Ch.265Chapter 265 – The Repairman Fixes the Magic Tower
by fnovelpia
“Thank you for saving us! Great Mage Regina!”
The mages showed dazed expressions at the unexpected appearance of Regina noona.
However, they quickly regained their composure and politely expressed their gratitude to her.
“No need for thanks.”
Though the mages expressed their gratitude, Regina noona responded as if she had merely done her duty.
If it had been an ordinary person, it might have been different, but since Regina noona was still called a Great Mage by the mages, they seemed to take it as a matter of course.
Regina noona was currently not focused on the mages but was carefully examining the wounds on my body.
“Does anyone here have a potion?”
While closely examining my injuries, Regina noona suddenly asked if anyone had a potion.
The wounds weren’t serious enough to require a potion, but judging by her eyes, even the smallest scratch seemed like a fatal injury to her.
“A potion, you say?”
“Can’t you see someone is injured here?”
“Ah, yes! I’ll bring one right away! Hey, does anyone have a potion? The Great Mage is asking for one!”
When Regina noona asked for a potion, the mages hurriedly began searching their pockets.
“Um, noona? Do we really need to use a potion…?”
“Stay still. If the wound gets worse, you’ll have scars on your face and arms.”
Actually, it wouldn’t matter if we didn’t use a potion, but Regina noona seemed determined to use one.
No matter how much I insisted I was fine, she seemed unwilling to change her mind.
“Sigh. Alright. Do as you please, noona.”
I reluctantly decided to give in.
I knew the reason she wanted to treat me with a potion was because she was worried about me.
“H-here’s a potion!”
“Is its effectiveness guaranteed?”
“Yes, yes! The effectiveness is guaranteed! It’s from an alchemy workshop run by a state-certified alchemist!”
Regina noona finally nodded with a satisfied smile.
“Good. Thank you for your hard work. Now go check the damage situation with the other mages.”
“Yes! Great Mage!”
The mage who brought the potion hurriedly ran off and squeezed into the group of mages who were having a serious discussion.
“Now, let me apply the potion.”
“I-I can apply it myself…”
“Hey! Are you going to disobey your noona?”
“…No.”
Overwhelmed by Regina noona’s forceful presence, I had no choice but to quietly submit to her care.
While she was applying the potion all over my body, I whispered to her.
‘Noona. Cheonhyeryeong doesn’t know about this, right?’
‘She doesn’t know, why?’
‘I’m afraid if she finds out, she might destroy the magic tower even after it’s rebuilt.’
‘Ah…’
Regina noona seemed to understand what I was trying to say.
‘Alright. Let’s not tell her for now.’
‘No, we should tell her. She might get even angrier if she finds out later.’
‘I’ll handle that.’
I wasn’t entirely convinced by Regina noona’s assurance that she would handle it, but if she was someone who could make that celestial demon call her “unnie,” perhaps it was possible.
Anyway, just as the treatment was nearly complete, Jern approached where noona and I were.
“Great Mage Regina. Thank you for saving me and my comrades of the magic tower.”
“I didn’t do it to receive thanks, so skip the gratitude. More importantly, I’d like an explanation of what happened that caused the magic tower to completely collapse.”
Regina noona was smiling as she spoke, but judging by the black aura rising behind her, she seemed quite angry.
Her presence was so intimidating that the onlookers and the mages of the tower were visibly trembling under her pressure.
“Well, you see…”
Jern, realizing he needed to calm the situation before Regina noona became angrier, hastily continued speaking.
After Jern’s lengthy 30-minute explanation, Regina noona’s response was…
“Could you summarize it briefly and concisely?”
Since she asked for a one-line summary, Jern, who was inferior in both experience and magical ability, had no choice but to nod.
“It seems the immature ones at the magic tower caused an accident while experimenting again.”
“Is that so? Well, those involved in the accident must be dead, so there’s nothing to be done. I was going to punish them myself if they were alive.”
