# 235. Just Believe!
As expected, those two were the hot potatoes of this battle.
But war is not some tiny event where just two people compete to see who’s better.
Battles between the Kainis Empire and the Babylon Kingdom had occurred dozens, no… hundreds of times, and continued to conclude.
-Woong!! Kwakwakwakwang!!!-
It was just a single kick, but it split the ground and took dozens of lives.
Some mourned the deaths of their comrades, while others threw themselves at the perpetrator in rage.
But in the end, their fates were the same.
“How… how can we defeat something like that?”
“This isn’t something people like us can handle…”
Those who had witnessed Solomon’s strength with their own eyes knew the truth.
No matter how hard they tried or how much effort they put in… they could never capture that dragon.
Nevertheless, they fought for their country.
Even knowing they couldn’t win, they swung their swords while harboring feelings of despair.
“Damn… this thing is ridiculously tough.”
That complaint came from Kyle.
Unlike others’ weapons, Kyle’s sword could actually wound Solomon, but that was all it could do.
Solomon wasn’t going to fall from such minor wounds and still stood firmly in place.
“How are we supposed to kill this thing?”
It was truly puzzling.
They had thrown every possible attack at it, but it wouldn’t budge.
Frustrated by this fact, Kyle cut through the soldiers and headed toward Solomon, climbing onto its body.
Solomon released a massive amount of magical power to shake off the fly-like being clinging to its body.
-Woowoong!!-
Magical power incomparable to what Bael had released covered the battlefield.
Not only the soldiers surrounding Solomon but also the kingdom’s troops and monsters collapsed under that magical power, with some even dying.
And of course, Kyle was thrown off Solomon.
A giant hand swiftly approached Kyle.
Kyle tried to dodge, but the hand was simply too massive.
“Ah… shit..”
-Kwakwakwakwang!!-
It was just a hand gesture, but the battlefield was devastated, and Kyle, taking the attack head-on, was sent flying.
Marco burst into laughter at the sight.
Kyle, who had flown precisely to where Amelia stood, let out a deep sigh.
“Can we actually defeat that thing?”
“I have no idea.”
“Haah…”
Kyle got up from the ground while receiving treatment from nearby priests.
Then he looked not at the current battlefield but toward where they should be.
‘I wonder how they’re doing over there?’
He hadn’t been able to check on them, having neither the means nor the leisure to do so.
In truth, the outcome over there was far more important than the result here.
Even with Solomon rampaging like this, they could still win if they somehow dealt with Bael.
“What do you think about the situation over there?”
To that question, Amelia gave a rather cold response.
“I’m sure they’re handling it fine.”
That was right.
More precisely, it was better to believe so.
No matter how difficult things might be over there, they couldn’t offer any viable solutions in their current situation.
If they went over there recklessly, the main force might be breached, or they might not even be of much help.
“Hurry up and go stop that thing. This isn’t the time to be slacking off.”
“I know…”
Kyle, seeming somewhat sulky for some reason, headed back to the battlefield.
Watching his retreating figure made Amelia feel a bit sorry for him, but it couldn’t be helped.
Marco told Kyle, who had returned, about the changes that had been occurring.
“Those guys, their movements have changed slightly.”
From the beginning, they had focused all their efforts on breaking through this front line up to a certain point.
But at some moment, from the time a massive wave was felt from that direction, they had started moving somewhat defensively.
And they were positioning themselves to be able to move at any time.
“We need to stop them.”
Kyle and Marco left Solomon behind and moved quickly.
They moved swiftly and soon stood before them.
Among them, a hideous old man with not an ounce of fat to be found spoke as if he had expected this.
“Get out of our way. We have somewhere to go.”
The old man’s name was Basago.
His eyes were quite different from others’.
His two eyes, shining like a night sky adorned with stars and the moon, were beautiful in a way that didn’t match his appearance.
“I told you to get out of the way.”
“Would you move if you were me?”
