After going through various miscellaneous tasks, we somehow managed to reach the vicinity of Avalon Fortress.

    To grasp detailed information about the fortress, I immediately opened my status window to check Avalon Fortress’s information panel.

    —————————————-

    <Avalon Fortress-Space Station>

    <Lv. 5>

    <Type: Space Fortress>

    <Defense Force Status>

    ˪<Guard Fleet x25>

    ˪<Fortress Combat Fleet x50>

    <Fleet Composition Table>

    <Guard Fleet Composition>

    ˪<Battleship 1, Light Cruiser 45, Destroyer 250, Escort Ship 1,300>

    <Fortress Combat Fleet Composition>

    ˪<Battleship 10, Heavy Cruiser 50, Destroyer 500>

    <Fortress Comprehensive Defense System Status: Normal>

    <tip: Cities and fortresses are basically in a non-aggression state. Fleets will deploy when damaged by direct attacks.>

    <Warning!>

    ˪<When approaching too close to the fortress, guard fleets and fortress combat fleets will deploy immediately!>

    —————————————-

    ‘This is tricky.’

    As always, it was that very ambiguous information panel that ended its explanation at just the right level of vagueness.

    But through that, I could understand what method was needed to siege this damn base city.

    “There’s only one thing we need to do—we must absolutely prevent those damned fortress combat fleets from coming out.”

    “How do you plan to stop them?”

    And what was that method?

    “I won’t give you any further detailed explanation.”

    “Oh, come on.”

    If I continued explaining here, it somehow felt like I’d be acting like an exposition dump.

    Rather than giving Jessica additional explanations, I decided to tackle the fortress using the method I’d worked out through my brain CPU.

    Of course, having already dropped hints and then refusing to explain before the operation…

    I might have to deal with Jessica’s whining disguised as questions throughout the battle.

    So I gave one simple answer to the puzzled Jessica.

    “I’m kidding. In this operation, Neranzara will truly be the key point.”

    “Huh.”

    And figuring this was sufficient as an answer, I decided to now genuinely begin attacking the <Avalon Fortress>.

    ==========

    Meanwhile, at the same time.

    In the gallery that Icarus had been too busy to check, there were many users eagerly watching his city assault.

    And it’s not even some crappy level 1 or 2 outpost, but a level 5 city-class fortress he’s trying to attack

    True alpha male move RESPECT

    -[Is this for real?]

    Title: Breaking) 3rd-ranked fleet now seems to be officially starting invasion

    Author: Broadcast-Gay

    Content: [Video showing Icarus’s fleet approaching the city and deploying formation]

    Damn this popcorn’s gonna taste good

    Super excited to see how he’ll fight

    Comments:

    -[Thanks to the mercenary corps, he has tons of battleships and battle cruisers, won’t he use those for a long-range sniping battle?]

    -[Wouldn’t it be normal to start by teleporting the Kraken and launching strategic missiles first?]

    -˪[How high do you think the city’s armor durability is? It’s way tougher than our bases in the settings]

    -[Won’t he first engage in preliminary battles with carrier-based aircraft, then methodically grind down each fleet one by one?]

    -˪[But then how will he handle the carrier-based aircraft coming from the fortress hangar and the combat fleet that comes out after the guard fleet is defeated?]

    -˪[Dunno? That’s something Icarus himself will have to figure out]

    -˪[Hmm, can’t argue with that logic]

    —————————————–

    And they weren’t just watching—since each user was a player commander who had to operate their own fleet.

    Throughout the gallery, users were conducting their own analyses of how Icarus would try to attack the city “alone.”

    And shortly after…

    —————————————–

    Title: Oh he’s starting with missile spam

    Author: Anonymous

    Content: [gif of massive missiles being fired from Hresvelgr and 50,000 ships]

    Magnificent

    Comments:

    -[Nice, my guess was right]

    -[Darn, I got it wrong]

    —————————————–

    Including 12 strategic missiles launched from the Hresvelgr-class arsenal ship platform.

    Hundreds of thousands of missiles fired simultaneously from all ships except aircraft carriers left long white trails as they advanced.

    They literally “annihilated” one of the fortress’s guard fleets that was permanently stationed outside, then crashed haphazardly into the fortress’s outer armor plating.

    -KWAAANG! KWAANG!

    -PUUUNG! KWANG!

    -BOOOOOOM!

    As the sudden surprise attack from beyond the fortress radar’s detection range began destroying the fortress’s external defense systems with indiscriminate bombardment.

    Some users who understood the situation from videos posted almost in real-time by other users in galleries and chat rooms immediately boasted about their foresight.

    But that was short-lived.

    Unlike one guard fleet whose ships were literally “annihilated,” the remaining ships were stationed inside the base’s hangars.

    Title: The guard fleets coming out look like a disturbed beehive

    Author: Anonymous

    Content: [Massive numbers of guard fleet ships emerging from hidden hangars as the fortress becomes a sea of fire from missile and torpedo bombardment]

    Wow

    How many are there damn

    Comments:

    -[Considering the level 5 fortress guard fleet strength, just calculating what’s coming out now, there’s at least 24 battleships]

    -˪[You have to add the rest too, there are over 1,000 light cruisers and over 6,000 destroyers]

    -˪[What about escort ships?](Author)

    -˪[Each guard fleet has about 1,300 escort ships, so probably over 30,000?]

    -˪[Oh damn]

    -[Hey, interceptors are also pouring out of the hangars all at once]

    -[That’s disgusting]

    -[That’s an Earth Federation style base, if it were Monster style it would be truly horrifying]

    -˪[Flying cockroaches?]

    -˪[Yep]

    —————————————–

    As the gallery reactions showed, it was literally like disturbing a “beehive.”

    Not only were the remaining 24 guard fleets pouring out in droves.

    But hundreds of thousands of interceptors were also emerging through the remaining hangars and catapults, except for those destroyed by the surprise missile bombardment.

    Users could see with their own eyes just how terrifying the scale of a city’s defense forces truly was.

    Novice users who witnessed this frightening scale expressed shock, wondering if Icarus’s fleet would be shredded at this rate.

    However…

    Title: The funniest thing about this battle.txt

    Author: Anonymous

    Content: [gif of guard fleets pouring out and engaging in artillery battle with Icarus’s fleet]

    Newbies are freaking out about how many guard fleets are coming out

    The interceptors make the numbers look inflated

    In reality, they’re fewer than the mercenary fleet Icarus brought lolololol

    Comments:

    -[Oh, that’s true]

    -[Big bro has it all figured out]

    -[Winning a numbers battle against a city, what the hellㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ]

    -[RESPECT]

    —————————————–

    As another gallery analysis post showed.

    The bizarre reality was that Icarus’s fleet actually had numerical superiority, so most experienced users weren’t particularly worried about the situation.
