For a while, I had almost completely stopped caring about the Magic Tower.

Rather than stressing myself out by worrying about people who claimed they didn’t need my help, I found it healthier for my mental state to cut off my concern entirely.

Besides, there weren’t many students at the Academy anyway due to the start of vacation.

The only ones remaining here were students diligently studying and training in preparation for graduation.

I kept the repair shop open even during the break so they could focus solely on their training.

“Your equipment is fully repaired. Train hard.”

    “Thank you, Marquis.”

Just now, another student left the repair shop with a happy expression, carrying their repaired equipment.

This student, too, had chosen graduation rather than completion.

I heard they were skilled enough to infuse aura into their sword, but the damage to their weapon had been quite severe.

It wasn’t just chips in the blade—the sword’s body also had numerous large and small wounds.

Regarding this, Cheon Hyeryeong had explained, “Since sword energy manifests literally as energy in the form of a sword, unskilled use will cause damage to the actual sword.”

She added that as one’s proficiency with sword energy increases, the damage to the sword naturally decreases, and when one reaches the level where no damage occurs at all, it means they’ve mastered sword energy perfectly.

Of course, this student wasn’t the only one who handled their weapon roughly.

‘Students who chose graduation have higher rates of equipment damage than those who chose completion.’

Mina and Elena were also staying to train, and their equipment had come in quite damaged as well.

“…Wait, did you two just come back from some kind of war?”

    “Well… it’s unavoidable during training…”

They claimed it happened during training, but their equipment looked like it belonged to soldiers who had returned from fierce battles on the battlefield, covered in wounds everywhere.

“What kind of training leaves your equipment in such terrible condition?”

“W-well… there was a bit of an accident during our experiments…”

Elena stammered nervously, but that wasn’t what concerned me.

“Please always be careful not to injure yourselves during training.”

I was only worried that they might get hurt during training and become unable to continue.

Anyway, since then, the two seemed to be training more carefully, as the condition of their equipment had improved significantly.

It was a bit disappointing that I couldn’t leave my post even during vacation, but I was someone who lived at the Academy anyway…

I had no hometown to return to, and I wasn’t particularly fond of traveling. I could spend all day rolling around in bed if that’s what I was told to do.

Today too, after finishing repairs, I locked up the shop and headed to my quarters.

Originally, I had been staying in a separate space next to Regina’s office at the top floor of the Paper Tower, but after Cheon Hyeryeong arrived and space became cramped, I moved to new quarters.

The Glesius Academy originally had a separate mansion built for the Chancellor’s commute.

However, due to various unfortunate circumstances, Regina had been forced to stay in the Chancellor’s office.

But now, not only did we have Cheon Hyeryeong as a new family member, but more importantly, Regina had returned to her normal body, making outside activities possible.

So from today, we decided to stay in the Chancellor’s exclusive mansion.

The room next to the Chancellor’s office was equivalent to a two-room apartment on Earth, which was definitely quite cramped.

As I was passing through the Academy’s main building after leaving the Paper Tower, I received an alert on my Student Management Window.

    “Huh?”

Surprised by the sudden alert, I opened the Student Management Window to check what it was.

[A letter has arrived from the Archenium Magic Tower.]

    The Archenium Magic Tower.

That was the place where Cheon Hyeryeong and I had gone to retrieve documents at Regina’s request.

It was also the place where repair magic was continuously being used to prevent the collapse of structures due to failed magical experiments.

Most importantly, they had rejected my offer to fix their tower.

I had been ignoring them for a while, so why would they suddenly send a letter?

    What could they possibly want?

I headed to the Academy’s post office to receive the letter.

“Ah, Marquis. I was just about to contact you.”

When I arrived at the Academy’s post office, an employee recognized me and greeted me.

“I heard a letter arrived for me.”

“Yes, here it is. I pulled it out in advance, thinking you might come.”

    Oh, very efficient indeed.

I took the letter from the employee and headed back to the mansion.

I greeted students I met along the way, and after walking for about 10 minutes, the mansion where I would be living from now on finally came into view.

Built in a typical Victorian style, the mansion displayed its splendor right from the entrance.

Though it didn’t match Regina’s taste, she hadn’t made any changes because nobles often subtly display their power and authority through such grandeur.

For me too, the elaborate patterns and decorations everywhere made it slightly overwhelming, but wouldn’t a Marquis be expected to live in such a mansion?

If a noble of Marquis rank were living in an unremarkable mansion, people might become suspicious.

By the way, renovating this mansion required construction work, which was quickly resolved with Ironbeard’s help.

‘This is going to be your home? Then I’ll send the best craftsmen to help complete the work quickly.’

Ironbeard sent ten dwarven master craftsmen to help renovate the mansion.

Most of the decorations currently adorning the place were installed by these dwarven craftsmen.

Something about showcasing the greatness of their benefactor, or so they said.

As a result, this mansion looked like a work of art from a distance.

The main gate was enchanted with magic to automatically open and close upon detecting people.

As I approached, the gate opened automatically, and after I entered, it closed behind me.

Inside the mansion, the servants who were cleaning paused to greet me.

    “Welcome home, Marquis.”

All the servants working here had been sent by the Prime Minister.

When I needed to hire servants for the new mansion but wasn’t yet qualified to do so myself, he had gladly selected and sent people.

“The mansion looks clean today as well. Thank you for your continued hard work.”

    “It’s our pleasure, sir.”

After receiving the servants’ greetings, I went up to the second floor of the mansion.

There were several rooms on the second floor, but we only used four of them.

Regina’s room, my room, Cheon Hyeryeong’s room, and the bedroom.

Why is there only one bedroom when there are three rooms? I won’t elaborate on that reason.

I’m not a minor anymore, having completed my military service and even finished my reserve duty.

Everyone knows what happens when a man and woman are in the same room late at night.

Ahem, anyway, that’s not what’s important right now.

I entered my room and opened the letter from the Magic Tower.

Why would those proud individuals send me a letter?

Were they going to list more regulations explaining why they didn’t need my help?

With these questions in mind, I opened the letter and read its contents.

    ◈◇◈◇◈◇◈◇◈◇◈

From the Archenium Magic Tower to Marquis Pathos Severio, we extend our greetings.

I am Zern Meyer, Chairman of the Round Table Council, leading the Archenium Magic Tower.

The reason for sending this letter is that, after reviewing our regulations, we have decided to accept Marquis Pathos Severio as an honorary member of the Magic Tower.

According to the Magic Tower’s charter, we were prohibited from receiving help from outsiders.

Because of this, even when you offered to help us, we had to regretfully decline your assistance.

Breaking our oath to the Tower’s charter would result in all of us losing our ability to use magic.

However, upon further investigation of the charter, we discovered a provision stating that the partner of an Archmage who has reached the 8th circle or higher can be recognized as an honorary member.

Therefore, we at the Archenium Magic Tower hereby announce that we are appointing Marquis Pathos Severio as an honorary member of our Archenium Magic Tower.

As an honorary member, Marquis Pathos Severio now has the qualification to freely enter the Magic Tower and provide assistance as desired.

Once again, congratulations on your appointment as an honorary member, and we look forward to your continued activities and interest in our Tower.

    ◈◇◈◇◈◇◈◇◈◇◈

After reading the contents of the letter, I couldn’t hide my disgruntled feelings.

So, they rejected my help because of the Magic Tower’s rules, and now they’ve found a loophole to get around it?

I guess the Magic Tower is just another place where people live after all.
