Ch.266[Episode 266] We Have Rights Too.

Sir Dominic had faced countless incidents, but this was the first time he felt such fear.

When fighting against demons in Feralante, even when pushed to a disadvantage, Sir Dominic had smiled.

When he first encountered a bug after arriving in Gacha Land, when fighting alone against dozens on the battlefield, when facing hundreds of gazes at the hearing, Sir Dominic had remained dignified.

When he saw people rushing in after registering his cards at the card pack exchange, when facing the human wave at Mountain Bridge Marsh, Sir Dominic’s spirit had endured.

Sir Dominic’s strong mental fortitude was solid enough to withstand all of that.

One could be certain that even if he fell into hell, Sir Dominic’s mind would remain clear and his attitude dignified, but…

“Don’t you know 10+1 is better than 1+1? 11 is bigger than 2!”

“Um, what profit is there in selling at regular price?”

“One should make a living through honest gacha, not through the cowardice of hard work!”

Conversely, Sir Dominic could assert that the scene before his eyes was more horrifying than hell.

At least hell had not yet shaken Sir Dominic’s firm mind, but the scene before him had accomplished that difficult feat.

Sir Dominic sat down on a nearby bench, dazed by this terrifying sight.

It seemed this mental shock would not heal easily.

As Sir Dominic sat there blankly, someone approached him.

The man wore a cylindrical, ornate hat and layered silk clothes, with a total of sixteen rings on both hands.

Stroking his stylishly curled black beard, he sighed and sat down next to Sir Dominic.

    “…?”

Sir Dominic looked at the black-bearded man who had suddenly appeared.

The black-bearded man was sighing heavily like Sir Dominic, as if also in panic, when he suddenly seemed to notice Sir Dominic’s gaze and turned to meet his eyes.

“…Ah! My apologies. I see there was someone here first.”

The black-bearded man spoke in an old-fashioned manner, but for some reason his voice was full of vigor rather than antiquated.

“Might you perhaps be related to that protest group?”

The black-bearded man abruptly asked Sir Dominic.

    Sir Dominic shook his head.

He had merely come to see what the gathering was about; Sir Dominic had nothing to do with the protest.

    “That is fortunate, then.”

The black-bearded man stroked his beard with his right hand.

The eight jeweled rings on his right hand combed through his beard like a brush.

Sir Dominic and the black-bearded man sat on the bench without speaking.

Sir Dominic had lost his words from the shock of the scene before him, and the black-bearded man seemed to be in a similar situation.

    An extremely awkward silence.

The one who broke this silence was the black-bearded man.

“Well, since we’ve met by chance, shall we introduce ourselves? I am Kanku Musa.”

    “…Sir Dominic of Feralante.”

When Kanku Musa extended his hand, Sir Dominic responded with his name and shook hands.

“Sir Dominic of Feralante. That sounds familiar… Ah. Are you perhaps the very person who caused that card pack commotion?”

“I’m not sure if it should be called a commotion, but it’s true they sold quite well.”

Sir Dominic nodded at Kanku Musa’s words.

Kanku Musa then beamed with a bright smile.

“Wow, to think I’d meet a celebrity of Gacha Land!”

    “Celebrity?”

“With decent specs, plenty of money, and popularity, isn’t it appropriate to call you a celebrity? May I ask for your autograph?”

Kanku Musa handed Sir Dominic a piece of paper.

Taking the paper mindlessly, Sir Dominic suddenly realized something was written on it.

    “…This is a modeling contract.”

“Oh my! I’ve been found out.”

Kanku Musa laughed heartily and handed over a new piece of paper.

Before returning the contract to Kanku Musa, Sir Dominic noticed a few words, particularly “Mali Trading Company” which caught his eye.

“Do you work for Mali Trading Company?”

“My, you even figured that out. Perhaps we are destined to meet.”

Kanku Musa joked as he introduced himself more thoroughly to Sir Dominic.

“I am Kanku Musa, owner of Mali Trading Company. All those large buildings you see over there belong to me.”

Kanku Musa pointed from the far left to the far right of where the protesters were gathered.

Sir Dominic looked where Kanku Musa was pointing.

