Ch.23Lone Wolf vs Troll (1)
by fnovelpia
Three days had passed since I learned that the event had been abruptly terminated early.
Whatever the detailed reasons might be, the fact was that the damn event had ended.
I was in a state of enjoying the holiday that came with sweet rewards while watching our server normalize.
Of course, separate from that.
“Hoo-hoo-ha.”
“Commander, your laugh sounds strange.”
I was feeling truly delighted by the fact that, having obtained a free destroyer, I could finally rotate my main fleet in three shifts if needed.
Free 10-pull gacha, how generous!
‘This is the good stuff right here.’
And on top of that….

<Resource Zone Raid Squad Processed>
<350 Minerals Acquired!>
—————————————-
After reclaiming the resource zone that was lost when we were raided by pirates, and incidentally obtaining the resources they had.
This could be called a truly happy occasion.
Moreover, including the free 10-pull and various other rewards.
With minerals temporarily increasing in large quantities, I had the opportunity to use our resources as I pleased.
So before anything else, I started upgrading our base, which was currently our most urgent priority.
But unlike upgrading existing facilities, perhaps because this was literally upgrading the “base” itself.
-Wheeeeee
-Dududuk
-Kuwung! Kung!
-Kakakakakak!
‘No matter where I go… I hear your sound.’
No matter where I went in the base, I could hear noisy construction sounds.
Literally, I could see the entire base’s structure changing and growing in real-time.
And incidentally, I could also see plenty of construction equipment like tower cranes that I’d never seen inside before when walking around the base.
The problem was, perhaps because they were literally “remodeling” the entire exterior of this massive base.
<Base Upgrade in Progress…>
<Time Remaining Until Upgrade Completion 25:31:02>
Despite pressing upgrade immediately after receiving the rewards, the upgrade was still in progress.
It would be nice if pressing upgrade would just make everything go pababak and sparkle instantly.
I couldn’t understand why this damn game took so much time for everything.
Moreover, while “time reduction” items that are almost essential in these types of games did exist.
In the case of this base upgrade, the use of time reduction items was completely blocked.
Suddenly, I had to endure these construction noises for the past three days, and for another day and one hour more.
Fortunately, there were exactly two places where these noises couldn’t be heard.
One of them was the “Commander’s Private Quarters,” with thorough soundproofing for users to stay comfortable.
And the other was the “Command Center,” which despite its structure making soundproofing seem impossible.
Was somehow soundproofed through some unknown method of game “verisimilitude” or whatever.
Thanks to that, except for the first day when I knew nothing, I had been going back and forth between my quarters and the command center while carrying out various commands.
==========
Meanwhile, as I was thinking about such things and doing this and that.
The atmosphere in the community was turning quite unfavorable for the group of trolls known as the “Villain Alliance.”

Naturally, from the perspective of most “regular” users.
Rather than the Villain Alliance who acted as they pleased like typical dopamine addicts.
They were bound to be much more favorable toward the “Veteran Alliance” who helped or could help them.
But as with all things in life, people who benchmarked the Veteran Alliance started to emerge.
The problem was…

I asked for help because they said they would help, but they brought a 10-ship fleet including a cruiser just to hunt pirates with only one destroyer and two patrol ships, then asked for deployment costs. Is this right?
They asked for 1,000 minerals for one deployment, how can a newbie provide that??
I thought it was fair to at least give them some compensation for their trouble, so I scraped together 700 minerals and gave it to them.
But they said it wasn’t enough and destroyed my fleet worth 300 minerals before leaving. What kind of behavior is this?
Comments
-[Is this for real?]
-[Seriously, what? I’ve never been asked for anything like this]
-[What kind of bastard does this?]
-[I’m a current alliance member, we don’t do this kind of crap]

Copycats of the Veteran Alliance who used to help for free are popping up everywhere
Among them, NEVER accept help from the bastards in the images I posted
They send a massive fleet that newbies can’t resist, then demand ridiculously expensive fleet deployment support fees
And if you don’t pay? They immediately attack and plunder you
They’re like loan sharks, the opposite of those troll bastards
Comments
-[This is so true]
-[I almost got hit by those bastards while my main fleet was on an expedition, but they ended up fighting each other while I held out in my base]
-[Why do more and more assholes appear as the game progresses, seriously]
-[This is driving me crazy lolololololololol]

‘This is truly maddening.’
As if they were copy fetishists, there were already people imitating us.
But these imitators, instead of following the original initiator’s intentions.
Were focusing only on rewards as if they were pirates themselves.
Seeing such despicable behavior, I couldn’t help but shake my head.
And separately from that, seeing that users had already started operating “cruiser” class ships.
I began searching through the base upgrade list to find the upgrade stage that would allow cruiser production.
Fortunately, that upgrade was the very next stage after the current one.

<Base Level 3 Upgrade>
<<<Required Resources: 4,000 Minerals, 100 Rare Resources>>>
<Upgrade Unlocks>
˪<Additional Shipyard Production Line>
˪<Rare Resource Production Facility>
˪<Cruiser Class Blueprint Unlocked>
˪<Increased Maximum Ship Capacity in Base>

Seeing this description, I thought about the “Rare Resources” I had received as event rewards.
Remembering that I had only gotten 300 of them, I felt that I really needed to use them sparingly.
And separately from that, I called Jessica who happened to be nearby.
“Jessica, roughly how many minerals do we have left now?”
“Since we don’t need to repair any ships at the moment, we have about 5,000 minerals left.”
“Hmm.”
“To be precise, it’s in the 4,900 range, and now that you’re running five resource zones, Commander, we’re getting 875 per day.”
“Hmmmm.”
After hearing this explanation, I looked at the list of facilities that could be built once the current base upgrade was complete.

<Additional Shipyard Production Line>(Minerals: 500)
<Advanced Research Lab>(Minerals: 700)
<Resource Synthesis Facility>(1,000)
<Advanced Technology Management Office>(1,200)

I was able to get a rough sense of what I should do going forward.
