Ch.251[Chapter 251] Peaceful Daily Life
by fnovelpia
Sir Dominic’s first action after coming up from Glitchburg was to return home.
Due to being caught up in a series of unusual incidents recently, he had accumulated quite a bit of fatigue.
No matter how physically and mentally strong Sir Dominic was, it was clearly time for him to rest a little.
Isn’t that how everything works?
Meat tastes better after resting following butchering, and tea develops better flavor when it’s allowed to cool slightly after pouring water.
People weren’t much different.
After intense stimulation, rest time is necessary.
“I’m back.”
“Welcome home. The melon-flavored ice cream—”
Upon arriving home, Sir Dominic headed toward his room while receiving Sir Dominica’s greeting.
Sir Dominica was about to ask Sir Dominic about his day, but seeing the deep dark shadows under his eyes, she kept her mouth shut.
Anyone could see that Sir Dominic needed rest.
“I guess you weren’t in a situation to buy any. Get some good rest today. There’s no work anyway.”
Sir Dominica spoke softly to Sir Dominic as he was about to enter his room.
Sir Dominic simply nodded once, hung his armor on the armor stand, and immediately lay down on the bed.
Normally, he would at least wash up before lying down, but that’s how exhausted Sir Dominic was.
After briefly enjoying the soft sensation of the bed, Sir Dominic suddenly took out his phone and checked his missed calls and messages one by one.
Most were from people he didn’t know, but generally they contained explanations, apologies, and compensation proposals regarding the recent incident.
I should visit the Executive branch tomorrow.
Sir Dominic thought this while looking at the Executive branch’s compensation proposal for this anomalous incident.
The Executive branch’s proposal was quite clever, surprisingly offering a slightly better level of compensation than Sir Dominic had expected.
Sir Dominic considered asking for more compensation but soon shook his head.
Even to Sir Dominic, the Executive branch’s proposal seemed just right.
After checking all the messages, Sir Dominic relaxed his body and surrendered to the bed.
The phone in Sir Dominic’s hand fell onto the bed and bounced lightly.
“…?”
The black slime inside the phone peeked its head out of the screen, seemingly startled by the sudden impact, and looked around.
And as soon as it realized it was nothing serious, the slime tilted its head and returned to the S.P.Y app.
Sir Dominic blinked his sleepy eyes and momentarily surrendered to the flow of consciousness.
What was I going out for today?
Was I going to buy a T-shirt?
Did I buy a T-shirt?
Ah, I did. Then I can wear a new T-shirt tomorrow.
At first, these normal thoughts continued to flow, but soon Sir Dominic’s eyes closed.
What did that show-off magician in Feralant say?
Something about using the Merry-Burnst spinning equation to find the horizontal and vertical coordinates, and then using Astramaica integration to find the height value?
What happened to that magician?
After experiencing one real battle, he got a medical discharge for mental illness, saying that calculating coordinates on the battlefield was insane.
There’s no medical discharge in Feralant.
Sir Dominic blinked his eyes.
His consciousness was gradually darkening.
So the melon-flavored candy and T-shirt will go to the Executive branch tomorrow to receive compensation.
Ah.
As soon as that thought crossed his mind, Sir Dominic realized he was just thinking random thoughts due to extreme fatigue.
He realized he was sleepy.
But Sir Dominic was wrong.
The moment he realized he was sleepy, Sir Dominic had already completely fallen asleep.
That night, Sir Dominic dreamed of becoming a pirate-wizard wearing an oriental martial arts outfit, riding a cybernetic fire-breathing raptor, and capturing space battleships.
…
Early morning, as the sun was just beginning to rise.
Sir Dominic jumped up from his bed at the morning sunlight flowing through the window gap and looked at the clock.
The clock showed 7 AM.
“…I overslept.”
Sir Dominic sighed.
No matter how tired he was, he didn’t expect to oversleep enough to miss his morning training time completely.
Sir Dominic started muttering about chivalry out of guilt for skipping training, but inwardly he felt refreshed from having slept well.
He couldn’t remember exactly what he had dreamed about last night, but he felt good about the brilliance of fluorescent dinosaurs arranged like constellations in space and a crispy moon made of potato chips.
“What, you’re already up?”