When the word “punish” came out of Regina noona’s mouth, I saw Jern flinch.
Seriously, how scary must she be to make him react like that?
“Noona. Could you come with me for a moment? I need to talk with Jern.”
“Talk?”
“Yes.”
As I approached, noona lowered her intimidating aura and looked at me as if wondering what I wanted to discuss.
I stepped forward and stood in front of Jern.
“Jern. How long do you think it will take to rebuild the magic tower?”
“At least a year, I’d say. Building a structure over 20 floors high is no simple task.”
Considering the technology here, building 20 floors in about a year must be quite fast.
“Hmm. Is that so?”
“Yes. It takes about half a year just to recreate the core stone, which is the heart of the magic tower. Once the core stone is made, the actual reconstruction won’t take much time.”
“So, true to its name, the magic tower is built using magic.”
“That’s right. The magic tower is built with magic.”
So the magic tower is built using magic.
Wow, I hadn’t thought of that.
I was momentarily stunned by the revelation that the tower was built with magic, but anyway, that wasn’t what I wanted to discuss.
“Is there any risk of further collapse at the site of the tower’s ruins?”
“No. The core stone was destroyed when the tower collapsed. Currently, there are no traces of magic or mana flow observed at the site of the collapse.”
I walked with Jern to the place where the magic tower had collapsed.
The site where the massive tower once stood was now littered with stone fragments that appeared to be building debris.
Seeing the rubble piled as high as a three-story building, I understood that the magic tower had a more hollow structure than I had thought.
“Do you happen to have a hammer?”
“A hammer? Do you need it for sample testing?”
“Something like that.”
Actually, that’s a lie.
I’m not planning to test samples; I want to repair the magic tower with my ability.
However, I need a hammer to use my ability, which is why I asked for one.
“Hey! Can someone get a hammer?”
“I have one!”
When Jern asked for a hammer, one of the mages pulled out a small hammer from a pouch attached to his waist.
“It’s a hammer used for sample testing. We use it to break magic stones or split minerals.”
“Thank you. Now…”
I stood up and approached the site of the collapsed magic tower.
People wondered what I was going to do, but Regina noona was the only one who seemed to understand my intentions, smiling knowingly.
I looked at Regina noona, and she nodded.
It was a silent approval to use my ability to fix the magic tower.
With that, I stood in front of the ruins, imagining encompassing the entire tower, and struck the rubble three times with the hammer.
—Tap, tap, tap.
After the three dull impact sounds of metal hitting stone, a pillar of light shot up into the sky from where the magic tower had stood.
“W-what’s happening?”
“What’s going on?”
People fell back in surprise as a pillar of light formed at the site of the magic tower and surged toward the sky as if to split it.
…Wait, this doesn’t usually happen elsewhere, so why is the effect so flashy here?
This is embarrassing, especially with so many people gathered around.
“Oh, ohh!”
But that was only momentary, as both my eyes and those of the people around me could see the magic tower gradually taking shape within the pillar of light.
“The magic tower, the magic tower is being rebuilt!”
The fragments on the ground rose one by one into the air, returning to their original form.
If even I, who created this phenomenon, am excited, how must the people who know nothing about it feel?
When the magic tower was completely restored, the pillar of light vanished as suddenly as it had appeared.
And what remained was a massive 20-story tower gleaming in ivory.
“The magic tower…”
“To think it would actually be restored…”
The mages of the tower were astonished to see the magic tower rebuilt.
How surprised they must have been to witness something impossible even with magic happen with just three strikes of my hammer.
“Everyone! From now on, let’s call this the Severio Magic Tower!”
Jern, seemingly moved by the tower’s restoration, proposed naming the tower after my surname.
“Agreed!”
“I second that motion!”
“Hurrah! Long live Viscount Severio!”
And all the mages of the tower unanimously accepted Jern’s proposal with cheers.
Well, everyone seems happy, so that’s good.
Another peaceful day passes in Archenium.
