Ch.26EP 1 Fenrir

After the conversation with Mary ended.

She guided us to a small room.

Since dawn would break soon, it was Mary’s consideration to let us take shelter from the sun for a while.

The place we arrived at was a bleak room with only a bed, desk, and a single chair sitting forlornly.

“I’m sorry… this is the only room available.”

“It’s fine. We won’t be staying long anyway.”

Mary left the room with a faint smile at my response.

As soon as Mary left, Aurel and Hwang-gu leaped toward the bed.

    “Yap!”

    “Huh!”

Seeing that no dust flew up even with the two children jumping around, I could tell the room was well-maintained.

Mary wasn’t as dangerous as I had worried.

Rather, she was a rare kind of adult these days.

I learned quite a lot through our conversation, and the most surprising thing was that most of the vampire users in this cathedral were minors.

The next surprising fact was that she had been a clergy member before becoming a vampire.

Of course, I had somewhat guessed this from her black formal attire and the white band around her neck.

Seeing that she wore the same clothes as before her transformation, she must have been a priest previously.

She showed no hesitation in revealing her past.

I fell into thought as I watched the children bouncing on the bed.

Mary had said that everyone had adapted to this world now.

That they had accepted their transformed selves and chosen to live that way.

She said everyone had given up on meaningless struggles that endangered their lives.

Of course, the main reason users made such choices was because of the powerful Fenrir.

“What are you thinking about so deeply?”

In the middle of my thoughts.

Cheon-hwi peeked his head out from the shadows and spoke to me.

He looked absolutely adorable, with no trace of his previous appearance.

“I’m thinking about how to return this world to normal.”

Cheon-hwi looked slightly surprised at my answer.

Then he squeezed out of the shadows with a whining sound.

Cheon-hwi, who had been stark naked, was now wearing a large T-shirt like a dress.

He seemed to have made clothes from shadows, but that appeared to be his limit.

I wondered where his crayon was, but he was still clutching it tightly in one hand.

“I’m surprised someone still thinks that way.”

Cheon-hwi said this while waddling around the room.

His movements seemed uncomfortable due to his shortened limbs.

All of Cheon-hwi’s movements looked awkward.

“Sigh… can I never return to my original form?”

Cheon-hwi muttered as if lamenting as he plopped down on the floor.

He still seemed unable to let go of his attachment to his former appearance.

Time passed and the sun rose in the sky.

Vampires who can walk outside in broad daylight are very rare.

Naturally, most vampires in the cathedral chose to shut themselves in their rooms.

The same was true for Aurel.

Lying on the bed with the blanket pulled over her, Aurel was hugging Hwang-gu tightly.

It was nice to see the two cute girls clinging to each other.

I sat at the table with my chin propped up, admiring the two girls.

Hwang-gu started nodding off while they embraced.

As Hwang-gu began to doze, Aurel also started nodding her head.

It didn’t take long for the two girls to fall into a deep sleep.

I left the room, leaving the two girls behind.

    “Where are you going?”

A voice called out as soon as I left the room.

Looking down, I saw Cheon-hwi peering up at me with his small head poking out.

“Just going to look around the cathedral a bit.”

    Cheon-hwi nodded at my words.

He seemed interested in the cathedral’s interior structure as well.

I walked around exploring the cathedral with Cheon-hwi.

There were no crosses, statues, or silver items to be seen.

They must have removed everything that vampires instinctively feel aversion to.

Well, they would have had to remove all those things for vampires to live here.

    After walking for some time.

A group of vampires began approaching from the far end of a pitch-dark corridor.

Their appearance seemed somehow familiar, and I realized they were the male vampires who had been hanging upside down from the cathedral ceiling earlier.

    Four in total.

They apparently had some business with me.

The vampires approached slowly and stopped in front of me.

Were all of these guys minors too?

As I looked up at them with a skeptical gaze, the vampire who had been hanging upside down suddenly placed his hand on the wall behind me and spoke.

    “What’s your name?”

    A low voice.

I could tell he was deliberately lowering his voice from the slight tremor at the end.

What the hell is this guy trying to do?

This vampire even had his eyes downcast.

As if he thought that expression made him look cool.

    “I’m Charlotte.”

    “Charlotte… I’m VermouthSs.”

The vampire who introduced himself as VermouthSs.

After VermouthSs finished his introduction, the other vampires beside him also began introducing themselves.

“Will you go out with me?”

VermouthSs suddenly blurted out a confession.

As I looked up at him with a distorted expression, he slowly continued.

“You’re going to stay here from today, right? It would be good to date me. I’m the strongest one here. I can get you more blood rations too.”

The other vampires began nodding at VermouthSs’s words.

The situation was so absurd that I wasn’t even angry.