While Sir Dominic was feeling happy about his refreshed body and mind, the door opened and Sir Dominica entered.
Sir Dominica was holding a plate with toasted bread, thinly grilled meat, and a half-cooked fried egg, along with a glass of milk.
“Breakfast?”
“Thank you.”
Sir Dominica uttered a condensed language to Sir Dominic, meaning that she was about to have breakfast and asking if he would join her.
Sir Dominic immediately understood the implied meaning and got up from his seat to head to the kitchen.
In the kitchen, there was another plate and glass prepared for Sir Dominic.
It seemed that Sir Dominica had prepared it in advance for Sir Dominic.
Sir Dominic pulled out a chair at the table and sat down.
And silently poked the half-cooked egg yolk with his fork.
As the egg yolk burst and the yellow contents flowed down, Sir Dominic tore off a piece of bread and dipped it into the flowing yolk.
“That’s where you’re different from me.”
Sir Dominica, who was watching Sir Dominic eat bread from the opposite side, said while chewing meat.
At those words, Sir Dominic observed how Sir Dominica was eating, and she was doing the same up to bursting the egg yolk, but instead of bread, she was dipping thinly grilled meat and putting it on top of bread.
“Well, just because we’re from parallel worlds doesn’t mean everything is the same.”
After all, we’re different genders, so we can be different in these trivial things too, Sir Dominic said.
“Well, that’s true.”
Sir Dominica agreed with Sir Dominic’s words and took another bite of bread.
“By the way, you didn’t wash up yesterday, right? I turned on the hot water just in case, do you want to wash up?”
“I should, shouldn’t I? If I pretend I exercised in the morning and then wash—”
Flinch.
In the middle of having an ordinary conversation with Sir Dominica, Sir Dominic felt a chill for some reason.
Feeling this strange sensation, Sir Dominic stopped eating his bread, jumped up, went to the living room, and flung open the door.
And there—
There was no one.
“What’s wrong? What happened?”
Sir Dominica followed Sir Dominic to the living room, looking confused.
Sir Dominic looked carefully to the left and right, up and down, even beyond the yard to the forest, but nothing triggered his senses.
Sir Dominic, with a suspicious mind, asked Sir Dominica one question.
“Did you feel anything?”
“Feel what?”
Sir Dominica looked around briefly at Sir Dominic’s words.
However, since Sir Dominica didn’t feel the strange feeling that Sir Dominic had felt, she didn’t understand him.
Sir Dominica looked at Sir Dominic strangely.
Sir Dominic was frowning and sweating coldly for some reason, with his pupils contracted and trembling wildly.
“I think you’re still not fully recovered from fatigue. It would be good for you to rest today.”
Sir Dominica, concerned about Sir Dominic, asked if he would like to rest today.
Sir Dominic realized through Sir Dominica’s behavior that he had overreacted.
“Perhaps I should.”
Sir Dominic carefully closed the front door again.
The sense that had been warning Sir Dominic of danger until just now had disappeared as if it were a lie.
“I’m sorry. It seems I’ve accumulated a lot of fatigue from the many recent incidents.”
Sir Dominic apologized to Sir Dominica for his sudden reaction and sat back at the table.
Thinking that perhaps he should sleep a bit more.
…
In the dense forest in front of Sir Dominic’s mansion.
“Hehehe… Is this the place…?”
A suspicious-looking woman was standing at the top of a tree, looking at Sir Dominic’s mansion.
“Indeed. So this is Sir Dominic’s mansion… Hehe. Hahaha!”
The suspicious-looking woman confirmed once more that this was Sir Dominic’s mansion and burst into maniacal laughter.
A suspicious appearance by anyone’s standards.
After laughing like that for a while, the woman slowly stopped laughing and landed on the ground with a light jump.
“Hehehe… Sir Dominic…”
The suspicious woman approached Sir Dominic’s mansion one step at a time, wearing a suspicious smile.
“What expression will Sir Dominic make when he sees this? Hehehe…”
The suspicious woman then pushed a tightly sealed envelope into the mailbox in front of Sir Dominic’s mansion.
After staring at the envelope and snickering for a while, the woman looked at Sir Dominic’s house once more and then disappeared from that spot.
In the place she left, on the remaining envelope…
