Chapter 19. Female Knight Captured by Barbarians (2)
[How did it go? Did you get out?]
[NotACatfish: I did get out. But not right away, I have to be a sparring partner for the barbarians for three days]
[That’s good]
[NotACatfish: Thanks to you I survived]
[NotACatfish: Hannah]
[?]
[NotACatfish: That’s my name. When we meet next time]
[NotACatfish: No, call me that from now on]
[ok]
[NotACatfish: Tell me your name too]
[Sans]
[NotACatfish: Stop joking around]
[I’m really Sans]
[NotACatfish: ㅡㅡ]
[^^7]
[NotACatfish: Sigh]
[NotACatfish: Fine, let’s say that’s true, Sans]
[NotACatfish: Anyway, thank you and if you need me, I’ll help you anytime]
[ok]
[NotACatfish: …]
I closed the private message window with NotACatfish who wasn’t actually a catfish.
Now that I know she’s a woman, it feels a bit awkward to exchange messages casually like before.
It’s not quite as shocking as finding out a childhood friend you played with was actually a girl all along… but it feels similar.
Since I have nothing to do right now, maybe I’ll check the community?
[HobbyKing: Young people these days don’t care about politics because of deeply rooted anti-intellectualism and defeatism]

[OhDoGreatMan: Ah! Just one bite of the Paladin’s Cathedral Jjajang please!] (3)
[RisingPhoenix: What if it wasn’t a game company but a goddess who sent us here? We didn’t possess bodies in a game world, but this is actually another existing world.]

List of High-Ranking Demons?
I should check this out.