When Kyle retorted like that, a grotesque creature with a human upper body and a horse lower body stood before them.
Then it released a large amount of magical power toward the numerous corpses lying on the ground.
“Wake up, soldiers of the kingdom.”
The corpses then rose from their places, emitting suspicious energy.
It felt like a dream.
But it was real.
“Everyone, move quickly. Didn’t I tell you it was dangerous?”
The reanimated corpses swarmed Kyle and Marco.
Given their sheer numbers and the fact that they were by no means weak entities to begin with, Kyle and Marco couldn’t immediately break through the horde.
Seeing this, the remaining executioners, except for the half-human half-beast man, moved past them toward their destination.
Marco, realizing they couldn’t ignore this group, decided to target the man first.
Of course, that wasn’t easy either…
“Kieeeeek!!!”
“Uwoooooh!!”
Strange sounds filled the air, and the terrible stench of rotting corpses vibrated from all directions.
The scene created by the reanimated monsters and soldiers was truly… enough to make one doubt reality.
Marco swung his sword at a giant monster that charged at him recklessly—a wolf-shaped monster that radiated intense heat in all directions.
The sword aimed for the monster’s heart, and fortunately, it hit exactly where the heart was located. Blood that still remained poured from the split flesh, and the heart, which was already split in half, was now quartered.
However…
“Urrrgh..!!”
The monster didn’t die, and instead, its teeth bit into Marco’s shoulder.
“Aaaaargh..!!”
Hearing that scream, Kyle rushed over and somehow managed to pull it off, but bright blood was already streaming from Marco’s shoulder.
The pain was dizzying, and Marco was trying his best to maintain consciousness.
“It’s much… stronger than before.”
While its defense might be similar, its strength was incomparable to when it was alive.
Normally, even if bitten, Marco’s physique would have meant only a light wound, but this time he suffered a severe injury.
What’s worse, there wasn’t a single healer here.
“Don’t try to follow them. It seems hard enough just dealing with these.”
“Yeah…”
The one fortunate thing was that the person who had done this also seemed to have used too much magical power, as he was pale-faced and panting.
In such a state, he wouldn’t be much help even if he went there.
‘The ones who’ve already gone are the problem…’
While worrying about this, Kyle noticed some kids fearlessly following after them.
They took advantage of the moment when the corpses’ attention was focused on Kyle and Marco to break through the horde relatively easily and head toward that place.
They weren’t weak. In fact, they were much stronger than ordinary soldiers and had plenty of combat experience.
But whether they were strong enough to go there… that was uncertain.
“Those kids…!?”
He wanted to stop those reckless ones immediately, but now wasn’t the time to think about such things. How could he worry about others when he was struggling to keep himself alive?
So he could only believe.
Believe that those children wouldn’t become a burden… and that they would return alive.
***
In this situation that could only breed doubt, Ellin didn’t just keep her doubts in her heart but expressed them aloud.
“Is this really right…?”
Without any other doubts, they were running hard toward where Albert would be.
The increasingly devastated ground as they went further and the increasingly clear violent waves they felt made this action even more questionable.
But they just kept moving forward.
“Um… excuse me?”
“Just follow me.”
Reikle’s voice was deadly serious, filled with sincerity.
Ellin doubted that sincerity.
“What can we… possibly do by going there?”
“Isn’t that why we’ve been through all this trouble until now?”
“That’s true, but…”
“Then just believe. Believe that we can do it.”
It was truly a reckless action.
She wondered if going there would have any meaning, if it was even right to go, but she did want to go.
She felt she might regret it if she didn’t go and something like last time happened… but she lacked the courage.
However, those words, though reckless, instilled a bit of courage in her.
She had known all along that it wasn’t the right thing to do.
Yet her feet wouldn’t stop.
Even now, she was moving toward that place, and she would continue to do so even after arriving.
If that was the case…
‘I’ll just have to believe, I guess…!’
There was nothing else to do but believe.
