    Ch.207Prequel Chapter 12. The End (2)

“I heard from the captain. You were already working on the X-ray device. Gustav. I’ll ask you once more. Where is your X-ray equipment? Why was it delayed even though I, a blind man, completed mine? I demand an explanation that makes sense.”

    “……”

    Everyone’s attention turned to Guss.

Guss was making an X-ray device?

Wasn’t that an extremely complicated machine?

Was it even possible to make one on the ship?

Then again, if Night who was blind could do it, Guss certainly could too.

“Guss. Please answer. Where is the X-ray equipment you’re working on? Is there a special reason why it’s still incomplete?”

“Ah. Well. Night, you must be mistaken. I told the captain I’d try to make one, but I wasn’t actually working on it.”

    “……”

“I couldn’t find proper materials. Now I understand why—you took them all. No wonder I couldn’t find any. Hahaha.”

Guss scratched the back of his head and laughed stupidly.

If Guss wasn’t blind too, he would have seen our disgusted expressions.

“So you don’t even have an incomplete X-ray device. You’re saying you never started making one at all.”

    “That’s right. That’s how it is. It’s embarrassing but……”

“I understand. That’s entirely possible. Human memory isn’t perfect, and failing to create something isn’t unreasonable.”

“Hey, Night. You keep subtly getting on my nerves, you know?”

    “……”

Guss approached Night with a hardened expression.

But Night didn’t flinch at all, just standing there allowing Guss’s thick lips to get closer, which made my heart pound as if I were watching the opening of a gay porn.

    Ah. Maybe this is arrhythmia.

“That’s fine. Ignorance isn’t a sin. But from now on, I’d like everyone to cooperate with me.”

    “What?”

“Everyone, please put your head against this device. The radiation exposure will be about 20 times greater than current medical X-ray scanners, but it will definitely detect the parasites in your brain. Gustav. Shall we start with you?”

    “Of course.”

Guss smiled at Night’s handsome face.

Then he smoothly moved his hand from Night’s shoulder to firmly press his nape.

Night’s movements suddenly stopped, and he stiffened like an engorged corpus cavernosum.

While everyone stood dumbfounded, Guss spat in Night’s face and violently tore out the wires from the X-ray equipment.

I was too stunned to say anything, but Allen fearlessly approached Guss and grabbed his arm.

    “G-Guss. What are you doing……”

    “Shut the fuck up.”

    “……?!”

    Crack.

The spanner in Guss’s hand struck with force and blood spurted out.

Blood splattered on my face, making my body jerk.

My head throbbed as if it had been the one cracked open.

As Allen’s skull caved in and crimson droplets floated around, blocking my vision.

My body reacted before my mind could.

    “Ash! Run!”

    “Uh!”

I hurriedly threw myself backward into the corridor.

Glancing back, I saw Ash following closely behind.

And Guss, with blood on his clothes, was sauntering into the corridor far behind us.

Seeing that emotionless face after he’d just smashed someone’s head sent chills down my spine.

So he shows his true colors when cornered.

‘Shit. It was Guss. It was Guss.’

Don’t trust those black bastards, they said.

My father was right about everything.

    I should’ve listened to that redneck hick…

Come to think of it, Guss was always suspicious.

Looking like a monster rookie who could revolutionize gay porn, yet he hadn’t gone after anyone’s ass among the crew? Does that make sense?

He wasn’t human but an alien, so he had no sexual desire.

    The mystery is finally solved.

    “Ah, shit! What the hell!”

    Bang.

No matter how hard I banged my head against the navigation room door, it showed no signs of opening.

Instead, all that appeared on the panel was a prompt asking for a password…

Someone must have set a password when they left. Who was the last one out?

    “Ah. Damn it……”

    It was Guss.

I slapped my forehead and let out a sigh.

Ash arrived behind me, panting heavily, staring at the door in confusion.

    “J-Jin. What exactly is happening……”

    “Tsk. Follow me.”

There was no other choice now.

I had to use my last resort.

I pushed past the trembling Ash and hurried in the opposite direction.

Behind us, I could hear Guss approaching, pushing door handles with thudding sounds.

    “Jin! Stop right there!”

    “Like hell I will, idiot!”

“Stop and I’ll let you live!”

    “You son of a……”

He really was trying to kill me.

    Crazy bastard.

I glanced back at the confused Ash who was just following me, and hurried toward my room.

To be honest, it was a dangerous gamble.

The proper move would have been to stand guard at the control room door and team up with Ash for a 2-on-1 fight.

But considering Ash’s build, I didn’t trust him, and I couldn’t imagine both of us actively fighting against Guss with his spanner, so I changed course.

If Guss decided not to chase us and went back to the navigation room, we’d be finished.

We’d be trapped in the corridor with all doors closed, left to wither away.

“I said stop, Jin. That way is a dead end.”

    “Haha……”

But Guss had indeed turned his back on the navigation room and was coming straight for me.

Ash must have looked so pathetic that Guss was willing to face us both.

I couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity.

“What are you doing with your head in the laundry bin, Jin?!”

