Ch.269[Episode 269] We Have Rights Too.

“Phew. That was fun for a change.”

White Crow, forgive my transgression. Sir Dominic prayed to the White Crow in his heart.

The executive from Mountain Bridge Marsh was turning into gray powder, scattering in all directions.

Whether she would be banished or revived due to her relatively minor offense was uncertain, but at least for now, she was definitely dead.

What Sir Dominic had done was hardly befitting of a knight.

But then again, seeking chivalry while facing enemies was strange to begin with.

Chivalry only shines when one is not fighting.

Having thus deceived himself, Sir Dominic roughly shook the blood off his shield and stored away all his equipment.

“Y-you’re insane. Gacharland is rated for all ages. It’s not an 18+ or 22+ game.”

Sir Dominic looked at Magan, who had become gaunt in that short time.

Magan was currently in a state of great shock, apparently disgusted by Sir Dominic’s cruelty.

Indeed, Sir Dominic’s fear was quite understandable, as he was smiling unnervingly brightly with deep shadows cast on his face, backlit by the light.

Sir Dominic stared at Magan silently for a moment, then began approaching him.

The distance between Magan and Sir Dominic was only about five or six steps, so the gap between them closed instantly.

    “Eek!”

Until just now, Magan had been prepared to take a beating, but after witnessing Sir Dominic’s brutal actions, all that resolve had turned to scraps.

In Gacharland, death was an extremely cheap and common word, but sometimes people’s survival instincts forgot that fact.

Instead of steeling himself to take the beating with dignity like before, Magan was now curled up and trembling violently.

He was shedding tears and mucus while reflecting on his past actions.

Why had the Magan of the past lived so thoughtlessly, causing trouble for the Magan of the future?

Magan wished that if he could go back in time, he would strangle his past self.

Magan squeezed his eyes shut, anticipating the imminent violence.

However, no violent hand reached Magan.

Sir Dominic merely looked down at the trembling Magan and let out a silent sigh.

Several dozen minutes earlier, at a bench in the square in front of the Black Company.

The Kanku Warrior said to Sir Dominic:

“Could you perhaps beat my son like a dog on a hot summer day? To bring him back to his senses.”

Sir Dominic silently looked at the Kanku Warrior.

The Kanku Warrior’s eyes were so straightforward that Sir Dominic could tell he was serious.

However, Sir Dominic was a knight.

Although helping those in trouble was part of chivalry, he could not condone harming others.

Sir Dominic opened his mouth to politely decline, but the Kanku Warrior spoke faster.

“To be precise, I’m not really asking you to beat him. Just scaring him would be enough.”

The Kanku Warrior added some explanation when he sensed Sir Dominic might refuse.

“My son, Magan, is a very timid child. He’s been so timid that we’ve coddled him since he was young. That’s why he doesn’t know the bitterness of the world and acts so recklessly.”

“Of course, that’s just my opinion. Others might think differently,” the Kanku Warrior added.

“Anyway, since he’s timid, just a little scare will bring him back to normal. Then I’ll take him and show him the bitter taste of society properly. I plan to make him work under me and teach him that rights come with responsibilities and obligations.”

Sir Dominic nodded at the Kanku Warrior’s words.

If it was just scaring him, that was within the range of help Sir Dominic could provide.

Sir Dominic pondered the newly changed proposal and then gave an affirmative answer.

“Very well. I will help you.”

The Kanku Warrior’s face brightened at Sir Dominic’s words.

“Thank you. The reward will not disappoint you.”

Sir Dominic rose from his seat.

He intended to go find the Kanku Warrior’s son, Magan.

“Wait! Before you go, I have something to say.”

Before Sir Dominic left, the Kanku Warrior said this:

“My son seems to have borrowed suspicious money from somewhere. So they might approach him. When that happens, be sure to say you’ll beat him like a dog.”

    “Why?”

“It’s a strategy to make my son a little less endangered. If even his father has given up on him, the people approaching my son might let their guard down.”

    “I’ll keep that in mind.”

Sir Dominic nodded at the Kanku Warrior’s words and walked toward the protesters.

This was the full story behind why Sir Dominic, who seemed unlikely to be involved in any violent incident, had come to beat Magan.

Sir Dominic silently looked down at Magan.

Magan continued to tremble and curl up, not knowing when he would be hit.

