Ch.27EP 1 Fenrir
by fnovelpia
There was a bit of commotion, but I was still able to fully achieve my goal of exploring the inside of the cathedral.
It was while I was aimlessly wandering the corridors of the cathedral.
I frowned and stopped in my tracks.
A subtly sweet scent wafted from beyond the window covered with wooden boards.
If my nose wasn’t mistaken, it was definitely the scent of humans.
“Humans, is it?”
Cheon-hwi also seemed to have caught the humans’ scent.
He poked just his head out from the shadows, sniffing with his nose.
When I quietly looked down at him, he startled and hid himself away.
I suppose this confirms our partially connected relationship?
Even without being told, he shows an aptitude for using vampire physical abilities.
Though he doesn’t seem to be conscious of it himself.
I carefully peered between the wooden boards.
The hole was too small for sunlight to enter, but I could see the outside world beyond.
The whole world was bright, announcing it was morning.
As I quietly watched the asphalt road glistening with the detestable sunlight, two humans were walking toward the cathedral.
There were only two humans.
No matter how much I looked around, I couldn’t find any other humans.
Why were they approaching this cathedral?
They weren’t carrying backpacks.
Nor were they particularly well-armed.
Their only weapons were a single pistol tucked at the waist and a long sword hanging on the back.
I headed to the first floor of the cathedral, just in case.
Rational humans wouldn’t try to stir up a vampire clan of over 50 with just two people, but it wouldn’t hurt to be prepared.
When I arrived at the first floor of the cathedral,
Mary was standing there holding a Bible.
It was truly ironic that a vampire priest was holding a Bible, but it suited her quite well nonetheless.
“Charlotte?”
“There are humans coming outside.”
“Ah, I know. You must have seen them.”
Mary only smiled brightly at the mention of humans coming.
She didn’t look tense at all.
Could they possibly be personal acquaintances?
I sat on the corridor railing with my arms crossed.
“Who are they?”
“They’re people who share their blood with us.”
Blood?
As I tilted my head in confusion, I noticed the red potions lined up behind Mary.
There were so many that it would be impossible to farm them alone.
No way.
At that moment, a quiet knock came from outside the cathedral door.
Knock knock-
Mary ran out with a bright smile as if she had been waiting for that knock.
Her running figure looked so delicate.
She said she was male before, but could that have been a lie?
“Welcome!”
As expected, the visitors were the human duo I had seen earlier.
Both wore faint smiles, suggesting they had pleasant personalities.
Just to be sure, I activated my Mystic Eye.
[RamiaFather]
Level: 15
Race: Human
HP: 100%
Mana: 100%
Emotional state: Calm.
[MapodongFishingKing]
Level: 16
Race: Human
HP: 100%
Mana: 100%
Emotional state: Calm.
Both had incredibly calm status windows.
Following Mary’s guidance, they entered the cathedral while chatting at the door.
Despite entering a vampire den, their emotional states remained unchanged.
The place they arrived at was, naturally, in front of the wide shelf where the red potions were placed.
There was also a large bowl to collect blood and a small dagger.
Were these two humans feeding all 50 vampires?
I watched them with my chin resting on my hand.
The two hadn’t noticed me yet.
“My goodness, you’ve gathered so much today…”
“Aren’t we going to collapse from anemia at this rate?”
MapodongFishingKing and RamiaFather joked with smiles.
Mary awkwardly smiled and bowed her head.
“Thank you for your help today as well.”
The human duo nodded at her words.
MapodongFishingKing picked up the dagger without hesitation and cut his arm.
His slightly furrowed expression suggested he still felt the pain.
The blood dripped steadily into the bowl.
After bleeding for quite some time, Mapodong seemed a bit dizzy and shook his head, then opened a small potion and poured it into his mouth.
His health quickly recovered.
Mapodong continued to bleed while drinking potions.
By the time he had emptied 20 bottles…
MapodongFishingKing let out a small groan and stepped back.
The wide bowl contained an incredible amount of blood, hard to believe it came from just one person.
Next was RamiaFather.
He too began bleeding without hesitation, just like Mapodong.
He only stopped after using all the remaining potions.
Although they had recovered all their health using potions, both men’s faces looked quite gaunt.
Their status windows showed no particular problems, but their physical condition hadn’t fully recovered.
“Thank you so much!”
Mary bowed deeply to express her gratitude.
Her large breasts bounced wildly with the movement of her upper body.
Mapodong and RamiaFather didn’t ask for anything special in return.
