# 224. Heaven’s Gift (3)
-Clang!!-
Bael deflected the black weapon flying toward him with his own.
Then he stared intently at the opponent’s reinforcement who had appeared out of nowhere.
“To come all this way in that condition… you’re quite persistent.”
The reinforcement stood before him, breathing heavily.
His body was covered in wounds that hadn’t even been treated.
“Your loyalty seems quite impressive.”
“Is that the spear? That so-called Heaven’s Blessing or whatever?”
“Who told you about that?”
The young man retrieved his weapon that had flown far away, just like Bael’s had, and summoned it again.
Then, pointing the summoned sword forward, he said:
“I heard it from that precious subordinate of yours.”
“To think you defeated Agareus… quite surprising. But why come all this way after barely escaping with your life?”
That’s what he was curious about.
Though he hadn’t witnessed the process directly, it must have been more difficult than he’d imagined.
Not just judging from his physical condition and magical energy levels, but also from his breathing.
He was clearly exhausted.
Yet he had come all this way.
When he should be worried about his own survival.
“You don’t need to know that.”
However, he showed no intention of explaining his reasons.
He simply maintained the attitude he’d shown from the beginning.
Bael pointed his spear at him.
“Step aside. If you move willingly, I’ll spare your life.”
“Do you really think I’d step aside so easily?”
“Of course not!”
Bael swung his spear at the man who continued to show such stubbornness.
He parried the attack with the sword in his hand.
The two weapons—weapons unlike any others—collided.
-Boom!!-
A magnificent sound rang out as the collision created a cutting wind that swept through the surroundings.
Of course, Bael clearly had the upper hand.
Physically, at least.
“Do you think you can face me in your current state? As always, you’re arrogant.”
Albert filled his clashing sword with the abyss.
Then he chided the still-talkative Bael.
“You’re fucking noisy.”
As a [Heaven’s Gift], the spear boasted tremendous durability and lethality.
It probably wouldn’t pale in comparison even to the heroes’ weapons.
Yet it was gradually being swallowed by the emerging abyss.
-Grooowl!!-
At that moment, sensing something wrong, he hastily withdrew his spear.
Startled, Bael instinctively distanced himself from him.
“What is that? That ominous creature…? Even the divine spear seems alarmed…”
“Tasty?”
-Grooowl!!-
He was conversing with that creature.
Conversing with a creature of chaos that seemed completely incapable of communication.
“Fascinating… but not unfamiliar at all.”
“I’ve been using it for quite some time, but you must have been remarkably uninterested in me.”
“Wasn’t that supposed to only absorb things containing magical energy?”
“Who knows.”
He gave no particular answer.
This time, he took the initiative in the fight.
Just like before, he prepared that ominous creature and swung his sword toward Bael.
“Too slow.”
Bael ducked slightly to avoid the attack.
However, he couldn’t avoid the fist that followed immediately after.
-Thud!!-
His fist landed squarely on Bael’s abdomen.
But Bael didn’t budge and reached for his face.
As magical energy began to concentrate, he stepped back to prepare for the attack.
At that moment, an intensely bright light was emitted from that spot.
-Tzzzzzzzt!!-
Lightning, incomparable to Elin’s magic, struck him.
He responded by releasing the abyss.
-Grooowl!!-
As he slashed through the air, the revealed abyss swallowed the lightning instead.
Then it threatened the very source of the lightning.
His own attack disappeared before his eyes, and the black abyss flew toward him at a terrifying speed.
-Swoosh!!-
Being Bael, he managed to react, so he wasn’t severely injured.
He merely lost one ear.
Bael touched the spot where fresh blood was dripping.
But all he felt was red blood and rough flesh.
“You look good.”
“Didn’t you say you’d spare me if I stayed still?”
Furious, Bael summoned his weapon again.
It was an incredibly splendid bow, resembling the sun itself.
Bael drew the bowstring.
Dozens, hundreds of arrows appeared.
Each one emanated energy like that of the real sun.
Seeing this sight, he laughed as if he’d lost his mind.
“Haha… I don’t think I can block that…”
“You should have listened from the beginning.”
