank if they don’t surrender.”

Leo showed me about ten scrolls with magic circles drawn on them as he spoke.

    “Perfect.”

Excellent. It’s truly a flawless plan. Taking everyone here as hostages—why didn’t I think of that?

This way, the villains won’t be able to use hostages to threaten us; they’ll surrender obediently. After all, no matter what, one’s own life is precious.

    “Alright, let’s begin!”

After the signal was given, we each moved according to the plan.

First, I hid in a suitable spot. Then I quietly waited for the next signal.

As the fog completely cleared, I could see Agath sitting with the hostages.

    …?

Why do I see Agath instead of Leo? And why is she sitting with the hostages in the first place?

While I was desperately trying to understand this incomprehensible situation, Rebecca belatedly entered the bank.

    “…?”

And Rebecca also stood there bewildered, unable to understand the situation at all. Her reaction is exactly the same as mine.

In front of Rebecca, a person who appeared to be the leader showed up with a hostage.

“If you don’t want to see the hostage die, surrender quietly.”

    “Uh… what?”

“…Just go over to that corner. Then the hostage won’t have to die.”

    “Uh… okay.”

Rebecca obediently walked over to where Agath was.

“As expected of Rebecca! You came to save us!”

    “No, I got captured too.”

    …?

Doesn’t she have a plan to pretend to be captured and secretly save everyone? Did she really get captured?

“How on earth did you get captured by those villains?”

“I tried to take one of the villains hostage and create a hostage situation. But I mistakenly took a hostage as a hostage instead of a villain. So I surrendered quietly.”

“…Now I understand how Ms. Lite felt.”

Rebecca and I sighed almost simultaneously. Why is there no normal person in this office… Oh, we just got one.

Anyway, now only Leo and I are left. Somehow, the two of us need to overcome this situation…

    BOOM!

Suddenly, an explosion occurred in the ceiling, creating a large hole.

And Leo descended through that hole, landing lightly.

    ……?

“I’ve engraved magic circles throughout this bank. If you make any wrong move, I’ll blow up the bank.”

    ………?

    “How can we believe—”

As soon as the villain who looked like the leader stepped forward, Leo simply flicked his finger and said:

    “‘Terrifying and Huge Red Explosion'”

    —BOOM!

As if a spell with a strange name had been activated, an explosion occurred on the wall nearby.

“If you want, I can blow up this entire bank. How about it? Want to see?”

“But that would involve all the hostages too?”

    “…That’s right.”

    ……………?

Leo thought for a moment, then cheerfully said:

    “Okay, I surrender.”

“…Just go to that corner over there.”

    “Alright, good job.”

    ……………….?

“As expected of Leo! You came to save us!”

    “No, I got captured too.”

“Then we’ll have to wait for Lite. Want to play a card game in the meantime?”

Agath said as she pulled out a deck of playing cards from inside her clothes.

“Sure. But what game are we playing?”

    “How about Texas Hold’em?”

    “Sounds good.”

Leo and Agath were calmly preparing to play a card game despite being held hostage by villains.

I really can’t understand the situation at all.

“I’ll join too. Let’s say the loser buys lunch.”

And Rebecca also joined the card game as if she had reached enlightenment. Should I just go over there and ask to join them too?

I don’t know, I’ll just try to struggle a bit, and if it doesn’t work, I’ll surrender.

I casually approached the villain who looked like the leader from behind, pointed my gun at his head, and said:

“I’ve taken your leader hostage. If you don’t surrender quietly, your leader’s head will explode.”

I’m so unmotivated that I barely have the energy to speak. Let’s just end this quickly so I can go play card games too.

“Taking the boss hostage? You cowardly bastard!”

“Boss! Just wait! We’ll save you!”

    “…I let my guard down.”

Several villains shouted while glaring at me with fiery eyes.

Luckily, it seems I’ve actually taken the real leader hostage. Now I should start the hostage situation.

“Don’t be afraid! I’ve already prepared myself for death! So even if I die, resist until the end!”

