Ch.219219. Lulu and the Black Monkey Corps
by fnovelpia
Lulu was given a massive task this time.
“If you do your homework well, I might help you grow… or I might not?”
“Master! I’ll do my best!!”
Lulu had been disregarded since their first meeting.
After having her powers sealed and starting a new life in the Rift Dimension with a new master, Lulu had always strived to earn recognition from her master, Kim Soo-hyun.
Unfortunately, without any special abilities, she couldn’t show the results her master wanted, but she always did her best to eat Earth’s food, and finally, her master acknowledged her and gave her a personal mission.
Of course, daily tasks like watering plants were important missions too, but they were simple farm management tasks. This time, it was an expedition mission—something that wouldn’t be entrusted to Lulu if her master didn’t trust her, and she knew it.
That’s why her shoulders felt even heavier.
“Black Monkeys, the master has given me a very important mission.”
“Kiki. Kikikik. What is it?”
A few days after the master and everyone else logged out.
Lulu gathered 50 Black Monkeys in front of the cabin and lined them up.
The Black Monkeys were naturally stronger than Lulu, but they followed her orders according to the master’s command.
“We need to train the Mountain Goblins at the western mine to work in the mines.”
“Kikik. Goblins. Weak.”
“That’s not our job. Kik kik.”
“But if it’s the master’s order… kik. We must do it.”
“Twenty of us would be enough, kii!”
“If the chief says do it, we do it!! Kik kik!”
The Black Monkeys had a clear hierarchy.
As they noisily argued among themselves, the second-ranked Black Monkey raised his hand.
The Black Monkeys immediately fell silent.
Lulu wasn’t pleased that the Black Monkeys had questioned her words, but at least the second-ranked one listened well.
“What do we need to do, Lulu. Kikik.”
“We need to go to the western mine, find the Mountain Goblin village, and make the goblins our slaves.”
“Understood. Kikik. Let’s go.”
“Great. Let’s go!”
And so, the unusual combination of a fairy and 50 Black Monkeys headed west.
The west was also mountainous, but the biome itself was different from the Steam Forest where the Black Monkeys lived.
It was a mountain, but the area with the mine was a biome made of rocks.
The Black Monkeys’ specialty was climbing trees.
But they didn’t have much difficulty with the mountain trek.
“Huff, huff.”
“Lulu. Weak. Kik. Ride here.”
“Haaah. Thank you, Mr. Monkey.”
With their already good base stats and being covered in fur, their stats were impressive, and with the Black Monkey tribe’s morale buff +1 level effect, their stamina was also upgraded by +1 rank, so climbing this sloped mountain wasn’t enough to drain their stamina.
Rather, Lulu, who could fly, became tired and had to sit on a Black Monkey’s shoulder.
They arrived at the mine quickly.
The copper mine had been abandoned since Kim Soo-hyun had mined it last time, and the cautious Mountain Goblins seemed to be using it again, as there were traces of mining here and there.
The Black Monkeys stood in front of the mine, and a few went inside to check.
Shortly after, eight Mountain Goblins were brought out, captured by the Black Monkeys.
Unlike when they confronted Kim Soo-hyun, the goblins trembled in fear.
They couldn’t help it—for goblins, Black Monkeys were perfect natural predators.
Beings that possessed all the conditions of a superior version of themselves.
Because even if eight goblins attacked one Black Monkey, the Black Monkey would still beat them to death, so even though they lived in different biomes, the Mountain Goblins couldn’t dare to attack out of fear.
“P-please spare us.”
The goblins begged, trembling in fear.
The Black Monkeys waited for Lulu’s decision.
Lulu stepped forward and asked the goblins.
“Guide us to the Mountain Goblin village. If not, I’ll have no choice but to offer you as a meal to these Black Monkeys right here and now.”
“Hieek!”
“…”
Lulu steeled her heart.
This mission was the first main mission given by her master.
Lulu had always been concerned.
The farm was developing wonderfully.
The previous master had certainly done well, and his heroic tales were gradually reviving as the biome unlocked, but compared to the current master, there were already noticeable shortcomings.
The more perfect the current master was, the more intimidated Lulu felt.
Lulu’s mission was to provide information about the Rift Dimension and help her master completely purify it.
