Ch.244Assassination(???) Plan. (2)
by fnovelpia
At the exact moment Icarus was refusing to ride something that was a feminist kangaroo and ordering them to bring a proper transport vehicle.
“Why is he refusing?”
“He says what if our superhumans get wiped out pathetically.”
“It seems the devastating failure of the Unity Clan we temporarily formed last time, plus Marshmallow losing an SSS-rank, has had a big impact.”
“Sigh…”
Antares and Humanity also began responding appropriately to external personnel who were reacting negatively.
“It’s not like we’re going for a full-scale battle with them just to assassinate the Commander, right?”
“Yes, that’s correct.”
“Then we could deploy a high-performance stealth assault ship and carefully infiltrate with that.”
“Would that be possible when it would be detected by graviton radar?”
“There’s a ship that doesn’t get caught by that.”
“We don’t have that, Clan Leader.”
“…”
For this mission, Clan Leader Antares readily(?) offered one of the ships obtained through gacha.
The “Chiral-class Stealth Destroyer,” an SSS-rank vessel with the best stealth capabilities among existing ships.
They coaxed and persuaded users, even promising massive support to those participating in this battle.
They even promised to provide “gacha usage rights” stored in the clan warehouse if an SSS-rank superhuman was lost.
Some groups who blindly believed in their luck, or those dreaming of getting 10 SSS-rank superhumans or ships in a single 10-pull, quietly decided to join the operation.
And after squeezing out participants with great effort, cutting those who agreed to participate but then tried to run at the last minute with excuses like “actually, this doesn’t seem right”…
After mobilizing every possible means to scrape together superhuman forces, our tenacious Humanity members finally succeeded in forming an elite infiltration team of about 20 people, including 12 SSS-ranks.
Of course, once this result came out, Humanity’s staff members thought it might still be insufficient.
“Icarus must have received gacha rewards this time, and considering he deployed at least 6 superhumans during the event…”
“Yeah.”
“Thinking about superhumans who might be at the base or mercenary pirates on standby… shouldn’t we deploy at least 20 SSS-ranks to be safe?”
They were calling for a safe approach with 20 or more, but unfortunately, reality never proceeds according to plan.
“We’ve already had to promise massive resources, gacha currency, and gacha usage rights until they can summon new superhumans if they lose one, just to get this many.”
“Hmm.”
“If we try to gather more, it’ll put too much strain on the clan.”
They weren’t collecting 4-5 superhumans from each person at once.
They had carefully selected the optimal combination from users who possessed SSS-ranks, barely scraping together one from each person.
Gathering more would be too much of a burden, even for Humanity, the #1 ranked clan.
Of course, if they were truly determined to engage in all-out war with Icarus, they could mobilize thousands of superhumans rather than just 20.
The problem was that they weren’t aiming for all-out war, but rather a black ops mission.
For a mission that needed to be conducted without others knowing, such a commotion would be impossible.
Besides, as mentioned previously, Icarus only had about 7-8 superhumans at most.
And among them, 2 were long-range types or supporters who would be quite ineffective in close combat between superhumans.
“Isn’t 12 people actually enough?”
“Honestly, they say he only has about 5 effective combat forces, right?”
“Even if the pirates have additional superhumans, only the fleet admiral would be comparable to SSS-rank, so it shouldn’t be a big problem.”
Believing they had a decent chance of success, they decided to push forward with this plan.
However, in the process, they noticed that among Icarus’s superhumans identified during the event, there was one named “Smeragi” who specialized in applying severe debuffs related to “infiltration.”
“Oh please.”
“I guess you need to be that hardcore to become a ranker.”
They realized they now had to meticulously plan alternative infiltration routes to account for Smeragi’s infiltration debuffs.
They began racking their brains on how to protect the lives of the “borrowed superhumans” while achieving maximum effectiveness.
Meanwhile, while the Humanity clan was busy preparing their elite infiltration team of about 20 members, including 12 SSS-ranks plus top-tier SS to A-ranks…
What was our Icarus doing at that moment?
“HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!”
“Hgeeh?!”
For the first time since being transported into the game, he was performing wild breakdancing after seeing a new superhuman appear from gacha.
==========
“Please calm down, he’s just doing that because he’s too excited.”
“I-is that so?”
The newly summoned superhuman seemed bewildered by my headspinning and breakdancing, even stuttering her words.
But Jessica was beside her, providing appropriate care with practiced ease, so I didn’t need to worry about it.
Or rather, I didn’t have the luxury to properly worry about that, given the circumstances.
‘This is f***ing amazing.’
Who would have thought that out of 25 pulls done simultaneously, the very first one would be a superhuman?
And not just any superhuman, but our new SSS-rank.

<Rare Resource Box x1>
<Common Resource Box x20>

Although the remaining 24 were all resource boxes…
And 20 of them were just “Common Resource Boxes,” which at this point wouldn’t even be enough to construct a single base building if I opened them all.
But who cares about that?
I just got a superhuman from gacha for the first time, the VERY FIRST TIME in this game.
‘KYAAAAA YESSSSS!’
And amazingly! Surprisingly! It was the “commander-type” superhuman I’d been desperately wanting recently!
After calming my excitement through headspinning, I got up from my seat and approached “Tiamat,” who was receiving head pats from Jessica, to welcome her.
“I sincerely welcome you to our Astral Base, Tiamat.”
“Y-yes, I’m pleased to meet you too, Commander.”
“Let’s go to the command center for a more detailed introduction. Jessica?”
“Yes.”
And a little while later.
After returning to the command center on a proper automatic trailer instead of a kangaroo made from a kanpf…
Griyanar, who had separated the kanpf from the water bear to introduce her to others.
Rain, who could appear anywhere within the base thanks to being integrated with it.
Ignis, Partia, and Pashtra, who were resting after completing daily quests.
And finally, Berial and Marian, who were training to level up the newly built cruisers #4 and #5 and other ships.
I called them all to introduce our new member.
And having apparently calmed her startled heart from my “eccentric behavior” during our arrival…
Tiamat, whose expression was noticeably brighter than before, began her formal self-introduction.
With striking red horns, wearing a uniform with black, gold, and red design that revealed her large chest.
Her long hair flowing down to her knees, and bright red eyes the same color as her horns, she spoke:
“Ahem, let me introduce myself again, Commander.”
“Mm.”
“My name is Tiamat. Please entrust me with anything related to air traffic control and commanding carrier-based aircraft and drones.”
“Wow!”
“A newcomer, nice to meet you.”
“A commander type? Finally I meet someone of the same type.”
And the moment I heard “air traffic control” and “commanding carrier-based aircraft and drones” in Tiamat’s introduction…
I found myself nodding involuntarily, thinking this was truly impressive.
‘A fleet commander, no, an aircraft commander… awesome!’
Of course, blindly trusting a character’s self-introduction was a surefire way to get backstabbed.
So while Tiamat was engaged in pleasant girl talk with the other superhumans, with Jessica appropriately controlling the situation…
I decided to check Tiamat’s status window to confirm if her words were true.