The area Kanku Musa indicated contained dozens of buildings competing in height, their exteriors gleaming with golden light.

“It’s nothing compared to the Black Company, but I pride myself on being a self-made rich man in Gacha Land.”

Kanku Musa puffed out his chest and thumped his left chest with his right fist.

He was clearly proud of his achievements.

“Why would such a person be sighing?”

Sir Dominic recalled how Kanku Musa had been continuously sighing until just now.

“You seem to have nothing to envy in the world.”

“Well, naturally it’s because of those protesters. I should say I have a direct connection…”

Kanku Musa sighed deeply at Sir Dominic’s words and pointed at the protesters.

The protesters were still raging, having lost all reason.

“Is it because they’re disrupting your business?”

Sir Dominic drew his own conclusion.

“Well, that’s not wrong, but it’s only a small part of it.”

Kanku Musa said while stroking his beard.

“Actually, my son is among those protesters.”

    “Your son?”

Kanku Musa looked toward the protesters with wistful eyes.

“In truth, my son was diligent and kind-hearted. He had a talent for business like me and knew how to be generous to others.”

“Do you know about those who give potions to Newbies? My son was the pioneer of that practice. That’s how kind and gentle his personality was.”

Kanku Musa smiled faintly, remembering his son from the past.

But soon that smile turned into a sigh.

“But that cursed gacha was the problem. At some point, he started getting into gacha. What did he call it? Wanting to become a pioneer? At first, he at least had a purpose. I thought he just had a strong sense of adventure like me. That was my mistake.”

    Kanku Musa sighed again.

“My son took his first step as a pioneer. There was no problem up to that point. But what came next was the issue. He pulled a 5-star card from the pioneer support pack… and it was an incredibly beautiful woman!”

“At first he was happy about his good luck, but afterward my son began to change. He spared no expense for that 5-star beauty card installed on his android, and later he even started pulling skin gachas, saying he wanted to try all the outfits in the world. Those expensive skins! By the time I found out, he already owned over 270 skins.”

Oh my. Sir Dominic exhaled in dismay.

To pull so many skins that cost almost 2,000 Gacha Stones each at regular price.

Moreover, since he said his son had started getting into gacha, they probably weren’t purchased at regular price.

As if reading Sir Dominic’s thoughts, Kanku Musa nodded and continued.

“As you might have guessed, that boy tried skin gacha. At first, he thought 2,000 Gacha Stones was too expensive, so he did the 10-pull for 1,880 Gacha Stones. But when no decent outfits appeared, he kept pulling more to at least break even, and then more… Later, when he was completely far from breaking even, he thought, ‘I’ve already invested so much money here, so a little more won’t hurt.'”

“By the time I found out and went to give him a stern talking-to, he had already spent tens of millions of Gacha Stones. And he’d even borrowed suspicious money from somewhere…”

Kanku Musa looked at the protesters with bitter eyes.

“Actually, today I was in the middle of bringing my son home to persuade him. ‘I’ll pay off your debts, so come work under me again,’ I said. He outwardly agreed, but seeing him riot like that at the news of reduced gacha in the update, he was probably planning to pull gacha behind my back.”

Kanku Musa let out what must have been his umpteenth sigh.

“Others who saw my son and sympathized with his ideology began to gather. One by one they assembled, and it escalated into this large-scale protest.”

Kanku Musa pointed to a dark-skinned person at the very front of the protesters.

“That one at the front holding the megaphone is my son.”

Sir Dominic looked at Kanku Musa.

Kanku Musa wore a bitter expression and kept sighing.

“I don’t know what to do with my son. If only he would listen, even if I had to beat him…”

Kanku Musa muttered to Sir Dominic, still unable to take his eyes off his son.

“Come to think of it, I was too soft-hearted to hit my son. Perhaps I spoiled him too much, which is why he turned out like this. He might really need a beating.”

Kanku Musa looked at Sir Dominic.

His expression was still bitter, but his eyes contained a certain resolve.

“Could you perhaps beat my son like a dog on a hot summer day? So that he might come to his senses.”

Sir Dominic silently looked at Kanku Musa.

The resolve in Kanku Musa’s eyes remained unwavering.