    “But boss…”

“If you’re prepared to kill others, you should be prepared to die yourselves!”

The hostage ended up begging to be killed. This has completely failed. I guess I should prepare to join the card game too.

“So even if I die, until the end—”

    BANG!

    “AAAAARGH!”

When I shot the hostage in the leg, he screamed loudly.

“My ears hurt. Could you please be quiet?”

    “Crazy… bitch…”

“Thank you. Can I surrender now?”

    “…What?”

“I said I want to surrender.”

This way, we can end things nicely without a bloodbath. Well, a bloodbath has already happened. But still, isn’t this situation beneficial for both sides?

They can continue with their hostage situation like before. And I can go play card games.

No matter how I think about it, it’s a perfectly reasonable proposal.

“…If you were going to surrender, why did you shoot in the first place?”

“But it would be a waste, you know.”

I had already loaded the bullet, and it felt wrong to not use it and just throw it away. Once I convert it to a bullet, it doesn’t go back to normal.

It would be such a waste to lose 1% of my precious mana for nothing.

The villain just looked at me as if I were a strange person, unable to understand my rational judgment.

    “…Crazy bitch.”

    “So can I surrender now?”

“…Fine, just go to that corner over there.”

    “Thank you.”

Just as I was about to join the group and enjoy the card game, Agath tactlessly opened her mouth.

“Are you guys just going to watch while your boss is attacked? That girl ruined your boss’s leg! And the opponent is just one weak girl! Hurry up, subdue her and rape her to avenge your boss!”

At that, the villains began to stir.

“That’s right… we can’t just let someone who hurt the boss go.”

“But wasn’t she pretty? I think she’d be perfect if we just kept her mouth shut…”

“But avenging the boss comes first.”

As the atmosphere began to heat up, Agath poured oil on the fire.

“And she’s a virgin! A pure virgin with absolutely no sexual knowledge! Don’t you want to defile such a pure, blank-slate girl?”

Thanks to her, the villains were on the verge of rushing at me.

So I immediately converted 10% of my mana into a bullet and shot it at the wall.

    —BANG!

A hole larger than when I first fired at the department store appeared in the bank wall. Have I grown somehow?

Well, it doesn’t matter. It’s obvious that this won’t do much damage to the Demon King anyway.

    Anyway, I started threatening again.

“If you don’t want to see everyone die, please just let us go quietly.”

Ignoring my threat, a villain put a knife to a hostage and said:

“Hey, are you saying it’s okay if the hostage dies?”

And I aimed my gun at the villain and answered:

“Do you want to die along with the hostage? Or will you just let us go?”

“…Shall I escort you to your companions?”

“It’s okay. I’ll walk there myself.”

The villains, who surrendered to my overwhelming power, let me go obediently. Why didn’t they just do this from the beginning instead of trying to resist?

Anyway, I can finally join the card game.

As I went to the corner and joined the group, Agath said in a dejected tone:

“I wanted to see you being violently raped by the villains… what a shame…”

    BANG! BANG! BANG!

Once again, I turned my disgust into bullets and kept shooting at the wall until I calmed down.

After firing dozens of shots, I felt better, but the villains became wary of me.

I should explain quickly before a bloodbath occurs unnecessarily.

“Calm down. I was just a little angry, that’s all.”

“What does being angry have to do with shooting—”

“If you don’t want a bullet hole in your head, just accept it and move on.”

    “…Yes, ma’am.”

I thought it was a perfect explanation, but the villains were still wary of me.

Whatever. I just want to play card games.

While enjoying the card game, I suddenly heard a familiar voice.

“…Min-jun? What are you doing here?”

“Playing Texas Hold’em. Want to join?”

“…Can we talk for a moment?”

“Wait a bit, we’re almost done.”

The atmosphere was just heating up. It would be impolite to both sides to leave at a time like this.

So I sighed and continued the card game, leaving the bewildered Ju-an behind.