“Do you know who I am?”

    “Charlotte, right?”

“No… do you know what kind of person I am?”

    “Does that matter?”

“I used to be a man.”

    “But you’re not anymore, right?”

VermouthSs asked as if my past appearance was irrelevant.

I was shocked by his words.

“So we’re officially a couple from today?”

Since I was too dumbfounded to answer, VermouthSs seemed to take my silence as acceptance of his proposal.

Smiling lightly, he reached out his hand toward me.

I grabbed his approaching hand and twisted his arm.

    Crack-!

    “Huh…?”

The arm twisted instantly, accompanied by an eerie sound.

When I released his arm, VermouthSs stared blankly at his dangling limb.

    “Ah, playing hard to get?”

VermouthSs is a vampire. The broken arm probably didn’t cause him much pain.

But to say such things even while looking at his dangling arm.

VermouthSs seemed determined not to come to his senses.

At that moment, I heard giggling from below.

Wondering what it was, I looked down to see Cheon-hwi peeking out with his head and laughing.

My head grows hot. The shadows begin to respond to my suddenly rising anger.

As the shadow extending from my feet surges greatly, all the shadows in the corridor undulate.

Mary had said that most of the vampires staying here were minors.

    It’s a mistake by children. It’s understandable.

My appearance is that of a small, cute girl after all.

If VermouthSs had looked like a small, cute girl like Aurel or Hwang-gu, I wouldn’t have gotten angry.

I would have smiled lightly and reasoned with him.

But VermouthSs looked like an adult man.

    I couldn’t tolerate that fact.

The form of a massive beast began to take shape, oozing out of the shadows.

The enormous beast thrashed nervously, as if reflecting my discomfort.

“Are you going to kill them?”

    “No.”

I shook my head at Cheon-hwi’s question.

I wasn’t going to kill them.

    Just.

I intended to help them become a little more docile.

    “Eat.”

The moment my command ended, the shadow opened its mouth wide and swallowed VermouthSs and his group.

Engulfed by the shadow, VermouthSs’s group began to resist strongly, but they couldn’t escape from within my shadow.

The difference between my power and theirs was too great.

How much time passed like that?

When VermouthSs’s group’s resistance had quieted down, the shadow beast spat out four eggs.

They looked like round, elongated eggs.

I tried it on a whim, and it seemed to work well even on vampires, my own kind.

    “Th-this is…!”

    “These are your friends.”

Cheon-hwi made a shocked expression at my kind explanation.

He seemed to know what was happening inside these large eggs.

Of course he would know. Cheon-hwi was also reborn from such an egg.

I waited with my arms crossed for the eggs to hatch.

    “Y-you cruel person…!”

Cheon-hwi ran frantically around the eggs with a pale blue face.

    After some time had passed.

Cracks began to form on the four large eggs.

    Crack-!

    Crack-crack!

What emerged from the cracked eggs were four small girls.

    “Hueek…”

    “Huaak…”

    “Hieek…”

    “Hieng…”

    The four girls collapsed weakly.

I activated my Mystic Eye to check VermouthSs’s information.

    [VermouthSs]

    Level: 11

    Race: Vampire (Charlotte’s Subordinate)

    Health 100%

    Mana 100%

    Emotional state: Confusion, Fear, Panic

VermouthSs was sprawled on the floor, drooling.

He didn’t seem to have realized what had happened to him yet.

VermouthSs had immediately confessed to me when he saw me.

It seemed his preference was for cute girls like Charlotte.

So I made him into one.

With an appearance similar to Charlotte, his preference.

    VermouthSs slowly began to rise.

After sitting up, VermouthSs staggered and collapsed back onto the floor.

    “Ueek…”

He couldn’t adapt to his changed center of gravity.

Blinking his large eyes, VermouthSs finally began to look at his palm.

The small, soft palm began to wiggle.

    “Huk…?”

Cheon-hwi silently turned his head away at the sight.

He seemed unable to continue watching VermouthSs and disappeared into the shadows.

    “H-how is this…”

VermouthSs began to panic as he saw his transformed appearance.

He felt his body with his tiny hands.

As he fumbled around checking his body, VermouthSs was shocked once more upon seeing his friends sprawled around him.

    “Huaak…!”

    “Do you like it?”

I hope he likes that appearance.

No, he must certainly like it.

I approached VermouthSs with a faint smile.

    “U-uaaaak!”

VermouthSs backed away in horror as I approached.

The shock he received inside the shadow must have been considerable.

I sighed and waved my hand.

At that moment, the four girls dissolved into the corridor shadows and disappeared.

They were reborn from my shadow like Cheon-hwi.

Being essentially the same as shadows, it was natural for them to return to shadow.

The noisy corridor instantly became quiet.
