“Th-that must not be released!! It must be stopped!! Young warrior!!”

The skeleton clattered as it shouted.

“No. How did you survive?”

I couldn’t help but ask that question.

“Because I have a mission to guard the seal of that sword!!! As long as I haven’t fulfilled that mission, I cannot die!!”

The skeleton spoke with grave determination.

But… with only a skull remaining, that serious expression just didn’t quite hit the mark.

“No!! You were entrusted with such an important mission!!! Why are you so weak?”

Kirtan immediately raised an objection.

Well, he was taken out in one hit by Blackburn’s sword. Too much of a pushover…

The skeleton shouted.

Fair enough, he did say some pretty ominous lines. ‘I’m not protecting the sword. I’m protecting you from the sword.’ Hearing that would naturally make anyone fearful.

“Damn it… that sword, it gets stronger the more people it kills, right?”

I asked the skeleton.

“Of course!! Anyone who wields that sword becomes a beast craving power and ends up killing every living being they see!! There was even someone who was enthralled by that sword and destroyed an entire planet!!! Fearing that, I fled to Earth, a remote planet… but even Earth’s inhabitants were consumed by the sword’s malice. In the end, I sealed the sword in this cave.”

The skeleton continued rapidly.

“Looking on the bright side, it seems he hasn’t absorbed enough human souls yet.”

I said as I picked up the sword.

If that was the case, we had a chance. We needed to eliminate it before it consumed more souls.

It was essentially a demonic sword in its larval stage. If so, we just needed to eliminate it before it grew.

Blackburn only muttered Kirtan’s name.

Then Blackburn took out a communicator.

Blackburn ordered somewhere.

Sensing what Blackburn was planning, I immediately approached with my sword drawn.

“I won’t let you!!”

While strengthening my legs in a stance of blazing intensity, I quickly closed the distance toward Blackburn.

“Hahahahaha!! Too late!!”

Blackburn laughed and swung his sword.

Swoooooosh-!!

Just by swinging the sword, an enormous amount of blade wind whirled around.

“Shit…!!”

It wasn’t a sword fight but almost a bullet hell shooting game.

Clang-! Claaang-! Claaaang-!! Claaaaaang-!!

I immediately raised my sword and blocked the slashes one after another.

“Damn it! Shit!!”

I was so busy dodging or blocking the sword attacks that I couldn’t close the distance.

As a temporary dimensional gate opened, Blackburn’s pirate crew was summoned in front of him.

“Captain!!! You’ve obtained the treasure!! Does this mean we can finally take down Kirtan’s crew?”

Blackburn’s men shouted joyfully.

“Run away!!!”

I shouted loudly.

But it was too late.

Swoooooosh-!!!

Blackburn simply cut down his comrades with his sword without hesitation.

“Huuuugh…!!”

“Aaaaargh…!!!”

As the souls of the entire pirate crew were extracted, they were condensed into the sword.

Shit!! The entire Blackburn pirate crew was just converted into stacks for the demonic sword.

“Hahahahaha!! Power overflows within me!!”

Blackburn shouted as he raised his sword. The demonic energy emanating from the sword was growing stronger.

“We’re screwed…”

Now it was impossible to win in a direct confrontation.

“Blackburn… you sacrificed your comrades… just to become stronger?”

Kirtan glared at Blackburn as she spoke.

“Yes!!! They were my subordinates anyway!! I used them as I pleased!!! That’s what being a pirate is!!!”

Blackburn cackled as he spoke.

“That’s not what being a pirate means!!!”

Kirtan shouted loudly.

“Hehehe. If that’s not being a pirate, then what is?”

Blackburn smirked as he looked at Kirtan.

“They’re family who sail on the same ship!!!! And you betray them like that?!!”

Kirtan shouted.

“So what? If there’s something I want, I’ll get it by any means necessary. That’s my belief as a pirate!!”

Blackburn shouted with his hand raised high.

“Shota… I’ll take down this disgusting bastard with my own hands.”

Kirtan seemed genuinely pissed off by Blackburn’s words.

“Oh!! I told you we’re compatible!”

I smiled as I raised my sword.

“I’ll clear the path. You finish him off. Captain.”

I smiled at Kirtan as I spoke.

“Right. That’s my husband for you!!”

Kirtan said that and immediately rushed toward Blackburn.

“Yes!! Struggle all you want!!! Don’t worry, Kirtan! I’ll keep you alive to be my sex slave!!!”

Demonic energy swirled around Blackburn’s sword.

BOOOOOM-!!

As Blackburn swung his sword, an enormous slash came whirling.

Whoooosh-!!

I immediately condensed wind in one hand to create a blade.

Claaaaaaang-!

