# 232. Guild House (3)
A family with not only good planning skills but also incredible drive to take action.
With brains, money, time, people, and determination, what couldn’t we accomplish?
From the beginning, we were all proficient in gaming, and as a former strategy guide expert, I knew how communities worked.
I could even do video editing, though not at a professional level.
We created a timeline of our experiences, compiled and organized various information into a coherent edit, captured game footage and characters, recorded our individual narrations, and layered them into the video…
“Speaking of the video, what should we name the channel?”
“It feels wrong to just pick something carelessly.”
“We’re only uploading this one for now, but we might use it again in the future…”
“Can’t we just go with Veritas?”
We had finished making the video but were still deliberating over the channel name.
“But what if some crazy people try to track down our identities with this?”
“We’re not criminals, so it feels weird to use voice modulators.”
“That’s true, but… I wonder if we’re creating more problems than we’re solving.”
“So should we upload it or not?”
We had worked together efficiently to create it. We even reviewed it together, and the content and quality were flawless.
Yet when it came time to upload, everyone seemed hesitant.
Me?
I had no particular concerns. I was sitting a bit away from the computer, petting the cat while watching Subin and my sisters talk.
“Suhyeok, what do you think?”
“I don’t think it’s a bad idea.”
“You’re not just saying that because you don’t want our work to go to waste?”
“That’s part of it. But more importantly, we should remember our original purpose. Please stop asking so many questions. Stop caring so much. We’ve put everything you’re curious about in this video, and if there’s anything else you want to know, upload it through this channel. That’s why I said I don’t think it’s a bad idea.”
“Hmm.”
The channel name was decided as 베리타스VERITAS. Originally, we planned to use only Korean, but we ended up including the English spelling as well.
Each letter represented a member, revealing a single word (family)—it was a perfect expression.
The logo featured a cat resembling Radaniya. The reason should be obvious without explanation.
“So we’re uploading it?”
“Let’s do it.”
“Click. I wonder how many views it’ll get?”
“Who knows. It’s a brand new channel with its first video, so the chances of it getting buried are probably close to 100%.”
“Maybe we should have used Yuri’s close-up shot as clickbait for the thumbnail?”
“What? It would’ve been better to use that sneaky expression Subin unnie had when she was clinging to oppa.”
“Let’s just capture and upload Soyu doing Pilates!”
“How can you suggest exposing our personal information like that…”
After uploading the video and disconnecting from it mentally, laughter bloomed among us. If it got buried, that would be a bit disappointing, but if it did well, we’d achieve our goal.
For us, this too had become an enjoyable part of our daily lives.
*****
– We were likely the advance party, so we don’t know much about others. As for who entered the Tower, as already revealed, they were raid party members who had attempted a certain boss raid.
– What we experienced inside the Tower can be thought of as people directly experiencing what characters went through in the base game. The difference is there’s no respawning—getting hurt is extremely painful, and death is the end.
– When our raid party cleared the final floor and exited the Tower, two months had passed. We were immediately hospitalized, but we could still watch TV while bedridden… Yes, shortly after our return, the Tower entrants returned. The simultaneous return of mass missing persons. Yes, that’s right.
– Many people ask if there was any reward for clearing the final floor, since it was a game world… Getting out alive was the miracle. Honestly… we almost all died. There were sacrifices. There was also a condition that we had to give up everything we obtained in the Tower when leaving, so surviving itself was the reward.
– Going forward, we would appreciate it if people would refrain from excessive interest in returnees, including us. If you still have questions after watching this video, please leave them in the comments. We will check and answer what we can. Thank you for watching. That’s all.
The Veritas members had predicted that their video would have a nearly 100% chance of being buried in the depths of the internet, but they had underestimated public interest in the returnees.
Even in today’s world where viral memes typically fade within weeks, the fact that interest hadn’t completely died down after several months should have been a clue, but they were too busy focusing on their own affairs.
Anyway.
Once their video started gaining attention, it spread rapidly across various communities, leading to a sudden increase in views.
As it rode the gaming algorithm and became more widely known, combined with the synergy of having the name of a famous game and the top-ranked raid party, the view count surpassed 500,000 within two days.
Most of the content wasn’t much different from other returnee interviews, but the fact that the #1 raid party members spoke directly (and most were female voices!), plus some “different aspects” that most returnees hadn’t experienced, made it so hot that any self-respecting gaming streamer would be remiss not to watch it.
As a result, game streamers and channel operators also watched or covered the video, and comments easily exceeded several thousand.
Among them were naturally comments requesting interviews from various channels and other places… but the channel owner didn’t respond to any of them.
As a result, people who had been rekindling the dying embers of returnee interest… began to focus their attention specifically on Veritas.
The trigger was the different (female) voices of the raid members.
VRTS) WTF IS THIS REAL?
Even in an era where female gamers are common, six out of seven raid members being women? And they’re the #1 raid party?
WTF IS THIS REAL?
– Are they using TTS? Most use female voices
– Did the person above even watch the video? If they were using TTS, why bother with seven different voices? Too much trouble
– There’s even one guy mixed in
– Isn’t he the raid leader?
– Holy shit, is the raid leader an alpha male? How did he gather 6 women?
– They wouldn’t have recruited with “women only” while gaming lol. All raid members are top-tier in their classes, so they must have recruited based on skill… Amazing that they all turned out to be women
– He must have been a ‘real’ alpha male in the Tower?
– Whoa
And that hot response was conveyed to a certain unemployed person who casually accessed the channel due to a pre-arranged agreement to “check back after three days.”
*****
“Wow. The impact is no joke.”
“Were we this popular?”
“It’s not pure popularity. It’s because it coincided with the returnee phenomenon.”
“Still, I don’t think it would have been this big without us. Admit it?”
“I’ll admit that.”
We connected the computer monitor to the wall-mounted TV so everyone could comfortably watch. I was controlling the computer, focusing primarily on comments with the most likes.
“I knew it! I knew this would happen! They’re absolutely obsessed with us being women!”
“It can’t be helped. It is surprising that there are six women, not just one or two.”
“Would it have been the same if it were six men and one woman?”
“Then that one woman would have received an incredible amount of attention.”
“Ugh. Women make up half the world, why is this such a big deal?”
There were almost no negative comments. In truth, there was no reason for them. We hadn’t done anything wrong—we just uploaded a summary of what happened and asked for less attention in real life.
Our behavior in the game hadn’t been particularly bad either, and from the returnees’ perspective, we were actually in the position of benefactors.
“Where was it again? There were several places where people were jealous and envious of our raid party, right? Making unfounded accusations and raising suspicions.”
“I think there were a few places, but I never paid much attention to them, so I don’t remember well.”
“Ah. You mean those guys who accused us of using macros or hacks? Pfft, since they survived thanks to us, they probably won’t spout that nonsense anymore.”
There were too many comments to read them all. We also clicked on and played some reactions from major streamers that appeared in the algorithm.
It was a strange feeling watching people react to our story like this… hard to describe.
“Most reactions are normal, but there are so many comments that there are a lot of responses. Maybe we should upload another video soon?”
“Instead of an additional video, how about doing a live stream?”
“What? You mean broadcast?”
“Yeah. Just voices, no webcam or anything. A broadcast from the Veritas raid party would generate huge interest.”
“Hmm… why?”
“Well… wouldn’t it be fun?”
I imagined it.
The Veritas raid members streaming together, playing games.
“Let’s do it!”
And my family supported my imagination.
A new type of raid was approaching.