They just nodded with kind smiles.
After chatting briefly, they turned and left the cathedral.
I marveled at their retreating figures. How could such kind-hearted people exist in today’s world?
But could that amount really suppress the bloodlust of 50 vampires?
I stroked my chin while looking at the blood in the large bowl.
Though they had obtained quite a lot of blood through the sacrifice of those two people, the amount seemed woefully insufficient to me.
“Can you feed everyone with that?”
“It’s not enough…”
Mary sighed as she spoke.
She began transferring the blood from the large bowl into small bottles.
“What do you do about the shortage?”
Mary hesitated to answer my question.
But with a deep sigh, she finally spoke.
“We go hunting far away.”
“Hunting humans?”
“Yes… I’d prefer to get blood in exchange for potions, but potions have been hard to find lately.”
“Are those two the only people helping?”
“There were more… but they’ve all disappeared.”
“Not everyone helps, right?”
“Of course not… we are vampires after all.”
“What about other vampire clans?”
“They come and help occasionally too.”
“It’s strange how well you get along with those humans.”
“Ahaha…”
After my conversation with Mary ended.
As the hateful sun set and evening arrived, the cathedral became busy.
They were beginning to distribute the blood that had just come in.
Mary had divided the blood into small bottles to distribute to the children.
“Thank you!”
“Enjoy it, dear.”
“Thank you, Priest!”
“You’re up early today?”
“Sister Mary!”
“Not sister, but Priest.”
Mary began distributing small bottles while surrounded by vampires.
I watched the scene from the second floor with Hwang-gu and Aurel.
After some time had passed,
When the small bottles of blood were almost gone.
Mary looked around and tilted her head in confusion.
“Huh…?”
“Priest! VermouthSs is missing!”
“Is he oversleeping?”
“Did he go out somewhere?”
“I’ll drink VermouthSs’s share!”
Mary had prepared blood bottles according to the number of vampires in the cathedral.
Four small bottles remained.
The exact number of vampires I had made into my subordinates.
Mary came up to the second floor, preciously holding the bottles to her chest.
When she saw me, she bowed her head and spoke.
“Charlotte, have you seen VermouthSs?”
“VermouthSs?”
“Yes, the child who was hanging upside down from the cathedral ceiling yesterday…”
At that moment, the shadow at my feet began to squirm.
It seemed like VermouthSs, who had become my subordinate, was trying to reveal himself, but that wasn’t going to happen.
I extended my small, dainty foot and stomped on the shadow repeatedly.
“I haven’t seen him.”
“Hmm…”
Mary disappeared to the end of the corridor with a worried expression.
She seemed to be heading to the room where VermouthSs had been staying.
But there was no way the vanished VermouthSs would be there.
Eventually, Mary sighed and came back out to the corridor.
“Maybe he became independent?”
“Independent? That child?”
Mary tilted her head at my response.
Her long orange hair scattered softly.
“I wonder…”
Eventually, Mary headed back to the first floor.
With an expression that suggested she was wondering what to do with the four glass bottles in her possession.
Slither-
The shadow continued to squirm.
I bit my lip and jumped up and down on it.
“Stay still!”
Aurel watched this scene and asked worriedly.
“Charlotte, what are you doing…?”
I answered while stomping on the increasingly agitated shadow.
“I’m stepping on shadows.”
“I want to do it too!”
Apparently, Hwang-gu thought my actions looked fun.
With Hwang-gu joining in, we stomped on the shadow for quite some time until VermouthSs finally calmed down.
Now that the sun had set, I was thinking of leaving this place.
I headed to the first floor with Hwang-gu and Aurel.
“Priest.”
“Ah, Charlotte.”
“We’ll be going now.”
“Leaving already…?”
“Yes, I have business elsewhere.”
After saying goodbye, we left the cathedral.
VermouthSs in the shadow continued to squirm even then.
It seemed he didn’t understand what position he was in.
I stopped in my tracks and spat out all the children who were in the shadow.
Ptooey!
The mouth of a large shadow beast opened, and five girls came tumbling out.
All of them were cute girls who looked soft and warm.
“Ahhh! Finally out!”
VermouthSs and his friends stretched their arms and cheered as soon as they came out.
Of course, I didn’t just let them out for no reason.
It was to educate them about their new situation and to introduce them to Aurel and Hwang-gu.
I watched the children squirming on the shadow with my arms crossed.
This was my own shadow army.
“Gasp…!”
“Gasp…!”
Aurel and Hwang-gu wore startled expressions.