While blocking the slash with my air blade, I immediately rolled forward and rushed ahead.

“Kirtan! Just follow behind me!! Then you won’t die!!”

I shouted loudly.

“Okay!!”

Kirtan nodded and followed me.

BOOM-! BANG-!! CRASH-!!!!

Slashes whirled from all directions. Shit. Just sending slashes from a distance had this much power. There’s a limit to how selfish one’s damage output should be…!!

Clang-! Clang-! Claaang-!

But that didn’t change what I had to do. I had to swing my sword hard to deflect the slashes and clear a path. It was for Kirtan’s decisive blow.

But our advance was at a standstill.

“Shit!! This isn’t right!!”

There were too many slashes raining down. Even if I swung my sword to erase them one by one, I couldn’t clear a path.

It was a hellish bullet pattern.

That’s when it happened.

A rain of beams poured down from the sky.

The beams all hit Blackburn directly.

With that, Blackburn failed to form his slashes.

“Captain!!! Now’s the time!! Hurry!!”

The Kirtan ship was floating majestically above.

“Full cannon fire!!!!”

The Kirtan ship knew exactly what to do at this moment. It was pouring laser fire with all its might, forcing Blackburn to take defensive action.

With lasers pouring from all directions, Blackburn had no choice but to stop his slashes and focus on deflecting the lasers.

Blackburn shouted loudly.

Seizing the moment, I immediately rushed forward with Kirtan.

Blackburn swung a massive slash toward the sky.

The slash hit the Kirtan ship directly. As the ship was half-destroyed, it slowly began to fall.

“Damn it!! You guys!!”

Kirtan looked up at the ship with a tearful face. She must be worried about her crew.

“Go, Captain!! Hurry!!!”

The navigator’s shout was heard.

“Let’s go!! Kirtan!! Now’s our chance!!”

I immediately encouraged Kirtan. Blackburn had made a large motion to launch a slash to shoot down the ship. This was when he had the most openings.

“Yaaaaaaah!!”

I immediately rushed toward Blackburn.

“You bastard…!!”

Anger flickered in Blackburn’s eyes.

“I’ll kill you!!!!”

Blackburn tried to swing a slash toward my neck.

“Hah!! I saw that!!”

No matter how ridiculously powerful the demonic sword was, Blackburn’s attacks were quite monotonous. His basic sword skills weren’t that high.

Imagine if Gonzaemon had gotten this demonic sword. Then Kirtan and I would have been nicely minced meat together.

I immediately slid to avoid the slash.

“Yaaaaaaah!!!!”

Swoooosh-!!

I cut off Blackburn’s sword hand. From the beginning, one of the target areas in swordsmanship was the wrist. I was familiar with wrist strikes.

Blackburn’s hand holding the demonic sword flew through the air.

Right after that, I kicked Blackburn hard. That broke Blackburn’s stance.

“Kirtan!!! Now’s the time!!”

I shouted loudly toward Kirtan.

“Here I go!!!”

Kirtan immediately stabbed her sword into Blackburn’s stomach.

Kirtan’s sword cleanly pierced through Blackburn’s stomach.

“Guhaaack!!!”

Blackburn coughed up blood.

“Farewell. Let’s not meet again.”

Kirtan took out a laser pistol with her other hand and aimed it at Blackburn’s head.

Zwoooooom-!!!

Before Blackburn could say anything, the laser pistol cleanly blew off his head.

Phew… is it over now? I felt relief.

Twitch-!

However, Blackburn’s pulverized head twitched.

“N-not yet… I’m not dead… if I can just grab the sword…!”

Blackburn’s eerie cry was heard.

No way. He’s surviving this?

However, Kirtan and I foresaw what would happen in a few seconds and gave bitter smiles.

“Fine. You win. Congratulations, idiot.”

I coolly acknowledged.

“I… I won!! See, Kirtan… I’m superior to that man…!”

Blackburn couldn’t finish his sentence.

The demonic sword floating in the air struck Blackburn’s body straight like a guillotine blade.

With that, Blackburn’s body was cleanly cut in half and scattered.

It was our victory.

And the sword stuck in the ground spoke to me.

“Ah… a strong swordsman I haven’t met in thousands of years. You are worthy to be my vessel. Together with me, we shall rule this world…!”

It was a demonic sword immediately looking for its next owner and trying to sell its pitch.

“Be quiet!!!”

Of course, it had no effect. I immediately swung my beloved sword Tomato.

With that, the demonic sword was cut in half and scattered.

And so, Kirtan and I disposed of the demonic sword.

It was a bit disappointing that it wasn’t a truly valuable treasure, but there was still a sense of fulfillment in having saved the world.