“It doesn’t matter yet. Go ahead and shoot.”
His inexplicably confident attitude.
Bael didn’t question his demeanor.
More precisely, his current anger prevented him from thinking about anything else.
Then he shot those hundreds of arrows toward him.
-Whoosh! Whoosh! Swoosh!!-
The arrows flying from various angles didn’t collide with each other, as if designed that way from the start.
Facing hundreds of arrows threatening him, he tightly closed his eyes.
Then he murmured in a low voice.
“That was quick…”
Right after those words, a sudden wave of magical energy engulfed the arrows.
Not all of them were intercepted, of course.
But those arrows didn’t reach him either.
-Boom boom boom!!-
Instead, the arrows that were blocked by the ice wall summoned in front of him fell to the ground with a clatter.
They pierced through the first wall easily, but eventually were stopped by the continuous barrage of magic.
He opened his closed eyes and looked at the arrows that had fallen to the ground.
“That’s a relief…”
He let out a sigh of relief and spoke to Bael, whose face had become even more contorted.
Bael looked back and forth between the two people who had perfectly blocked his attack.
“Seems like the situation is a bit different now, doesn’t it?”
“I thought so, Lilith.”
“I’m sorry, Your Majesty. I think taking this side aligns better with my direction.”
However, there wasn’t a trace of regret in those words.
Lilith stood in front of Bael alongside her, replacing the exhausted man.
Seeing this, Bael withdrew the bow he was holding.
“Well… bad luck for me. Consider yourself saved thanks to these people.”
“Are you running away?”
“You’re the ones being petty.”
He agreed with that opinion.
While Bael was alone, there were four of them.
Still, he couldn’t blame them for being petty.
It was their way of making up for the difference in power.
They had no choice.
“Let’s meet again, though it won’t be long.”
Those words sounded like he wasn’t completely withdrawing his troops.
It seemed like he was saying he would retreat only to a certain point and wait for an opportunity.
Bael left those words and headed somewhere.
However, ironically, that direction wasn’t where the battle was still continuing.
“Are you abandoning them?”
“Don’t talk nonsense. I’m not abandoning anyone.”
Those words weren’t believable.
That’s why he immediately said to her:
“Please take care of His Majesty.”
“What? Wait… just a moment…”
But by the time she said those words, he had already taken his steps.
And those words didn’t reach him, or he didn’t stop and continued moving forward.
She watched his retreating figure.
‘How could I resent him when he’s like this…’
Leaving him behind, she headed toward her father.
Looking at her father, whose eyes resembled those of a criminal, trying to hide his hideous wounds, she felt like she might cry.
But instead of tears, she offered her father a warm word.
“Don’t think too much about it. Just being alive is enough.”
She deliberately pulled out her father’s hand, which was lying on the ground.
Then she released holy power toward that hand.
A bright light appeared along with a warm energy, enveloping the hand.
But there was no effect.
“Why… isn’t it working?”
“Probably because the wound was caused by that weapon. We’ll have to wait for natural healing.”
“Sis, do you have any bandages?”
“Oh, just a moment…”
Lilith took out bandages from the small bag she was carrying and gave them to her.
She began wrapping the bandages around the wounded area.
“By the way…”
“You can trust this sister, you just saw it yourself.”
“That’s not it… why are you on our side?”
“No particular reason. I’m just standing on the more righteous side.”
After bandaging his hand, she supported him as he struggled to get up from the ground with his injured body.
Then she looked at Lilith and said:
“Sis, please follow Albert. I think we’ll be fine now… but just in case.”
“I’ll be fine even if I don’t go.”
Despite saying this, Lilith didn’t head to the battlefield.
She simply followed them at a distance.
“Talk if you need to. I’ll stay a bit away.”
Lilith was more perceptive than she thought.
Reassured by this, she could finally talk about it in front of him.
She called him with a calm voice.
“Father…”
“Yes? What is it?”
“Well… um.”
The situation was good.
Yet those words wouldn’t come out easily.
Just thinking about it made her emotions well up.
As she was about to speak despite this…
His words left her speechless.
“Don’t say anything. I won’t believe a word until I see it with my own eyes.”