“Hmph, you clicked on this level of bait…?
Pfft. I can only ‘chuckle’ at how ridiculous this is…
If you’re clicking on this kind of thing… if I showed you a video of me playing Champions of Storm, you’d pull out all your parents’ hair with your hands and somersault while wailing.
From now on, don’t click on posts like this that disturb my mood… understand?”
Transcendent: “Haah… Hey ‘EunuchBro’. Take care of this.”
EunuchBro: “Wakarimashitaㅡ. ‘Master’ㅡ.”
(Deflecting the flying knife with my tongue) “Yare yare what’s this now lol Are you a butcher? No… that red rabbit tattoo on your navel… judging by your appearance, you must be a hitman from ‘Disearth’… Why are you trying to kill me? ㅡ?”
EunuchBro: “… Because it is ‘Master’s’ order. ㅡ…”
EunuchBro(Berserk): “EunuchBro ‘The Beast’ mode activated. ㅡ.’Limiter Release’ㅡ.”
“?! Aaaaarrrggghhhh!!! This is the legendary hitman’s true power I’ve only heard rumors about!!! EunuchBro’s true strength!!! Aaaack I can’t hold on anymore!!! (Thud)”
EunuchBro(Berserk): “I’ve taken care of him, Master… but my body is strained from the ‘Berserk’ side effects…”
Transcendent: “Rest well. Good job, ‘EunuchBro’ㅡ. ‘Power’ is for the weak.”]
– …
Maybe I should stop reading for today.
I should go watch the woman who claims to be Hannah sparring with the barbarians.
Paya is busy as a kindergarten teacher, and Muri is busy making totems, so Lakye is my only option.
I possessed Lakye. I hope he’s not in the shower or using the bathroom?
“Lord Malak. What brings you here?”
Lakye was watching the sparring from a distance.
More accurately, he was monitoring to prevent Hannah (it’s too long to say NotACatfish, so I’ll just call her Hannah) from escaping during the sparring.
– I came to watch the sparring. Be careful what you say since the paladin might notice.
“Understood.”
I watched the sparring with Lakye. Or is “watching” the right word?
Fortunately, the warrior facing Hannah collapsed just as I possessed Lakye, so I could watch the next match right away.
“Next challenger is Denzo!”
At the loud-voiced fat barbarian woman’s call, Denzo came forward with a club. Not just any club, but a metal weapon.
He seems to be in his mid to late 50s, and as far as I know, he’s Kanto’s right-hand man. His physical characteristic? He’s bald?
He once said his hair seemed to be growing back when he received healing from my blessing. It wasn’t.
“Huff…”
Hannah, standing opposite him, closed her eyes briefly and muttered something. Light enveloped her body.
I checked Hannah’s equipment. She had most of her gear including armor, sword, and shield, but was missing the cloak, pauldrons, and shoes that Lakye had taken. The shoes she was wearing now were leather boots.
I considered them Lakye’s spoils of war, so I didn’t tell him to return them to Hannah. Well, she’ll probably find other equipment herself, right?
I hope she considers it the price for her life.
Anyway, what’s that light? A protection skill? Or a physical enhancement skill?
I stared at Hannah hoping to see some information pop up, but nothing appeared.
“Hah!”
Denzo charged forward with momentum and swung his metal club, and Hannah raised her shield.
Before the club made contact, her shield emitted light.
Clang!
“Ugh!”
Denzo couldn’t withstand the impact and was thrown back along with his club.
The fight wasn’t over. Denzo was still holding his weapon. After shaking his head a few times as if to clear the shock, he charged again with a shout.
“Uooooh!”
A straightforward attack. Hannah raised her shield again just like before.
Swoosh!
In an instant, Denzo twisted his body and changed the direction of his attack. The movement of an experienced warrior.
Hannah abandoned her defense and swung her sword.
Hannah’s glowing sword collided with Denzo’s metal club.
A normal sword would have been damaged upon hitting that chunk of metal, but Hannah’s sword was enhanced with holy light, so it remained intact.
After exchanging several blows, the fight ended with Denzo’s surrender.
Despite Denzo’s experienced probing attacks, he seemed to be overwhelmed by the difference in combat power. Even I could see he was greatly outmatched in terms of strength.
“Hahaha. As expected, it’s no use.”
Denzo’s face looked refreshed as he accepted defeat graciously. Perhaps his competitive spirit had diminished after experiencing many victories and defeats.
“Next challenger is Dodo!”
A man called Dodo stepped forward. A face I hadn’t seen before. He looked like a warrior from the Brown Rock tribe.
After staring at Hannah who was catching her breath, he opened his mouth.
“You, I like those milk jugs.”
Hannah’s face crumpled instantly.
“Hm? What’s with that expression? Did you actually understand our language, you stupid civilized person?”
“Crazy bastard asking to die.”
Hannah spat out a curse and took a fighting stance. Though it was just raising her sword and shield.
“I don’t know what you’re saying, but I like that flapping mouth of yours too.”
Dodo grinned and charged with two daggers. He moved at quite a fast speed, so this time it might not be so easy…
“Waaah~!”
He just got punched and flew away. What a weakling.
“Next challenger is Una!”
A small, skinny woman with fierce eyes full of hostility stepped forward. A female warrior from the Blue Moss tribe.
Was she Kanto’s girlfriend? Or partner? I’ve seen them talking often.
“This is my chance… make a deep impression on the chief. You can do this.”
Una muttered something as she stepped onto the sparring ground. Her weapon was a wooden spear.
“Hiyah!”
She fought well, hopping around the arena with her small, thin body, but she couldn’t overcome the difference in combat power.
“Tch!”
Una left the arena in a huff. Still, she fought extremely well.
Better than the milk jug guy from before.
After watching three fights, I think I understand.
Her skills seem more artificial than the techniques experienced warriors use after years of practice.
The swordsmanship Lakye showed when killing the snail demon was very natural. So was Denzo’s flowing combinations, and Una’s elastic movements.
But Hannah’s skills seem to connect somewhat unnaturally.
That’s not to say it’s bad. The biggest advantage of skills is that they can somewhat replicate the techniques of experienced warriors without much effort.
High-level skills can even demonstrate superhuman abilities beyond the realm of technique, so there are more advantages.
“Next challenger is Chief Kanto!”
“Hmm!”
The burly giant Kanto climbed onto the sparring ground with a double-bladed axe over his shoulder.
I wonder how well Kanto will fare against a level 4 paladin.