She was born for that purpose and had lived for it until now, but her master didn’t even need her help, and instead, Lulu was just eating food and living idly.
Actually, thinking about it, it wasn’t a bad life.
The fact that Lulu, as a helper, didn’t need to intervene directly meant that the chances of purifying the Rift Dimension were higher.
Lulu also found this life safe and comfortable.
But that didn’t mean she wanted to live like this.
It was the environment around her.
At least on the farm, no one else was doing nothing and just playing and eating like Lulu.
Not to mention the master, Kim Soo-hyun.
Kim Soo-jung started every morning with farming, cooking, organizing resources, and now she had combat abilities and was cleaning up the Level 0 biome by dealing with monsters and beasts that Kim Soo-hyun hadn’t managed to handle.
Lee Ji-hyun spent at least 8 hours a day doing alchemy for the farm’s development.
That wasn’t an easy task either.
Repeating the same thing every day, experiencing failures and successes could make life feel meaningless.
And Kim Sol-i, who joined later, was hardly ever seen in the cabin. She was always moving around, checking resources, and when she first arrived, she spent days in the warehouse checking accumulated resources.
Lately, she had started working, and even to Lulu, who had lived in the Rift Dimension for a long time, her aesthetic sense seemed truly outstanding as she decorated the Rift Dimension.
Of course, everyone played hard as well as worked hard.
When they finished their set time, everyone enjoyed the civilization they brought from Earth and relaxed.
They ate well too.
That’s why Lulu felt more motivated.
Play when it’s time to play, work when it’s time to work.
Lulu was the only one on the farm who was satisfied with just playing all day and providing minor help.
So she wanted to be useful.
That’s why she said those harsh words she didn’t mean.
It wasn’t difficult to say such harsh things.
She just had to roughly adapt what her master had said.
“Kieeek! Hieek! N-no. I’ll tell you!! Please spare my life…!”
The Mountain Goblins panicked, pressing their heads to the ground and begging.
Not wanting to die, the Mountain Goblins guided the Black Monkeys and Lulu to their village.
Lulu followed, finding it curious.
“Mountain Goblins aren’t usually this submissive… It’s strange. They must be really afraid of you, Mr. Black Monkeys.”
Even though Mountain Goblins were weak, they didn’t surrender this submissively.
Even with the master, the goblins only became slaves after suffering near-extinction level losses.
Are Mountain Goblins different? Lulu wondered, but a Black Monkey told her the truth.
“Kiki. There are 20 dead inside the mine. Kik!”
“…”
They weren’t guiding them out of fear from Lulu’s cruel words, but because they had seen their dead comrades and were afraid of meeting the same fate.
Slightly disappointed, Lulu still steeled her resolve.
At the Mountain Goblin village, she boldly demanded:
“Become slaves of our farm!! That’s the only way for you goblins to survive!!”
Lulu’s cry was quite effective.
After about 30 minutes, the remaining 50 or so Mountain Goblins gathered and prostrated themselves before Lulu.
The village was devastated.
The Black Monkeys were a species that had driven away even the Guava Snakes, predators superior to themselves, and became the predators of the Steam Forest.
Of course, Kim Soo-hyun had a significant influence in that process, but Kim Soo-hyun was the chief of the Black Monkeys.
For such Black Monkeys, clearing out a Mountain Goblin village that they normally wouldn’t even make eye contact with?
As the price for not immediately surrendering upon confrontation, more than half of the Mountain Goblins in the village were brutally torn apart.
The fight between monsters and monsters is one-sided.
It’s not even a fight, but a massacre.
Unable to even instinctively resist overwhelming violence, the Mountain Goblins had no choice but to surrender, having lost everything.
The scene itself wasn’t different from Kim Soo-hyun prostrating before the goblins and the Black Monkeys standing before the Mountain Goblins.
Somehow, Lulu thought the Black Monkeys fit well with the farm.
“Mountain Goblins, now you just need to mine copper from the mine and bring it to the farm!”
Lulu easily conveyed the master’s mission.
But the Mountain Goblins hesitated and fidgeted.
“But… kieek… if we don’t bring the copper, the Saesaedeul won’t stay quiet. Kieeeeek!!”
One Mountain Goblin pleaded, risking his life.