    “Just wait!”

    End of the corridor.

It really was a dead end now.

I immediately plunged my hand deep into the laundry bin next to my room and rummaged around.

It should be around here somewhere.

Who stuffed so much laundry in here?

Creating an intimidating atmosphere, the sound of the spanner hitting the wall echoed behind me.

    “Jin. What are you doing?!”

    “Ah! Found it!”

This cool, heavy sensation in my hand.

    This was it.

Just as I turned around, pulling the modest barrel of my baby wolf from the towels—

    “Ugh……”

Ash was spinning and flying far away.

And then a spanner gripped by a black hand flew at me, embedding itself right next to my head.

If I’d dodged a moment later, my brains would have spilled out.

    “Jin. Any last words.”

“That’s my line, you son of darkness.”

    “What did you just—”

    Bang! Bang! Bang!

Sorry, but I wasn’t careless enough to listen to last words.

I pulled the trigger of the gun at my side three times, and with each shot, Guss’s body convulsed.

    “Kuhak!”

But that wasn’t enough. Despite pouring blood from his stomach, Guss was still choking me with his large hands.

I pulled the trigger twice more, making four additional holes, but the situation showed no signs of improving.

    Guss’s grip was getting stronger.

Damn. This is why .45 caliber is the truth for pistol rounds…

As my vision narrowed, I raised my arm and pressed the muzzle against Guss’s chin.

Even a physically superior black man couldn’t withstand this.

    “Adidas.”

    “What……”

    Bang!

Blood burst from the back of Guss’s head like a water rocket spraying water.

And finally, I was freed from that hellish grip.

It took a while of coughing and wheezing before I could breathe properly again.

I’d probably have marks on my neck, just like after intense play.

    “Kheuk… Ash! Come here!”

    “Uh?”

“What are you doing over there! Not helping while I was getting choked out!”

    “Well, that… uh…”

    Sigh, fuck it.

Let’s not even talk about it.

Who knew we had someone more cowardly than Ranger on our ship?

I scratched the side of my head with the gun barrel in frustration, and Ash’s face turned increasingly pale.

The situation was finally under control.

After confirming that Guss was no longer breathing, we immediately headed inside the OK Zone.

There we found the X-ray equipment (or what was left of it) with wires and parts torn out and smashed, Night frozen with the back of his head torn off, and…

“How is he? Is he alive?”

    “No pulse.”

“Then try to save him! Artificial respiration! GPT! Something like that!”

“It’s CPR, not GPT, Jin. And it’s useless now.”

    “Ah……”

    Allen was dead.

Allen didn’t look like when I last saw him.

As if to make sure he was dead, Guss had bashed his head multiple times, completely crushing his skull.

Not even the legendary physician Hua Tuo could save him now.

    “Wear safety goggles, Jin.”

    “Yes.”

    Whirr…! Kakakak!

As soon as we confirmed Allen’s death, we began dissecting Guss.

With trembling hearts, we waited patiently for the skull to be opened.

And finally, when the skull was opened…

    “Aaack. What is this?”

    “Urgh.”

A spider-like corpse emerged from inside along with viscous mucus.

The parasite from the video. It was definitely it.

After removing all the contents, there was nothing left inside, completely matching the inside of my baby wolf’s head.

    “I’ll incinerate the parasite corpse.”

“Urgh. Please do. Get it out of my sight quickly. I’m about to throw up.”

    “Allen is still left.”

Though it wasn’t necessary to check, we split Allen’s head open to be certain.

Inside was indeed a brain, mashed into pulp.

Only then did I feel relieved.

    We caught the mafia.

Although my genius brain didn’t get a chance to shine, my physical abilities saved the day.

Wow. Physical prowess for the win. Click-clack.

“Hmm. But how do we get into the navigation room?”

    “Try 0000.”

“No way. Ugh. With a 4-digit number and no input limit, if we start from 0001…”

    “Try 1111.”

“It can’t be that easy. Oh. It worked.”

    “Hmph.”

The navigation room door opened more easily than expected.

    The password was 1111.

With a password like that, he could have his account hacked on some anonymous community site and suddenly be labeled gay. Not that it would be strange.

Ah. Guss was actually gay to begin with.

    “Ha…… It’s finally over……”

“Yeah. That’s right. Jin, would you mind giving me that gun?”

“Are you trying to take a gun from an American?”

    “Hmm? No?”

“I want to wash up first. But just in case, let’s destroy the emergency button. We won’t need to lock up any of us anymore.”

    “That’s true……”

After getting Ash’s agreement, I completely removed the emergency button.

This made it impossible to close all the doors from the navigation room.

Given our extreme distrust, it was better than living in fear.

“Ash. I’m going to shower and take a nap, so please clean up Guss and Allen’s bodies.”

“I’ll do that. Good job, Jin……”

I headed to the communal shower room with a big yawn.

Finally, I could enjoy a relaxing shower in the spacious bathroom.

It felt like everything was over now.

    Everything was definitely over.

    And yet…

    “Something feels off.”

Why don’t I feel completely at ease?
