Chapter Index

Like anyone else, I got completely triggered by a provocative post.

“C-Commander, wouldn’t it be better if you rested first…?”

    “Be quiet, Jessica.”

    “Ugh…”

As if possessed, I scrolled through posts about solo play and criticisms directed at me.

In the process, Oxianor, who had come to tell me something, flinched in confusion.

And Pantyless Tiamat, who had energetically entered with Ignis, backed away in the exact same posture and expression she came in with.

I witnessed many peculiar situations, but at that time, I wasn’t in a position to care about such things, so I ignored everyone like a jerk.

    After looking through everything…

Title: Honestly, no matter how strong a solo user is, isn’t conquering a fortress city alone impossible?

    Author: Anonymous

Content: [Image of fortress city defense battery configuration]

There are thousands of defense batteries installed here.

While interceptors and patrol fleets numbering in the hundreds or thousands buy time, war fleets including battleships emerge to pound you.

The armor plating is ridiculously tough too.

    Comments:

    -[That’s right]

-[That place requires a medium-sized clan or larger to properly siege]

-[Even Rakshasa or Icarus couldn’t break through that]

    -˪[OP](Icarus)

    -˪[???]

    -˪[Why are you here?]

    -˪[What’s this?]

    —————————————-

After leaving a comment that perfectly capped off a post I found by chance.

    “Jessica.”

    “Uh… yes?”

“Cancel making a clan. These bastards have dared to touch my pride.”

Thoroughly triggered, I threw away my PTSD about clans and instead decided to try something to maintain my pride(?) as a solo player.

    And what was that “something”?

“Commander, what exactly are you planning to do?”

“Jessica, there are ‘space cities’ in the central zone that clans use for invasion, right?”

    “Ah yes, there are.”

“I believe the largest one was the Tannhäuser Gateway Fortress…”

“Yes, that’s right, but Commander, you don’t mean…?”

“We’re taking that place, starting now.”

The ultimate show-off a solo player could attempt in this crappy game Astral Lagrange without a clan’s help.

Namely, the plan to conquer a ‘space city’ alone.

And not just some small fortress colony that might be possible for a decent solo player with extreme effort.

I’m talking about a space fortress and port far larger than most planets, with an attached super-large warp gate.

Of course, Jessica expressed considerable concern about my impulsive plan.

“But Commander, conquering a city alone could turn into a ‘Pyrrhic victory’?”

    “Hmm…”

“Even though we have ships like Hresvelgr and Kraken that can face fleets single-handedly, there are still limits.”

    “Hmmmm.”

Her words reminded me of a gallery post I had seen earlier.

Title: There are so many unconquered fortress cities and stations in the Central Zone

    Author: Mineirang

Content: [Clan map image showing locations of ‘unconquered fortress cities and planetary systems’ in the Central Zone]

Why are there so many left?

There must be clans there too

    Comments:

-[There are clans, but unlike other zones, there aren’t medium-sized clans capable of conducting fortress sieges]

-[It’s basically a den of solo players, so when a real large clan enters, they collectively resist]

-[The situation is too complicated to explain in comments]

-[Wait, I’ll write a post about it]

Title: Explanation of why strongholds remain in the Central Zone.txt

    Author: Seagull

Content: [Image of unnamed users’ fleets exchanging fire]

To summarize briefly, many top-ranked players have survived in that den.

These top-ranked players could certainly conquer strongholds if they wanted.

The problem is that while the conquering player is fighting defense fleets and depleting their forces,

It’s too easy for another player to stab them in the back.

When clans do it, even if users participating in the siege take damage,

Other clan members can cover for them, and they can quickly recover using the clan’s stockpiled resources, right?

But there, users have to act alone, so recovery is slow and there’s no one to protect them.

If there were, they wouldn’t be solo in the first place.

And recently, some rankers tried challenging city sieges but got backstabbed by other users.

Then before the backstabber could take control of the city, another player would join the fray, and they’d all fail when the city fleet respawned.

Because of this mess, several solo rankers have had mental breakdowns and moved to Humanity with its solid welfare, or to Loki where trolling other users is tolerated.

    Comments:

-[Quite a few people go to Justice to be favored]

-[Strangely, not many people go to Space Kampf]

-[There’s no representative clan there, Justice is between Kampf and Earth Federation]

    -˪[Oh, is that so]

    —————————————-

From these gallery posts, I could see that Jessica’s concerns were indeed valid.

I nodded to Jessica, who looked worried, and spoke calmly.

“Jessica, your concerns are very plausible… no, reasonable.”

    “Right?”

“But just to clarify, I never said I’d be using ‘only’ my fleet in this battle?”

    “…Huh?”

The specialty of a solo player.

    Use whatever you can.

And among those usable resources are the ‘pirate mercenary corps with unlimited hiring capacity’ that users always mention when referring to me.

Second, Princess Luca’s personal hobby(?) fleet that multiplies on its own as long as resources are provided.

Finally… after withdrawing my fleet for various reasons previously and finding myself in danger,

I now have command authority over thousands of pirate ships granted by Marian.

Add to that my main force, including ships like Kraken and Hresvelgr?

Calculating the forces in my head.

Despite all my talk about solo player pride, I essentially had firepower equivalent to an entire clan on the move.

    So it seemed perfectly feasible.

And while explaining this thought to Jessica, I also expressed that I wasn’t planning to attack right away.

“Jessica, what are we currently building?”

“Huh? Oh… the Air Command Headquarters.”

“Right, and how long until it’s completed… just a moment.”

    —————————————-

    <Air Command Headquarters under construction…>

    <Time remaining until completion: 20 days 13 hours 0 minutes 19 seconds>

    —————————————-

“Hmm, about 20 days left, right? I plan to launch the attack only after this is built and my first large carrier completes repairs.”

    “I see.”

“But during that time, imagine we gather additional resources and increase the resource allocation to Princess Luca’s fleet.”

    “…!”

“While also maximizing leveling and proficiency, and then finally leading an army of massively hired mercenaries with all the resources we’ve gathered.”

    “…That would be impressive.”

That would give me the original eight superhumans including Marian.

The bearded pirate admiral whose name I can’t remember and his subordinate pirate captains.

Mercenary captains who could demonstrate S-class power or higher when things go well, plus modified chimeras, monsters, and various pirate forces.

It was truly a force to make one’s heart swell with pride.