This makes me look like the bad guy, Sir Dominic thought.

Of course, to outside observers, Sir Dominic looked sufficiently suspicious, evil, and truly like the incarnation of evil, but unfortunately, there was nothing reflective in this alley for Sir Dominic to realize this fact.

    Sir Dominic sighed.

He had already dealt with the riffraff attached to Magan, and now all that remained was to take Magan to the Kanku Warrior.

He thought about trying to speak to him, but Magan’s state was far from conversational, so Sir Dominic hoisted Magan up and left the alley.

All he needed to do was somehow get Magan to the Kanku Warrior, he thought.

“C-couldn’t you end it here? Why are you changing locations if you’re going to beat me anyway?”

Of course, unaware of this, Magan misunderstood that Sir Dominic was taking him to his secret base to inflict thorough violence.

“Thank you. Thank you so much.”

The Kanku Warrior welcomed his safely returned son and expressed his gratitude to Sir Dominic.

When Magan returned with all limbs intact, the Kanku Warrior hugged him and wept profusely.

The Kanku Warrior comforted Magan, saying it was commendable that he had returned regardless of his wrongdoings.

Magan was initially at a loss when he saw the Kanku Warrior, but soon tears welled up at the Kanku Warrior’s actions.

Of course, regardless of whether the Kanku Warrior forgave him or not, he would now begin his ascetic practice—no, work—to understand the value of money, but right now the father and son were filled with emotion.

“This is a reward for saving my son.”

The Kanku Warrior handed Sir Dominic a piece of paper.

Taking the paper, Sir Dominic read what was written on it, and his eyes widened as soon as he read the first sentence.

    “A building? You’re giving me a building?”

Sir Dominic’s voice trembled in surprise at the Kanku Warrior’s generous reward.

“That building was in a situation where it needed to be sold due to tax issues anyway.”

The Kanku Warrior said this as if to ease Sir Dominic’s burden.

“As you’ll see, it’s not a building in Gacharland. If it were a Gacharland building, it would be expensive and burdensome, but land prices are very cheap there, so don’t worry.”

Sir Dominic read the writing on the paper more carefully at the Kanku Warrior’s words.

Indeed, the building was located in a place called Tycoon City, not Gacharland.

“I’ll tell my lawyer who manages that building, and he’ll help you with the details. Personally, I recommend renting it out to receive resources every quarter.”

The Kanku Warrior even passed on some tips to Sir Dominic.

“…Even so, I cannot accept such a large reward.”

Sir Dominic was momentarily tempted by this enormous reward, but it was so large that it became burdensome.

“You saved my son. If you think of it as the price of my son’s life, it’s not enough even if I gave you more.”

“Please forgive me for not giving more, as I have to pay off the 350 million Gacha Stone debt my son incurred,” said the Kanku Warrior.

“Then is there nothing I can help you with? The reward is so large that my mind is unsettled. If I could be of some help, I think I would feel a bit more at ease.”

At those words, the Kanku Warrior pondered for a moment.

Then the Kanku Warrior opened his mouth.

Sir Dominic was currently on his way to a loan company called Mass Production.

To be precise, he was going to pay off the debt that Magan had incurred.

Recently, in response to Sir Dominic’s desire to be helpful, the Kanku Warrior had asked if he could help with one more thing.

Sir Dominic readily accepted the Kanku Warrior’s request, having already received a substantial reward.

‘Magan will now have to help me with my work, and I’ll be busy finding a job for him. So could you pay off the debt on our behalf?’

The Kanku Warrior then handed Sir Dominic a leather pouch containing 350 million Gacha Stones.

‘…What if I run away with this money?’

‘I trust Sir Dominic. With Sir Dominic’s reputation, everyone knows you would never do such a thing.’

    Sir Dominic sighed.

    The man was right.

Sir Dominic, who turned into a mad dog in battle but was otherwise faithful to chivalry, could not refuse this father and son’s request.

That’s why Sir Dominic was now visiting the loan company Mass Production, carrying a leather pouch containing 350 million Gacha Stones.

Sir Dominic stood in front of the building where Mass Production was located and slowly raised his head.

He could see the Mass Production sign on the fourth floor of the building.

After gazing at that sign for a moment, Sir Dominic soon made his way toward the Mass Production office.
