Ch.210210. SSS+ Grade Treasure Hunting
by fnovelpia
Physical strength and damage reduction effects are not related.
Having high health stats doesn’t increase damage reduction effects, nor does absurdly high health make your skin tougher.
If that were the case, people with high health grades would all have thick, tough skin and would have turned into strange monsters.
Of course, there are differences in physical abilities depending on stat differences.
Just like increased strength doesn’t necessarily result in a bulging muscular body.
It’s simply a kind of superpower.
Strength affects the weight you can lift and the force you can exert.
Agility affects flexibility and how quickly you can move.
Health affects endurance and natural recovery ability.
That’s why hunters place great importance on armor and are meticulous about what they wear.
Armor is like a solid iron door.
No matter how high your health is or how much natural recovery you have, without solid armor, your life force will quickly wear away.
Even if you recover quickly and have a lot of life force, if massive damage comes in unmitigated, you’ll just die a little later—the fact that you’ll melt away quickly doesn’t change.
That’s why all armor with damage reduction effects is expensive.
That’s also why I was amazed when I saw the Corrupted Ogre armor set.
Armor with damage reduction effects can significantly reduce damage even for hunters with low health.
But when high health is combined with high damage reduction effects, you truly become a monster.
“With this, I’d be pretty hard to kill, wouldn’t I?”
Even though Kim Su-jung is a newly awakened SS+ grade mage, her basic attack power is not to be underestimated.
With SS+ grade abilities—the highest grade outside of Rift Dimensions—high magical power, and even an SS+ grade weapon, her only limitation is that she hasn’t invested many points in skills due to her low level.
Of course, compared to Kellin, there’s still a big difference, but considering the performance and damage I showed when I first learned close combat weapons, she’s definitely not weak.
“No way, oppa. Is this even possible?”
“Did you use your full power?”
“Full power or whatever, I used all my mana on triple casting.”
If she had gone all out with full settings and invested all her mana, it might have been a bit dangerous.
If a large amount of damage had hit me at once, my life force might have dropped to 40-50%.
Perhaps the magic Kim Su-jung cast was a skill that deals damage every second, which made it seem more impressive.
Attacks that continuously chip away at life force are troublesome for many hunters because they can’t calculate their life force and need to constantly pay attention, but for me, receiving damage in smaller increments means I can fill those gaps with recovery.
I was extremely satisfied.
At this level, even if I encountered the next corrupted boss, I could probably withstand most attacks that would normally make me think, “Oh? This is dangerous.”
“Good. Well done.”
“Hah, seriously. I need to go hunting too.”
Kim Su-jung seemed to have wounded pride and made her own resolution.
It wasn’t a bad motivation.
As an SS+ grade mage, hunting in dungeons, whether in the Rift Dimension or on Earth, would help her level up faster.
Even though I’ve swept through many hunting grounds like the swamp or the Steam Forest, the monsters haven’t completely died out, so hunting shouldn’t be difficult.
For now, I went to my room and started looking at my life skills.
There were so many life skills that it was hard to even scroll through them.
From basic gathering, logging, fishing, farming, butchering, etc., to construction, enhancement, equipment crafting, armor crafting, and more.
While scrolling down looking for something innovative and helpful…
“Huh?”
I found something good.
“So this can be learned.”
Among the various life skills, the top skill in the hunting category.
In Farming World, this wasn’t actually a skill you could learn.
It was an ability you could only get after completing the main quest and meeting specific conditions, and its grade was fixed at SS+, so it was essentially an end-game content ability that you could only get after clearing almost the entire map.
– Treasure Hunting (SSS+)
This is definitely something you must learn if you can.
I wasn’t sure if it would give the same passive effects as the ability I knew, but just the fact that a Treasure Hunting skill with an SSS+ grade could be selected was unbelievable.
Especially learning this ability in a level 2 biome?
In Farming World, after learning the Treasure Hunting ability, players would routinely go back and sweep through all the biomes starting from level 1.
[Raising Treasure Hunting to SSS+ grade.]
Used the last SSS+ grade life skill selection token.
[Treasure Hunting]
– Grade: SSS+
– Passive Skill (Treasure Hunting)
– Increases the probability of hero grade or higher rewards by 5%p + 500%.
– Increases the probability of legendary grade or higher rewards by 2%p + 300%.
– Increases the probability of mythic grade or higher rewards by 1%p + 100%.
– Increases the probability of finding rare points by 1%p + 300%.
“This is it.”
This is exactly the Treasure Hunting ability I knew.
Compared to the SS+ grade ability, the options are incomparably better.
Even just increases like +100%, +300% would be incredible since the Corrupted Ring already has absolute probabilities of 1%/0.5%, but this passive skill itself increases the probability of mythic grade items by 1 percentage point.
The original probability of mythic grade items appearing is practically 0%—it’s just a theoretical possibility, like winning the lottery but with even worse odds.
But now that’s changed.
With a simple probability increase to 1.5%, plus 100% from Treasure Hunting and 100% from the Explorer’s Badge, it becomes a whopping 4.5%.
“This is a mod.”
It’s not exactly a mod obtained through map effects, but this SSS+ grade life skill felt more like a mod.
I couldn’t help but be amazed.
To think I could learn such an ability.
In Farming World, many people would first clear maps up to level 8 biomes just to learn Treasure Hunting.
Having this skill made the difference between having a tiny chance at mythic grade items versus no chance at all.
Yet, considering that I never got the mythic grade item I wanted in 10 years, I could understand how overpowered this SSS+ grade Treasure Hunting was.
Back then, there wasn’t even a +0.5%p increase, let alone +1%p.
The limit of the SS+ grade Treasure Hunting ability was just doubling the 0.0000000-something probability, and even that was something Farming World players would bow down in gratitude for before heading out to farm mythic grade boxes.
But to get this now?
4.5% probability for mythic farming?
From now on, I could just do farming and other activities as hobbies and focus on clearing biomes, and I’d definitely become the world’s richest person.
“Defense and farming are now complete.”
Thinking about it, the SSS+ grade life skill selection token might actually be more valuable.
The SSS+ grade ability selection token encompasses all abilities including life skills, so it’s a ridiculous thought, but still.
If I hadn’t had the life skill selection token, I wouldn’t have thought about finding this Treasure Hunting skill with my SSS+ grade ability selection token until much later.
The SSS+ grade ability selection token shows combat abilities first, with life skills lined up way below.
Unless I spent all night examining each option while wondering what to choose, I wouldn’t have gotten to the life skills.
This might be because I played Farming World for a long time.
I thought it was much better to choose another SSS+ combat ability than an SSS+ life skill, and since I already knew most combat abilities, I would have been thinking about which ability to choose next to become stronger through synergy.
Anyway, I was able to find and learn Treasure Hunting, which I might have chosen much later otherwise.
After finally using all my selection tokens:
– Stats: Strength (SS-), Health (SSS-), Agility (SS-), Magic Power (SS+), Divine Power (SS)
Perhaps because I raised Tough Skin to SSS+ grade?
Unlike when I learned close combat weapons and my strength/health/agility all rose to S grade, health increased by one more grade.
So somehow, health became my first stat to break through to SSS- grade.
“Beautiful.”
At this level, I felt like I could really go to war.
