Ch.254Status Check After a Long Time! (2)
by fnovelpia
After expressing my admiration(?) for Tiamat’s clumsiness.
I watched as Tiamat skillfully parked the Kraken next to the base while aboard the light aircraft carrier and headed back. Now, I decided to check on the fleet’s current status.
Especially since “battleships” had been added this time.
Without losing any ships during the event, and continuously expanding the fleet through the shipyard.
It was about time I took a detailed look at everything.
And as for the fleet status, since it was linked to my status window, I could check it immediately…

Fleet Status
Total Points: 650/650 points
Aircraft Carriers: 2 ships, 70 points each = 140 points
Special Battleship: 1 ship, 65 points each = 65 points
Battleships: 2 ships, 40 points each = 80 points
Subspace Submarine: 1 ship, 50 points each = 50 points
Light Aircraft Carrier: 1 ship, 40 points each = 40 points
Battle Cruisers: 5 ships, 30 points each = 150 points
Heavy Cruisers: 3 ships, 10 points each = 30 points
Light Cruiser: 1 ship, 6 points each = 6 points
Destroyers: 14 ships, 3 points each = 42 points
Escort Ships: 0 ships, 1.5 points each = 0 points
Patrol Ships: 5 ships, 1 point each = 5 points
Resource Mining Ships: 28 ships, 1.5 points each = 42 points

‘I’ve collected quite a solid fleet.’
Seeing that I had successfully filled exactly 650 points, I felt satisfied as I mentally erased the images of the heavy cruisers, light cruisers, and destroyers that I had scrapped recently because of the newly acquired battleships.
Although the battleships weren’t particularly well-leveled, perhaps because the person who drew them didn’t use them well.
Since the battleships could properly receive buffs from Berial and Griyanar.
Unlike the aircraft carriers that were extremely difficult to level up initially and wasted excessive resources, leveling up the battleships was proceeding quite smoothly.
And separate from the “main fleet,” the status of my “mercenary corps”—the major reason other rankers treated me as a one-person clan—was also quite impressive.
‘Let’s see… where’s the mercenary corps menu? Ah, here it is.’

<Mercenary Corps Employment Status>
<Currently employing 5 mercenary corps>
<Total Ship Types>
<Battle Cruisers: 3 ships>
<Light Cruisers: 2 ships>
<Destroyers: 9 ships>
<Escort Ships: 8 ships>
<Patrol Ships: 11 ships>
<Daily Resource Consumption: 6,119 Minerals, 570 Rare Resources>

Perhaps because I hired a mercenary corps with 3 battle cruisers right before participating in the event.
Despite reducing the number of mercenary “corps” compared to before, their strength was impressively greater than mine when I had just reached base level 6.
Of course, the other 4 mercenary corps were quite weak compared to the one with 3 battle cruisers…
But originally, as you could see from the <Fleet Status> I checked earlier.
They were meant to replace the small ships that were inevitably inadequate due to point limitations, as my main fleet was transitioning to a large ship-centered system.
In other words… though it’s unfortunate for them, they were essentially meat shields, so I didn’t need to pay much attention to them.
Of course, if necessary, I could roll more mercenary corps gacha(?) and might find much more useful allies…
But once you hired a mercenary corps, they would drain resources daily as “employment fees” until the contract was terminated, even if they did nothing.
If I hired more, I might have to declare default(?) since I had limited resource supply as someone not belonging to a clan.
So I decided to be satisfied with keeping their maintenance costs at about 1/4 to 1/5 of my daily resource income.
==========
Besides, there was one more reason why I wasn’t hiring additional mercenary corps.
And that reason was none other than…
“Jessica, Jessica.”
“Yes, Commander.”
“Somehow it seems like the monster fleet has grown quite a bit.”
“Yes, during the event and even afterward, they somehow grew vigorously on their own.”
The monster fleet initially had only a few small and medium-sized monsters, a mix of light cruiser and destroyer class.
But while I was too busy with events and incidents to pay attention, they must have wandered around the surrounding areas eating whatever they found.
They evolved on their own and recruited new members, and now there were even heavy cruiser class monsters—not “small to medium-sized monsters” but “medium-sized monsters” roaming around.
‘Hmm, interesting.’
Of course, if you actually examined them closely, they had just grown a bit larger.
In the system, they would probably be classified into weird subcategories like “large light cruiser,” “medium destroyer,” or “lead destroyer.”
But since I would have to check each one individually to know such details…
I was about to let go of my train of thought about those petite creatures simply because it was bothersome.
But at that very moment.
A thought suddenly occurred to me.
‘Originally, Oxianor was supposed to manage the monster fleet, but she was with me during the event period and even afterward.’
To be precise, it was only during the event period, and afterward she was “commuting”(?).
Anyway, the important question was, unlike before, Oxianor wasn’t permanently stationed at the “Nest of Life” anymore… so who was managing and raising the monster fleet like that?
To resolve this question immediately, I called Oxianor through Jessica and asked her.
And in response to my question, Oxianor, wearing her usual bio-suit, nodded calmly with an indifferent expression as if it were nothing special.
“Of course, Princess Luca personally took charge.”
“Oh?”
“The princess used the knowledge she received from the Queen, along with the inspiration and wisdom she gained from observing your fleet, to manipulate our ships in various ways.”
“Hooo…”
After asking a few more questions, I was able to understand the situation.
“Oxianor, so you’re saying Princess Luca has developed a hobby for fleet management?”
“You’ve greatly abbreviated and cut my words, but it’s not incorrect to say so.”
“Hmm.”
Facing Oxianor’s attitude, I felt an extremely peculiar feeling inside.
‘Wait, she’s a princess, right? Why is your princess personally tinkering with the fleet?’
If I had actually said that, Oxianor would likely grab me by the collar and hit me for being disrespectful, so I kept silent.
Even without that, unlike what one would expect from “space monsters,” there was a strangely strong British Empire concept emanating from them.
The princess was boldly acting in a way that made me wonder if her real name included “Elizabeth.”
I couldn’t help but have very mixed feelings about this.
And perhaps to solidify this concept even further.
Right after hearing such a story from Oxianor.

<Quest>
<This Princess’s Fleet Needs Some Resources.>
<Content>
<Recently, apart from the secret alliance with the Pirate Union, Princess Luca felt she needed her own pastime and tried all sorts of things she could do.>
<And among all those things, the one that best suited her taste was none other than “fleet management”… it was just luck, that’s all.>
<Anyway, as she diligently cultivated the fleet, learning from your fleet operation doctrine and the might of the “Kraken”…>
<At first, she used only the resources provided by your base, but later she started gathering small amounts of resources from nearby resource zones and shipwrecks.>
<Working hard on her own, making various things, she finally succeeded in raising monsters up to the “heavy cruiser” class.>
<But Princess Luca, finding this insufficient, upon confirming that you’ve become aware of her hobby.>
<She hopes to receive official resource support from you for her hobby.>
<Objective>
<Agree to provide Princess Luca in the “Nest of Life” with at least 1,000 minerals and 100 rare resources daily.>

Seeing the quest that boldly appeared asking for resources.
My complex and peculiar feelings were reaching their peak at this point.
