Ch.196New Event Preview (2)
by fnovelpia
I may have started the week living as a grandmother eraser.
But what mattered now was that another unique event was about to appear.
I was busy preparing for the event that would arrive next week.
Of course, regardless of such preparations, it was difficult to guess what kind of “map” would come from that event.
“Commander, what are you planning to do with the fleet this time?”
“Well, honestly, I can’t really tell until the proper announcement comes out.”
The event itself follows the common level-by-level structure found in mobile games.
The problem was that I couldn’t tell what form the map for the “first” event, “Ancient Base Ruins,” would take.
“What do you mean you don’t know? Wasn’t this around during your time, Commander?”
“No, that’s not it, but you know the ‘Ancient Base Ruins’ that appears first?”
“Yes.”
“It may be called an instant dungeon, but the problem is that the scale varies tremendously according to this world’s setting.”
Even the smallest user-level patrol ships in this game are over several hundred meters long.
Cruisers, battleships, and light aircraft carriers are tens of kilometers.
The “Dreadnoughts,” “Heavy Battleships,” and “Special Large Ships” like our Kraken, which represent the users’ ultimate tech, are at minimum several “hundred” kilometers in size.
And as it turns out, after being added through updates.
The “Super Dreadnoughts” and larger ships, which can only be built by mega clans or several mid-sized clans pooling their resources, are literally the size of decent satellites or small planets.
Given the game’s insane scale, they might throw in an ancient “planetary system” hidden as a “small dungeon.”
Or they might generate a small “galaxy” for a maze-finding mission and have us explore bases there.
Conversely, completely opposite to that scale, they might have us send a small assault craft to an abandoned small base like a fantasy adventure.
Then deploy troops and superhumans to enter.
Or even without troops, take just a few superhumans for a TRPG-style mission.
The problem was that this was a truly bizarre “random” event where the scale and deployed forces could vary tremendously.
Of course, despite all this randomness, if things had gone normally, I would have comfortably reached level 7 with my fleet intact by now.
I could have been drawing battleships or aircraft carriers, possessing various ship classes, and calmly waiting for whatever event came my way…
Unfortunately, despite receiving war compensation, my fleet was still not fully restored, so…
‘Oh my God.’
To ensure I could at least perform adequately no matter what came, I was diligently running resource quests while leveling up my superhumans.
I also drew a brand-new cruiser as a large ship for the first time in a while.
At the same time, I had my shipyards simultaneously building four destroyers designed as evasion tanks, doing everything I could to prepare for the event.
And in the midst of all this…
-“Hee-heeheeheehee! Is this where that 1:5 battle happened? Lucky me! You couldn’t have restored your fleet yet!”
“???”
Out of nowhere, bringing up something from two weeks ago, there was a crazy user who came on a long-distance expedition from another sector like Betelgeuse had done before, trying to plunder me.
-“The Bio Dildo is dangerous, you bastards!”
-“Waaaaaah!”
-“What the hell, there are so many!”
They were all torn apart by my pirate defense fleet (strong, no resource consumption) protecting my base, and the wreckage of their destroyed ships provided me with abundant resources.
I decided to express my gratitude to these unknown users who had unexpectedly provided me with the resources I needed.

I must have been preparing so diligently.
The week passed by in no time, and finally the morning of the event’s start dawned.
“Truly a refreshing morning.”
After a week of hard work building two cruisers, twelve evasion tanker-type destroyers rather than transport ships.
The Overseers and heavy cruisers that formed the backbone of the fleet.
The Kraken, which had grown well and was now four times larger than the nearby cruisers or light aircraft carriers.
And the small monster fleet attached alongside it.
Although it was less than half the size of my fleet in its prime, I nodded with satisfaction at the sight of this rather formidable fleet.
And this satisfaction didn’t end with just the fleet review.
As I turned away from the vast space visible through the command center windows, where the large ships were lined up for review.
“Commander, we await your orders at any time.”
“Hmm.”
Perhaps because she was currently the only “commander character” at our base.
Led by Berial who spoke to me as the representative, along with Ignis, Pashtra, Griyanar, and Partia.
Plus Oxianor, the tentacle-lady who had recently been transferred to my command by Princess Luca’s orders, and the brain-scrambled Smeragi.
Finally, Jessica, who stood right behind me with her rabbit ears perked up—I could feel an even greater sense of satisfaction as I nodded.
However, this gathering was solely for the purpose of deploying quickly as soon as the event started…
Contrary to my plans, our game operators poured cold water on the expectations of users like myself.

<General Announcement>
<Update Delay Notice>
<Notice to all Commanders.>
<Due to the discovery of a critical error in the scheduled “Ancient Empire Ruins” event.>
<The update will be temporarily delayed.>
<We will work to complete the update as quickly as possible, and a new announcement will be posted once the update is complete.>

‘…What.’
I hadn’t expected the operators to pull out the “extended maintenance”…no, “delayed maintenance” sword that I hadn’t seen in quite a while.
I was left in an awkward position with the superhumans gathered at the command center and the ships that had completed their review, unable to proceed…I decided to let the superhumans take a break for now.
And just in case, I checked the gallery to see how other users were reacting.
Well…as expected.

As users were brilliantly setting the gallery on fire in various ways.
I nodded in approval at the sight, and then.

Blocking those who were now carrying out time-delayed attacks.
I decided to wait until the event opened.
